Thanks everyone. I've upped protein again just in case that's part of my problem as well. Noticed my diet has been a little more carb high lately. How would one do a barefoot run? My running space is an outdoor concrete running trail so that could be a mite painful and really tear up socks so I'm a little stumped on that. Sounds interesting though. I did notice that I scrunch my toes when I skate, especially on turns because I'm fighting to hang on with my old wheels. They're getting replaced so hopefully that will fix part of it. It's not exactly a charlie horse cramp though, these just build up until my legs get tighter and tighter and even stretching feels like it does nothing. Going to eat a banana before practice to see if that'll lessen what I've been feeling and just keep crossing my fingers that conditioning + sticking it out will get me past this. |

Never thought about the arch supports! Going to have to try that one. I know I've been gripping with my toes trying to "hang on" in turns. Changing out my wheels and bearings here in the next week or so and that will help a little bit. Not sure if that's it but going to see if that's at least a start. |

Thanks guys. I got up and swept the dining room and it's helped a little but I'm still sleepy. Might have to just take a b vitamin and see if that gets me going a little more. Good call on a snack to help! But yeah, no coffee or I'll end up drinking all of what I brew since I hate to waste good coffee and then I'll be wired! |

I love omelettes too! My husband makes amazing ones and I love getting spoiled with them. Granted it's lowfat cheese and low sodium ham these days but they're still the best! The poro sounds great so I've got to try that! I keep a couple standby hardboiled eggs in the fridge on days I know are going to be hectic since otherwise I undereat or my protein is way under where it should be. I tried going egg whites only and just couldn't but I'm doing them within reason and my cholesterol has never been an issue, so for now I'm safe! |

I was over yesterday too... full moon or something? But hey it happens. In a strange sense I'm kinda glad I did because today was so hectic I ended up being under and I wasn't run down feeling at all. Even with a rough 2 hour derby practice. I'm eating a late second dinner now but came home starving! |

Just wanted to say how much I LOVE my gazelle! I got mine with a doc's okay (and physical therapist) when I was working on rehabilitating a knee. It really did help and honestly I just followed the exercises listed in the book. At first I could only manage a half hour. But that 30 minutes was better then sitting on my rear on the couch and after a while it got easier. I found that distracting myself with the tv when going for longer periods (since I watch the clock badly!) did help a lot, or that when I put on my ipod and rock out I'm able to push myself harder. Something about getting in that zone really does help! To sports... a team could be fun, if there was something that sparked you. I ended up joining our local roller derby team and it's been nothing short of a miracle for me. I'm having fun, exercising (hard) and getting out with people. It's what I needed right now and after losing 5# last week I got that kick I really needed! With regards to cutting or giving up stuff... it's hard to do. I got "off" chocolate going cold turkey and then after a few weeks I added in just a little bit at a time and would literally freeze the rest. Now, I can have chocolate without triggering any kind of a binge. Wasn't easy but after trying to just have a little bit and going over the only thing that worked was that cold turkey period first. If you need anything, even just a pat on the back feel free to drop me a line any time. You're off to a good start by taking a hard step... just keep doing little steps and you'll get there! |

My checkup was good, unless you count the 30 BMI and still being anemic. I've been anemic most of my life so it's just keep with the current diet unless I want to go on supplements and need colace and enemas again. I'm more active now and working harder at losing weight so with some hard work and luck I'll get it right this time. It has been hot and more muggy then usual, kayeanne, so I wonder if that's part of all this. Woke up totally fine this morning so hopefully whatever it was is over. My sodium the other day was over 3500 so something tells me that plus the weather could very well have been it. If it happens again though I'll call the doc. |

Sorry she's being a pain. It's not your fault SIL got pregnant and I can understand wanting to be there to help but that's your MIL's choice. A lot of people do fine without help, and those that do get it *can* survive for a day or 2 without it. She could do both (depending on distance) but is trying to push you into letting her control things. A lot of companies could add extra fees (my friend's florist did) for a date change so you could always bring that up and ask her if she's going to pay all the extra expenses you'd end up with. For all you know the hall or photographer/videographer or entertainment could already have a booking and there's another point. It's not that you're doing it to spite her request, it's that everything is totally straight and changing it now could mean your big day doesn't go exactly as planned. It's unfortunate and I'm sorry she's stressing you more then you need to be. I wish she could compromise so it's not one or the other. The only one she is going to hurt in the end of all this is herself. It's something I know will haunt her. My parents didn't come to my wedding, 11 years later my dad still apologizes because he sees how wrong he was. |

