| Weight Loss | Does anyone count calories my way? | Aug 26 2009 19:36 (UTC) |

I am exactly that way! I have many many things permanently stored in my head like grocery prices. I can tell you exactly how much something should cost at which store. Calories are exactly the same. I already know and keep a loose tally in my head to make sure I'm not eating too much. AND I round up to be safe. I still use my food scale just to ensure my portions are in the right range. If I log food, I tend to eat more because I'm thinking of food all day. |

| Vegetarian | Pescetarian- Fish Isn't Meat? | Aug 26 2009 19:18 (UTC) |

Hmmm...just like people sometimes eat chicken and still call themselves veggie. I personally don't think anyone that eats eggs and dairy should be called veggie, but that is my personal opinion. Eggs and dairy are just as bad, or even worse. I guess it depends on WHY people choose not to eat certain things. Personally, I'd rather be undefined and not fill pinned to an actual category. I do eat fish and seafood, but I do follow the guide from the Monterey Bay Aquarium and makes responsible choices when I do choose to eat it. I consider myself some sort of veggie. I do not eat meat, poultry, eggs or dairy. Just fish...sometimes. I don't eat meat or animal products for ethical reasons and the horrible abomination known as a factory farm. There is no way I can selfishly eat that stuff knowing what horrible things are done to those animals. It isn't right. And pollution and it's wasteful and....well, lots of reasons (health is probably at the bottom, if it even makes the list). I don't, however, think that there is anything wrong with eating meat. That is why I still eat fish although I do limit my consumption. One day, when I have a yard, I will raise my own chickens for eggs. Can't eat the ones from the tortured chickens that they sell in stores. One day I hope to only eat the fish I catch myself....Just haven't gotten there yet. Hope this gave you a little insight as to why some people make the decisions they do. Any pescetarians out there that are veggies for ethical reasons, you may want to check out this link. It will help you make responsible choices about the fish you do eat. They have pocket guides

Hmmm...I wonder if the body can go into shock from mass food consumption??? Google.... Anyways. Thanks. It's been a few days of very light eating and exercise and the weight is staying. I could detail what I ate, but I'm confident that I had 10,000+ calories a day. I mean, heck, a box of brownies is 4,000 by itself. An entire bag a tortilla chips 2,240. A box of pasta, a can of sauce, a lb of ground turkey, 3 Tbsp oil is about 3,000. Yep, definitely over 10,000...maybe even more. No, I don't restrict calories at all and am, well *was*, a very healthy weight and don't believe in depriving myself of anything. This was purely stress....I've been going through some serious financial issues and stress due to a joke of a job and a car that breaks down several times a day. I wish this economy would hurry up and get better so I can make more money. I haven't had any luck finding a second job, not even fast food. I would work 80 hours a week if I could, I just can't find anything. I knew I should have been like all the smart girls and married for security and $$$$$$.........joking. Next time...I'm going to drop everything, throw on my tennies and go for a jog. Nothing instantly snaps me out of a mood like a serious workout. |

I've been taking phentermine since October, but haven't really been able to lose any weight. I've lost about 10 pounds. The phentermine makes me feel sick (I tend to eat to relieve a sick feeling) and makes it impossbile to exercise. If I try just walking up a hill, my heart beats out of my chest and I nearly pass out. Everyone around me loses tons of weight on it though. My sister lost 30lbs in 2 months and my boss lost 20lbs in a month. I guess it made it so they basically ate nothing at all. I wouldn't recommend taking ANY diet pills. I've been working out a LOT and have noticed so much better results and most importantly I feel so great and energized and don't have that horrible sick feeling anymore. |

When I do make it to the gym which is usually 2-4 times per week, I do 30 minutes on the elliptical followed by 30 minutes on the treadmil with 5 minutes of walking at an incline and 2-3 minutes of jogging intervals. I also use Jackie's one-on-one workouts occasionally, but really need to use those more consistently. |

I know it's not Monday yet, but I weighed in at 145lbs today. Yes! That's a new low for me and it was my goal for this week. I've lost 15lbs since moving here in July. |

Shop smart and keep an eye out for good deals. I signed up for a rewards card from New York & Company and got a $30 off coupon in the mail. The pants I normally buy are $40, but were on sale. With the coupon, I got three new pairs of nice work pants for only $16 each. That and...hold on to your skinny clothes. If your weight fluctuates like mine, I just bust out clothes from a few years ago. |

Ha! This post made me crave sushi so I had a rainbow roll for lunch today. I totally feel your pain. I ate four hours ago and I am still incredibly full and a little bloated in the stomach. Personally, I feel that the bloating is from the rice and not the sodium. Plus, I'm craving food even though I'm stuffed. |

I am obsessed with Boca meatless crumbles. I make everything with them. They have only 60 calories and 13g of protein per serving and I pay about $3.50 for a box of six servings. |

Okay. Thanks for the link. I assumed that the age-estimated MHR was somewhat accurate. I guess perceived exertion is subjective since I was dripping sweat the entire time. I was just concerned because I got this piercing pain in the side of my head for about a minute when I was done and wasn't sure if I pushed myself too hard. |

| Foods | How healthy? | Dec 11 2008 15:18 (UTC) |

Did you make this yourself? Or did you buy it in a restaurant? Because I used to work at Subway (many, many years ago) and I can tell you we put TONS of mayonaise in the tuna. It was gross. If you're not making it at home, it's likely NOT healthy. The calorie count is 530 and 31 grams of fat according to this site. If you made it yourself, it's likely healthy because you can control how much mayo you put in. |

Well, sushi makes me feel full as well. However, let's think rationally about this. Your sushi rolls probably had around 500 calories. I seriously doubt it made you gain any weight at all or wrecked your diet in any way. I mean, how many calories do you normally eat for lunch??? |

No, the fat in dairy is unhealthy saturated fat. I would cook your meat and veggies in olive oil or canola oil instead. That is the easiet way to increase fat in your diet. |

Let me elaborate. He's slept with quite a few women in the past. He is an extremely outgoing person and definitely a flirt. He is my best friend and says so himself, but he cheated on his girlfriend to be with me. That concerns me. I guess I've always gone with a safe bet in the past. This time it is different. I can't tear myself away though, I feel like a foolish child for going with my heart instead of my head. |

My guess is that you aren't eating enough fat. At least 15% of your calories should come from fat and currently you are only at 10%. Eating more fat should help with your hunger as well. |
