hang in there arrow27!  it took over a month after gym-ing it for 4-5 times a week and counting for anything to start happening. it is now so maybe it just takes more time to kick in for you.

mdillman - don't doubt your loss, enjoy and celebrate :)  my family came in to visit last week and i haven't been on for a while, i ate more than usual and stalled, but got right back into the game and am down again.  i think the things i'm doing are finally making a difference....congrats on your loss!

i feel the same way. i get a little excited when i wake up and am down on the scale.  i think it's great to have little mini goals.  i am trying to make mine 5 pounds, and then when i finally get to my long-term goal i'm going to reward myself with a hair makeover (that i desperately need!) i could go ahead and get my hair cut, etc...but i'm making myself wait and work for it :)

a lot of people are not into it, say it's unhealthy, etc....while i agree it's not good for anything long-term, i believe that a 1-3 day fast can give the digestive system a break and is good for your health.  i just have nothing but diluted fruist juices for one day and water...make sure it's 100% juice and no added sugar...i've heard you shouldn't do OJ. you can google it for more info. then for the next two days, i have nothing but fruits and vegetables. to make it easier, i make a big pot of tomato juice, diced tomatoes, and fresh or frozen veggies.  i eat it whenever i'm hungry and as much of it as i want, with lots of water. it is difficult but not impossible.  i'm on my last day of the soup...but if you drink caffeine (sodas or coffee) be prepared for a headache.  i still allow myself to have one cup of coffee in the a.m. to ward off a headache.

that's awesome mdillman3! i've lost a pound, but I think it's mainly water weight as i'm doing a cleansing fast for a few days...but i do feel my stomach getting flatter as well. i did a yoga dvd last night for the first time and wow, that was harder than it looks :)  i think i'm gonna do yoga the days i can't get to the gym (hubby works 12 hr days three times a week)  i'm thinking my metabolism doesn't want to move...i'm hoping a cleanse will reset it! maybe nonsense, but any movement on the scale is motivating :)

a couple years ago when i lost 25 pounds (before baby #2) i would be able to tell a difference after a workout on the scale. maybe all that sweating? :)

Weigh ins?  I weighed 134 this morning, after 3 weeks of nothing. BUT I also did a one day juice fast yesterday to jump start this thing.  The next two days I'm doing a veg/fruit only cleansing fast.  This is for cleansing but also the couple pound water loss helps me to get motivated ;)

hi shanahbanana, welcome to the group! it's frustrating, isn't it, trying so hard and not seeing any results???  i've been doing heavy cardio plus weights for a total of an hour at the gym four times a week, these past 3 weeks, plus not eating over 1400 on gym days and not eating over 1200 on non gym days, plus at least 64 oz of water.  not a budge on the scale :(   but i figure i'll give it a full month and re-evaluate! although some people on this forum say to eat more, so i'm adding 150-200 calories to what i've been doing. we'll see if that kicks in the weight loss!

PS i hear you on the belly issue..i'm having the same problem!!

ok so i changed it to light active, and it put me at 1900 cals per day; i think that sounds about right. so to lose a pound a week, 500 cal deficit per day...so i should be eating 1400 calories a day on non-gym days, and since i burn about 350 cals at the gym, i can have 1750 cals on gym days?  do i finally have it right? :)

thanks alot for putting it in yourself. i entered sedentary to get that amount like you said, that's when it gave me the 2300.  so to lose a pound a week is a 500 calorie deficit per day, right? so if i start at 2300, on non-gym days i need to eat 1800 calories?  that seems pretty high to me??

mdillman, i tried entering my stats, it says my daily goal for eating should be 2300 calories, and my burn meter says 1640...does that sound right?  how do i interpret those numbers?  i think i've tried to play around with numbers in my head for so long that I've confused myself!  i'm happy to lose even just a pound a week!

glad to see the new people :)  but i gotta tell ya, i'm past the point of frustration. if something doesn't change soon, i'm gonna pull my hair out. i'm almost at the 3 wk mark of 1200-1400 calories, 4 x a week of 45 mins heavy cardio and 15 mins training.  the scale hasn't budged. i at least expected a couple pounds of water weight, but not even that! bluuughhhh....as far as the meter mdillman, i've just been keeping track of it myself instead of entering it in. i guess i need to figure out how to do that.

I'm not gonna lie, it's hard to get to the gym. I dread it. But, when I get there and after 5 mins on the treadmill I start to feel great. I go for 45 mins...I start with 5 mins of walking, then I've been alternating jogging and walking to get some intervals going (I've heard that's it's better to do that instead of maintaining an average speed the whole time) After I am done with that, I do about 15 mins of strength training on the machines. I feel great afterwards. BUT I haven't lost a single pound in 3 weeks. I'm not sure what the problem is (but I did have the time of the month in there) so I'm just gonna stick w/it until I see some results!  I've always been spoiled with my waist being smaller, but after this second child (2 c sections) things are way different. SOOOO, this is why I'm here on this forum :)

sounds good to me, arrow27!  here are my stats:

33 yrs, 5'4 1/2" and 135 pounds. after my first baby i lost a ton of weight and was a little under 120 and felt great.  now after my second baby (2 yrs ago!) i'm still holding onto those last 15.  i'm going home to see extended family around the holidays so this time table would be perfect for me!  it shouldn't be hard to lose a pound, pound and a half a week by then right??

i jog about 4 times a week, and strength train 3 or 4 times. try to hike when i can but the weather will be going downhill here (in seattle) in the coming weeks.

ok, so i ate more calories and didn't do the gym yesterday, and still the same today but i'm determined to do whatever it takes...but here's another question: now that i'm eating whole grains and more veggies, it feels like i'm constantly bloated and my stomach is huge!  i've been drinking tons of water, thinking that will help but it seems like i'm just retaining it??? i'm a week past my period so i'm not sure what's going on.  i'm not constipated at all, so i'm not sure what's causing the huge belly??

looks like it. i'm glad i'm not the only one! but it is frustrating.  i know my husband will be happy that i'm venting on this board, and he doesn't have to hear it :)  so today i'm going to take a day off from the gym, and eat around 1500 calories. tomorrow i'll go back to what i've been doing. who knows, maybe a 'shake up' in the system will do something....???

Thanks. I've been trying to eat 1400-1500 on running days (4x wk), and closer to 1200 on non-gym days.

kizzichan - when you started eating more calories, did you start to lose??