Are you sure that you're getting in enough calories? You're pretty active so if your intake is too low you're not going to lose. Otherwise, nothing much I can say other then just sticking to it. |

Not sure if it's the rubbing alcohol per se or just the massage on the muscles when you're rubbing it in but it does help. I don't know why but sitting in a tub of it wasn't recommended so we either did 1 of 2 things. For legs (especially our goalie) would take a few cups of rubbing alcohol and add it to warm water, soak them in the tub and massage. They'd pour water over the upper legs and just keep the lower ones in the water. For shoulders, backs, etc we'd have a hot pack on the area first for 5 mins, take it off and douse it with the alcohol, reapply the pack for another 5 mins and then spray it back down with alcohol and massage. I honestly never thought it did much except take an edge off after a tough game but now I'm really seeing more of a difference. Tried this am since taking a soak in the tub wasn't in my timeline and I'm glad I did! Didn't think I was this out of shape but I guess I am. |

We used to do that in hockey too minda_spk. It's stinky but it's one of those things you have to suck it up on because it does work. I may have to go there too... much as I'd rather not! Right now I feel like I'm in that calm before the storm. My legs feel good (oddly good) and my back is more sore then the legs. Ended up having to ice my lower back in the middle of practice because I had some serious spasms going on. Just from those lower back muscles really getting a workout, and me stiffening up wasn't helping it. I finished on a strong note so I feel better about that but I'm dreading tomorrow! I did get in my protein shake right after practice and hopefully that'll make a difference. With luck 2 weeks will be true and I'll start being in less pain around then. I'm on the water big time today, got in 4 glasses last night during/after practice and another 2 when I got in the door. |

I'm afraid of tomorrow. Today is that 2nd day, from 1st practice this week... and with practice again tonight it's not going to be pretty tomorrow. If I even make it past wall squats and lunges I'll be amazed, and that's the first thing we do after stretching! Saturday will probably be the worst, keeping with that "worse 2nd day" issue. Not sure how long I'll be doomed to be like this but hopefully in a couple weeks I'll be ok! Going to start doing the myofascial release also, thanks for that pointer. Probably should start taking bcaa again and not forgetting my protein shake after! I expected to do worse with learning the drills so doing better had me in there more and I underestimated being this out of 'skating shape'. Serves me right! Thanks again everyone

Not sure if it's a help either but I do them as an omelet also if I have time, and if not I keep a few standby hard boiled eggs on hand. I think if you up the veg in the omelet then the texture of the egg might be more disguised? Not sure. Egg is a texture that never really bugged me so I can't relate better. Hope you're able to find a fix. |

Good thread idea! Yesterday, 2 hours (brutal ones) of derby practice. Sprints, falls, blocking, push ups, lunges, I don't think there's much we didn't cover. I've been doing tae bo and other stuff in the house but I was totally wiped at the end of practice so I Know it was a good workout. Today, probably a lot of stretching and maybe jogging on the elliptical without holding on. Took a wee lil spill and my wrist is sore. Not swollen or painful so I probably just wrenched it. Range of motion is fine, just sore. Serves me right for not keeping my hands tucked up and letting one hit the floor! |

I went by the old "takes 21 days to make a habit" adage. I went cold turkey off ANY sugar. No sodas, sweeteners, no honey, no nada. Then started to introduce it back in really small quantities and it honestly hasn't been a problem in almost 2 years. At least the chocolate/candy dept hasn't. Somehow got snared by the evil of sodas again and I"m cutting that out now. |

Personally if the person is a nut as described I would Not confront them directly. Just saying. I would have my child tell this person (if he approaches her again) that she can't talk and has to get straight home. If he continues to press I would file a complaint with the police department. I would call the other mother and tell her what has happened and let it be from there. If the twins mother does (which is inevitable) contact him after being told he'll more likely then not put 2 and 2 together and if he is unstable it could have serious repercussions for the Op. Not trying to be a worry or strike up a fear, but it's honestly one of those things you don't want to take a chance with. If you're uncomfortable and the guy creeps you out normally, then it's better to be safe. Should it just blow over quietly, then no harm .. should something happen then there is already a pattern on record. |

