The Lounge Come here to complain about anything and everything! Apr 23 2009

I'm sick of working at a place where I am constantly frustrated, annoyed, and stressed. I'm sick of no one caring about the inet team EXCEPT the inet crew! I'm sick of the people who I get my information from not communicating with me. I'm sick of people not understanding simple common sense when it comes to organization. I'm sick of all the last minute changes that make me drop everything I'm in the process of working on. I'm sick of all the changes that are being made in the hopes that our company will actually succeed.

I hate not knowing what I actually want to do with my life. I hate being at a cross roads - wanting to leave my job, but not knowing what to do next and not wanting to start a new job with this economy.

I hate PMSing. I hate the fact that I have eaten and eaten and eaten the last couple days and STILL want to eat! All I want to do is eat sweets and 1) there aren't any in the house and 2) duh, I'm trying to LOSE. I hate feeling guilty over what I eat.

I'm sick of not having a libido. Why can't I just want to have sex with my boyfriend? Er, edit - why can't I have the drive to do it? (sorry if this was tmi)

oh so many other things...but i think i'll stop for now. Thanks!!

Original Post by sybil878:

Should I expect the doggy daycare to pay the vet bill since they were not properly supervising the dogs?

Should I take my dog back to play there again? I'm leaning towards no, but he's been going there for over 6 months 3 or 4 times a week with no incidents.

ABSOLUTELY YES the daycare should and I believe actually NEEDS to pay for the bill. I used to work at a doggy daycare and pretty sure that it was part of the procedure that if something happened, then they would be the ones to pay for it. Note - do not just take it to someone working there - take it to the manager. If they refuse, take it to the corporate office.

Dog fights do happen at the daycares, unfortunately. But when an animal is actually injured, then it is their responsibility to ensure the animal gets proper care and they need to pay for it.

In regards to taking your dog back, it's really your call. You can state that you do NOT want your dog in the same play room as the dog that attacked. Or maybe see if they have an individual play option. Obviously the staff will definitely be on the lookout for more aggressive behavior from that other dog. But like I said, dog fights do happen, and it's not as horrible as it seems - unless one gets hurt, of course. There are typically behaviors that lead up to the attack, as opposed to just biting.

Talk to the daycare; express your concerns. This is not the first fight that has happened and they definitely have procedures in place for concerned "parents".

I'm right along with ya!! Ham, lots of bread, cheesy potatoes, lots of cookies, cake, wine...ugh...i'm SOOOO full. It's amazing how my stomach really revolted too. It just can't handle all that rich food like it yesterday. But I worked out this morning, so I knew that would help, but definitely not combat it. But yeah, getting right back on track tomorrow!!

Original Post by meima:

I would also read through your membership agreement (if you have one) and read anything in there about bringing "your own" children to the gym, and the "rules" for that.  I'd bet somewhere it's indicated they are not to be playing on the equipment.  If need be, you might be able to get out of your contract (again, if you have one) if they've broken their own agreement.

As someone who has worked in Child Welfare, I find it highly concerning that these kids are left to their own devices, around equipment that can be dangerous to ADULTS, let alone little ones who don't know to keep their fingers out of places, and not try and pick up 30lb weights etc...

As meima said - there is probably a contract or rules that specifically address children in the weight/workout rooms. I belong to the Y and so there are definitely going to be kids there, but NO ONE under the age of either 15 or 13 (I don't really remember...) is allowed in the workout and weight room unless they are being supervised.

That's totally BS that they think they can get away with it just because they are the owners. When you do talk to them, mention that you have spoken with others and they are not happy with the situation either and this could lead to members quitting. You could also possibly mention calling CPS (child protection services) as like meima said, this is a very unsafe condition for children 3-11 to be in!! Shoot, I've pinched my fingers in weights and I'm an adult!! Plus if they get on a treadmill and think it's fun to try and speed it up super quick and they fly off the back... Oh the things that could happen!

Not only is this a bad business practice, this is also bad parenting on their part. If they have a child supervision area, this is where their children should be - in a place where they have appropriate equipment and actual fun stuff for the kids to play with!

