you have already made a healthy decision by trying - congrats on taking the first step. i know it is had because you aren't in charge of shopping or cooking and you probably don't have a ton of money but here are a few things you can do.

first whatever your mom makes start tracking the calories on your own just 2 see what you are currently eating

second start to portion control maybe that steak is too many calories but instead of eating all of it maybe you can only eat half of it.

figure out how many calories you burn in a day and stay about 500 calories below that

since you are in hs i know that this is the most difficult -- try to find some sort f activity to participate in --even if it is only once a week -- maybe a friendly softball or volleyball league or something - some gyms offer a special student membership rate -- maybe even just for the rest of the summer.

good luck - you can do it but remember it isn't a diet -- it is a change in lifestyle -- i am from the midwest too and know how you feel

honestly -- looking at your profile you may reach yor goal if you start to drink more water -- when i started this lifestyle over a year ago I started drinking more water- at least 8 glasses a day -- I immediately lost 5 pounds.

for us it is just another bill -- we have almost 60k in student loans right now -- my husband and i went to a private school and i got my masters afterwards. We both had scholarships and i even graduated early and I guess it could be worse since the school we went to tuition is 24k a year, So three degrees later -- it is a large bill but we have it set to 15 yrs paid off -- so that we will pay it off before we have kids that are ready for colloege. Our parents worked their way through school and came away without bills but i don't even think that is possible in today economy.

it is not a negative factor in your credit score as long as you pay it on time

we got married on a friday night -- it was a lot cheaper. We got married in a flower garden (cost $15) and had a nice reception at a hotel -- the actual reception wasn't that pricey -- we did cash bar but paid for wine and soda per drink costs. The bar bill was under 1000 -- if you can't afford a wedding you definately won't be able to afford one if you have a child

I am 27 and just had my first child. We have been married for 5 yrs and both have careers and paid off all of our debt except the house and student loans. I have to be the devils advocate -- why do you feel that you want to have a child before you get married? I have meet so many people that are trying to get pregnant when they are dating or planning on getting married and I just have a hard time understanding it. If you are ready to have a child together wouldn't you have the commitment to be married? not trying to be mean just trying to understand

you can look into differnt types of first time homeowner programs. They allow you to buy a house without a huge downpayment.

Also look for "deals" on houses. I was 22 when we bought our first house, we found a house that was priced below it's actual worth - giving us instant equity and allowing us to only put $1,000 down. In our specific case the house had been sold to a relocation company after the family moved out of state -- the relocation company lower the price in order to quickly sell. This is just one example but you can find houses going into forclosure, people needing to sell quickly, houses being sold at tax auctions, etc

I was student teaching in a first grade classroom.  The school started after the first plane hit so most of the kids knew about it before we did.  They turned the TV on in the LIbrary and my cooperating teacher and I took turns going in there to see what was happening.  We were near a navel base and many of the families had a parent that was in the military. We had one little boy whose mom was a flight attendant and he knew she was flying Chicago to NewYork that day -- since we didn't know where the planes were coming from at that point it was really hard to reassure him that everything was alright - his dad called as soon as he could to let us know that her flight had landed alright.

As the day wore on parents in full uniform started showing up to say goodbye to their kids as they were being called up to active duty or being requested to report to base.  I still have those mental images in my head to this day of a dad in camo  trying to to let go of his two young kids in the main entrance of the school.  The district had sent out a memo to not tlak about it but our school was unique because the kids already knew about it and because we were so close to the base -- we really didn't have a choice but to talk about it and reassure the kids the best we could.

I wonder what the kids remember of that day -- I teach fifth grade now but the students I had back then would be in 6th grade today.

oh fried rice is evil -- next time go with white rice

no clue on calories because it depend on portion size -- when I order from the local chinease place I know that there are really three to four portion per container -- so it ussually takes me several day to eat it --

in the past I used to eat the whole thing in one sitting -- I really wanted chinease tonight so I am a little jealous  -- instead I made mac n cheese

I won't take offense to the packers joke this time -- I married a bears fan but I was raised in WI so theres no going back.

Yeah I have been working at Kohls for the discount -- it has been great - I bought a ton of new outfits yesterday off the red tag clearance (90% off plus my discount).  They are mostly business outfits and three pairs of shoes --- I spend $18.  Can't beat it

School starts in a month -- but first I need to go to Scotland

I am so sorry for your loss -

I miscarried three weeks ago at 8 weeks -- It has taken awhile to start to even feel normal again.  I have tried to start regaining muscle and losing the rest of the weight but It seems like I have no motivation anymore -- I guess I am just taking it one day at a time and somedays are better than others --

I hope they can find some answers for you.  Good Luck and God Bless

where do you teach dance??  I used to teach dance in WI -- then I coached gymnastics in Kenosha ( they wanted my background in dance).  Now I just teach 5th grade -- which isn't quite as fun but the hours are better :)

Well if you are anything like me - your legs are very muscular -- and I know when I was actually dancing that no one every believed that I weighed as much as I did -- I had a boyfriend in HS that was 6 feet tall and almost the same weight -- he was tooo skinny  --

So I am going to guess 130-135 -- I am at 140 now but I have lost a lot of muscle tone and gained some fat but I am also  a  lot shorter -- hmmm
