I def. did not mean eating potato chips to keep you full. Those are full of saturated fat! We as humans absolutely need unsaturated fat. And I def. don't mean load up on fat to keep you full, but fat does help keep you full in small amounts. We do need fat because its a source of essential fatty acids that are necessary. Fat is not only used as fuel, but other bodily functions. I was just saying if you are very low on fat, it may be something to look at.

Have you thought about eating some hardboiled eggs with some wheat toast? Veggie omlettes? fresh fruit? If you like oatmeal, try instant plain oatmeal and add milk and honey or a packet of splenda. I think you should stay away from processed foods and eat more wholesome food. It helps keep you full and it's not so heavy on the sugar. I dono bout you, but eating sugar makes me crave more sugar. I try to stay away as much as possible, unless its fruit. |

try eating some fatty foods and see if that helps keep u full. Not a whole lot, but usually fat and protein is what keeps u full, along with fiber. Try eating some almonds maybe. Those usually keep me pretty full. Peanut butter is also great. Eat it with some celery or apples. It has good fats and protein. I think sometimes it helps to have a little fat in the diet and our bodies need fat. It may be what your body is missing. I eat 1300 cals and yesterday i had two peices of double fiber wheat bread and peanut butter for dinner and it kept me very full. I was full off of 1000 cals, but i still ate later to get my calories up. |

I think if you are eating fresh, unprocessed food, watching your sugar isn't a big deal. I heard Dr. Oz talk the other day and he said the food you eat should look the same as when it came out of the ground. I totally agree with this. Ever since I've been eating unprocessed foods, I am just not as hungry anymore. Natural food doesn't have a lot of sugar. If it does, it's good complex carbs. |

Me too!! I've been off my diet for 3 mos. I didn't do a lot of damage actually, but still haven't been counting calories and have been eating very unhealthy. I just don't know how to do a lifestyle change, and not a diet! I know what to do when i diet, i just don't know how to keep it going which is obviously the key. Good luck!! |

As long as you stay within your calorie range, you will still lose weight, most likely. However, when it comes to feeling good and getting your nutrients, cookies may not be an idea choice. It's okay to splurge sometimes, even good for your sanity, however, everything in moderation. You want most of your calories to come from protein and good complex carbs. I've eaten a box of chips ahoy cookies in 3 days!! it make u feel like shi*. It doesnt keep you full long at all. I dont recommend on cookie overdose. |

I believe that your body uses the energy that is most readily available, and that would be the food in your stomach. It takes more energy for your body to release its stored energy than to just use the energy in your stomach. I believe I read this in Women's Health... |

honestly, don't bother getting the eggs poached because they still make them with pam either way. There is no way to keep the egg from sticking to the little metal dish. Our diner makes all the eggs the same, but if they use PAM, it has few calories. I work in a diner part time. The only difference is the shape, so don't bother with that. At work, i usually eat oatmeal, made with just water. 150 cals for half cup. Stay away from the toast. It is loaded with butter and the bread is the cheapest one-not very healthy! I'd go with a couple eggs or egg whites and oatmeal. Whatever you order, try to tell them not to use butter, because they go crazy with it! |

| Motivation | once I start, I can't stop!! | Mar 24 2009 10:49 (UTC) |

I just realized yesterday that I am the same way, but now that I know I am that way I can stop it. I really wanted to eat somethings, but it was just easier not eating them at all because I know i won't stop myself. For example, I was at Red Lobster with my boyfriend and they have those amazing biscuits. I really wanted one, but waited til my meal came to have one because I knew that if I had one before my meal, I wouldn't be able to stop at one because I was hungry. Also, after I decided I was done eating, I had gum so I would stay away from the biscuits and the rest of my meal. So far, gum has helped the most. For now, I am just gonna stay away from the foods the trigger non-stop eating. I also notice that when i can't stop eating is when I am bored, so I immediately find something else to do. Usually a walk helps, cuz ur outside with no food in site. I hope this helps. |

| Weight Loss | How long does it take for your body... | Mar 13 2009 16:17 (UTC) |

It took me about a week to two weeks to get used to the new calorie intake. The first week was the hardest! I could barely do it and went over a few days, but eventually my way of thinking changed too. I knew that if i went over 900 cals before dinner, I was in trouble! My target is 1300 and by the second week, i'd have more calories left over at the end of the day because I've gotten used to eating less during the day. You will get used to it, just give it time! |

| Weight Loss | Agh I binged...kind of | Mar 12 2009 03:38 (UTC) |

Well, if you ate 3500 calories over maintenance it, you will gain a pound. This is probably unlikely, so if you do gain weight it will be water retention mostly. Last Saturday, I did the same thing and the scale went up 2 pounds. There was no way I ate 7000 calories over maintenance, but its Wednesday and I'm still not back to my pre-"binge" weight. Just get back on track, forget about it, don't try to make up for it tomorrow because you may induce another "binge". Try to plan your day better, so unexpected meals don't come up and you end up going over. I say "binge" because people have different views on a what a binge is. Although, you probably just ate a lot more than you planned, I don't think it was an actual binge where you can't stop eating. |

| Weight Loss | Where did you lose your weight first? | Mar 12 2009 01:02 (UTC) |
17 |
I've lost ~5 pounds and I noticed it first in my wrists and ankles. I'm small framed and have always had tiny ankles until I gained weight ~15 pounds, so I was excited to notice something. Even when I was thinner, I always had a tummy and still do 8 pounds thinner. Don't notice a diff. there. I think you do lose weight in the last place you gained because where your body tends to store weight first is determined genetically, so it would make sense that you would lose weight first where your body didn't really want to store fat in the first place. Just watching my body i've noticed this. Everyone is different and everyone stores weight in a diff place. So, I think if you're body is prone to storing weight in the tummy, it will be hardest to lose weight there. |

Keep eating breakfast. you will get used to it. I used to be in the same boat, but now i understand why. The hunger feeling is good because it means ur metabolism is workin! When Im really in a hurry, I have a slim fast high protein in the car (190 cals) n a 50 calorie snack before lunch. The slim fast keeps me really full because it has protein and fiber. When I'm not in a hurry, I have a coffee with skim milk and oatmeal or some kind of protein and fiber! |

gi jane- 6g is 6000mg not 2400mg. so is the average person allowed 2.4g or 6g?? So the 10g is 10,000mg! Wow, that is a ridiculous amt of salt!! Also, you are def. not alone. Anytime i eat anything frozen, my sodium shoots sky high, but if i make my own food, its usually never an issue. Salt is a preservative so it will be in anything that is processed. Drink plenty of water if u know ur gonna take in lots of sodium. |

| Weight Loss | What exactly is considered a "cheat day"? | Mar 08 2009 21:31 (UTC) |

Maybe it's not a binge by clinical standards, but you're eating more than you want to and you cant stop. What's the word for that then? I may have not hit 3500 cals, but 2300 is still a lot for me! Eating over maintenance is a problem- that's why were here! Yes, the term binge is overused, but when u eat 1000 cals over maintance it's still a "binge" even if u haven't hit 3500 cals.

I don't really plan cheat days, they just happen. Like yesterday, my cravings got the best of me and I ate about 2305 calories! which is 1000 calories about my calorie target, but i feel like I have it out of my system and can move on! It's true that my cheat days also tend to turn into binge days and I eat anything and everything. Yesterday i literally spent all day eating up my 2305 calories! Probably more, but honestly I don't even remember all I ate. So count ur cheat days and maybe they wont be as bad. |