The Lounge Only 70 days? Eep! Apr 02 2009

Whoa....definitely not going for 80lbs by my b-day! I'm not that crazy! Laughing I'm just going for 20. LOL The 80 is overall. Maybe by my next b-day?

I'm trying...I really am. And if I don't hit the mark by my b-day, that's okay, so long as I get close. I just really want to see that scale moving down, feel my clothes getting looser, and feel better overall. I just need a date in mind because otherwise I'll just be like "oh whatever...it'll come off as it comes off" and not really work hard. And until I get myself and my weight under control, I know this is going to be a battle and I have to work hard. I've lost the weight before (although I've never been this heavy) and I know I can do it again, I just didn't have to work as hard last time... So it's just kinda a shock to me I think...

That's a really great idea though about setting the number of days a week I want to work out! I'm not a morning person, although sometimes I can workout in the mornings and otherwise I work out after work...so that'll definitely help because then I know that if I want to do it 4 days a week and I've already skipped 2, I need to plan my week around my workouts...

I realize I'm rambling, sorry! Smile I just feel like although I've been doing this for some time now, this is when I'm really getting serious about it and my *new* life. So sometimes writing it out helps... I really appreciate the advice - thanks guys!

Please remember, nothing will yield results quickly. The first thing you'll feel is  a sense of accomplishment, then you'll notice more energy. You'll be smiling more and want to keep working out. The days when you really don't want to work out, are the days when you need to the most, imo.

Most important...Do not be scared or nervous. This is your body, you are in total and complete control of what you do with it. That's empowering, not scary!

I have faith! HOpe that helps.

Thanks for the replies guys! I'm really really working on working out more often - I really do love the feeling of it afterwards!! I just get bored so quickly that I sometimes find it hard to go back and do it all over again. As much pain/soreness I have right now (I hate jumping jacks - they kill my calves!!) I know that I worked them out good and that really helps drive me...

And you're right S&B - I AM in control...I just have to remember that. Maybe that's what's so scary. That I'm the only one accountable for myself.

Or you could get a group of people starting at very obese all the way down to super skinny and do a very slow 30 second pan across them, each in a different insecure pose, one covering their belly another covering their face.

I really like this idea for you - because that's just it - no matter what size they are, almost everyone is uncomfortable in their own skin. they each have something that they hate or at least want to change. and it's not just overweight people who see the need to lose weight - if it was, we wouldn't have so many people with eating disorders.

a little piece advice - remember to include both females and males, black, white, young (well, hopefully no one too young - we don't want them worrying yet!!), old, etc. Having a good mix will help show that the problem with body image is not focused on one type of person, but all persons. and i think that will help you reach more people.

i'm right along with ya! just earlier this week, i was in a crappy mood, so i wanted comfort food - a nice big plate of spaghetti. OMG did i feel sick afterwards!! it was just the reminder that i needed to point out that i don't eat like i used to, and that's a very good thing! i also find myself assessing certain "goodies" and asking myself if they are really worth it. i even checked the nutrion label on some ice cream packs the other night and decided not to buy because "they just weren't worth it"! I'm working getting my BF to read labels as well... he's in this with me, but just doesn't like to do the work. but i think he's starting to come around...

okay, enough of my rambling. Laughing point is - i'm finding myself eating a lot less, not being as "happy" when i overeat, and weighing out the "is it worth it?" treats.

But I would NOT be encouraging a YOUNG child with tattoos!

So this is a bit off the subject,  but what about those fun little "press on tattoos" that you can get through the little toy machines? (sorry, I can't think of the name!! it's the one that you put a quarter or two into and get a little plastic ring or toy) or all the little stickers that are marketed for girls to stick on their faces and bodies? "tattoos" for kids have been around for quite some time and this is just another venue. Personally, I loved those stickers and tattoos, but it certainly did not influence me to get my tattoo or my next!

And really - shouldn't we be concentrating on more important issues out there right now? How about the new candy "craq" or however it's spelled that looks like little packets of street crack - it's even sold in little clear plastic baggies!!

But when I got on the scale on Thursday, I was down 2.2 from just last week - guess those "liquid diets" do good!! kidding - I was just drinking lots and lots to try and keep my fever down and get rid of the sickness.

BUT i shall try again come March! Good luck to you all!