Have to agree with everyone else. Probably not what you want to hear but it's the best I've got. As someone that's having some puppy issues it would have been good to have been a little forewarned into what a pup can be when they're taken from mom early. My little guy came home to us at 8 weeks (approx) as a rescue. The story we got was that he was found by someone at a park and taken in, my vet speculates that his double dew claws were mistaken for a deformity and he wouldn't sell as a potential christmas puppy. Every other pup we have ever had was 10 weeks at least when they came home and I can't remember behavior like his in any of them. That said, having him and being home full time we've had our share of problems. Just got him a crate to diffuse a good bit of them. But knowing to expect more of an impact then our other dog (also a rescue) I'd have been better prepared with the crate from the get go. I think that would be easier on all of us (and our ears) but it's an adjustment that we all have to work on.

I won't smack you since that might not help..maybe a push instead. and I wont' sit back and tell you that you're wrong about how you see yourself. What I will do is help you find a way to see the "right now" you in a better light. Do something to indulge yourself. If you like getting your nails done, go for it... or if you diy get some new polish! There's a lot of pretty new colors I'm seeing out =) If you need a haircut or might be tired of your style, get that done. Just a little something to pick you up. I just got myself a new shirt and it did perk me up a ton. Wasn't the size I wanted but since I needed a new one I just shrugged that off and got some more socks (I love funky socks) so I didn't feel guilty about another shirt that will get donated later. Good on you cutting out those excess calories from alcohol. It's not easy but I'm willing to bet will give you a boost. Getting that "Yes I AM" attitude going with kickboxing is going to help. Endorphins and all from exercise =) Fighting back like you are will help, it's just taking that "one" step and then another and then another and you'll get to where those negative views will fade away. I feel exactly the same as you (a lot of the time) but I've stopped letting it hold me hostage on living life. I'm embarrassed and feel pretty fat most of the time but I'm fighting back and not letting it get me down anymore then it has. I joined a team and with that extra exercise my weight will go down more and I've got friends that appreciate me as I am. It inspired me to get out and volunteer with my kids' school also since I took that all important step out of my comfort zone. Best thing you can do is just let it go when you don't make it. I only get more depressed and that triggers my emotional eating so the evil cycle continues. Don't be me and just let go! I'm forcing myself back on my eating schedule and drinking a lot more water like I used to. It's not easy but anything in life that is ever truly worth it takes work. I'm worth it, and so are you! Just remember that and you'll make it. If you ever need to vent or anything, feel free to drop me a note! |

Don't stress! It could be water especially this close to your period...and if you have had anything salty that only adds to water retention. The 1% of fat, I'm not sure on honestly. But I really wouldn't stress out right now. I really don't think you gained 3# of fat in 2 days though since you'd have had to go significantly over maintenance for that and if you've stuck to your calories then you know that didn't happen. Hang in there! |

| Weight Loss | Getting desperate.. | Sep 13 2009 13:57 (UTC) |

Honestly I wouldn't do it. Eating normally for you left you with 2 binge days so restricting more will most likely just set you up for a bigger binge. I agree with mermaid3011 on looking at the reason behind the binges and working to correct that... and also with alternating days. Restricting where you're cutting lower isn't going to help especially if you do go under. I'm bad about getting in enough calories and trust me it's the easiest way to totally stall you weight loss. I went under to literally 900-1000 calories at a point last year and my steady loss just stopped. It wasn't worth it. Slow and steady is better then sporadic any day in my book. I know it's not easy when you get frustrated but just hang in there and it'll get better. |

| The Lounge | My anxiety and worry is driving me absolutely bananas. | Sep 12 2009 03:03 (UTC) |

For me it was easing into things that would otherwise set me up for a panic attack and just working with it. I do take fish oil also and I think it makes a very big difference, at least for me. It's not a cure all for everything but challenging my anxiety as well has really helped a lot. I started off really slow and would have someone go with me to places that I had previously panicked. Then (grocery store especially) I'd go in for a couple items and self checkout... and then do the express lane... and then a small list... etc. Until now where I can do a full blown packed cart run. Traffic was hard but I'm doing a lot better with that after my setback. I got stuck in 1 lane of construction in several miles of traffic...on a bridge (afraid of those)...with a dead cell phone...and car full of kids in July. This was after breaking down in the middle of nowhere and being stuck in a hotel for 3 days so it wasn't pretty. But... I'm not letting that one thing get me down. I just took a 12 hour road trip, with the kids, to go to IN for a funeral (hubby was already there).... and made it through 3 miles of traffic from a wreck in Kentucky so I think I'm recovering. I know it's hard to live with and it feels like a giant fight. I didn't do well on medication but in all honesty they didn't prescribe antidepressants, just loratidine for when I felt an attack coming on. It knocked me out, even at half a dose so I couldn't do it. I know I'm not recovered yet, not sure if it's ever going to totally be gone but I've gone out for our local derby team and didn't have an ounce of panic set in (social situations used to be avoided) and I've started to get more involved at the school with things and have a book fair next week I'll be working. So, it's not holding me hostage anymore. Hang in there and drop me a note if you ever need to vent. It'll get better.

Will use the leash for his jumping and just get the crate to diffuse the situation. Thanks everyone for that. Both of our dogs know to sit before food is given, even treats. Our troublemaker also does "paw" and "other" and "wait" with his treats so he's sitting, more or less calmed down and doesn't snap to get it. He's never really destroyed anything that he wasn't supposed to (since toys are supposed to get destroyed) until the crock pot happened yesterday. All snacks and food do go to the table. He ambushes her on the way there. Plates get made in the kitchen and are taken to the dining room...family of 6 and it's the rule my husband started years ago when our older kids were about 3 or 4. The rest of us are taller so she gets zoomed by him. My dogs have their own food and treats so there's no sharing except the odd piece of cheese or rare scraps from cut meat or something like that... but that's not given at family meal time. Crate should stop all of that and keep him in line when I'm not here.

It's the black kind... yep he's part beaver. With some of his other behavior like leaping vertically and 'climbing' things the best we can figure is he's part pit. He's smart but has that overly excitable puppy mentality yet. He'll be 1 in Dec so hopefully after that we'll get a little more calmness out of him. So I think that's part of his kong destroying fun. That video is great! Going to have to start in on the "leave it" with the dogs and see if that gets us a little relief. My daughter tries to get away from him so he probably does think she's playing. Half the time he'll knock into her and there it goes or getting her to run around and chase leaves the plate hitting the floor so it's free for all. Plastic dishes are my friend lol. I can see now though where her trying to get away might seem like it's playtime to him and no way will a NO work during that! Thanks guys!

We actually don't own a crate so that might be something we're getting next paycheck. We're working on a lot of things with him (like the leash...he gets frantic on one for some reason) but loud noises don't phase him in the least. The food thing has to stop especially around my daughter. She is not giving it to him, he's flat asserting himself and taking it. So getting him to understand that when we feed him (or treat them) ok.. but snatching is a no go. I actually don't keep my knobs on the stove, forced habit after a daughter that used to turn them (it's electric) and now just something I'm used to. So we're lucky that he can't turn on the stove. The door gets basically lukewarm when the stove is on so he can't burn himself, unless in some odd chance he got the door open... but... I don't want that chance. Knowing my luck that 0.000005% freak accident will happen here. He jumps the baby gate or just bulldozes it so I guess the crate might be the best for all of us. Is there something out there stronger then a kong? anyone? we go through those a little too fast even if I stuff them. Need something a little more durable lol. He doesn't really chew things (lucky for us) or I'd really be in trouble! |

My aunt also had her nose done and I Know she is tons happier with the new one. Old pictures were pretty much hidden once she had it fixed. If I can ever work up the courage I'll be getting mine done. Or if I break it again lol since that'll really force my hand. I get bad sinus infections from drainage issues because the interior is a little skewed. I'm afraid of pulling a Jennifer Grey and until I can get past that I don't think I can go for it. I like my nose... even the quirky little bump I have... because it's Me. I curse myself every sinus infection but no matter what's happened I just haven't been able to say yes to surgery. If I hated my nose... I'd have had surgery after the first infection. |

Honestly.. I schedule. It's pretty hectic here with 4 kids and working out of the house so I do my best to just keep things written down and plan around them. It's going to be interesting adjusting a few things for my practice 2x a week but it's 8-10 so that doesn't throw too much of a wrench that late at night. If it was 6-8 then I'd have more of a scramble! I cook ahead and freeze also. And redid a lot of my recipes to be mostly 1-pot so it cuts back on the dishes. Helps a lot! |
