Evidence where the guilty party somehow admits guilt or is caught lying.

One example being the accuser writes the accused an email telling him, "I am going to ruin your life, I am going to tell the company that you sexually harassed me! you'll never cheat on me again!"

Sexual harassment can be a serious offense and ruin someone's career, so I beleive the accused should be innocent until proven guilty as opposed to guilty until proven innocent without due process.

But would a lack of a conviction automatically make it a "false" claim? If the boss(of either gender) harrasses an employee (of either gender again), and then has the means to hire a ten times better lawyer that gets them off scott free, will the victim then automatically be in trouble just for trying to seek justice?

A false claim would be a claim with evidence to support it. The amount of pain the accused has to go through by being labled a "harasser" must be not be ignored.

If the person gets caught lying, they should receive a very harsh punishment. The message should be make a false claim at your own risk because it is a felony.

Was this article about "unjustified sexual harassment claims" from the Glenn Sacks website or the Rush Limbaugh? Did it talk about WHY exactly these cases were deemed "unjustified"? EEOC does find higher instances of unreasonable cause than reasonable cause (and here's a link to that instead of just a vague statement that "I read it somewhere once"):

Those who make false claims of harassment should be punished in some way. I would even go as far as to say a felony.

No reasonable cause could mean a lot of things including no reasonable cause. lol

Actually, I know of a place that no longer has young men in their front room, after they found out that young women were perceived to be more "welcoming" by their visitors...I think their findings may have even been more harsh:  The guys were actually scaring people away...

Old stereotypes die hard...

I would say at least 85% of the customer service jobs in my town are taken by women. All the men are hidden away somewhere, I can't seem to find them. The men must have factory jobs, truck jobs,  car repair jobs, physical labor jobs, coal mining jobs, long distance jobs or any job that doesn't require them to greet someone vis-a-vis.

Children should take responsbility for their own actions and stop acting like children!

Yet if children do get fat, the parent(s) should be charged with a class 1 misdemeanor punishable by 12 months in jail and a fine up to $2,500 dollars.

I wish I had a diet plan with high protein and low carbs written by someone else so I wouldn't have to think about it, and just eat what I'm told to eat.

I thought bodybuilders were doing the high protein low carb diet thing for decades.

In this video of Taubes, he sounds like he is promoting the Atkin's diet.

Here Taubes talks some smack about low calorie diets.

My biggest problem is that I never have a "planned route". I like to go wherever I feel like! And if I try to map it afterwards, I can't remember exactly where I went and in what order. lol

I do the same thing, but I usually map out a new route before I go for a jog or walk. If I take the same route everyday, I feel like I'm in a padded room.

A heartrate monitor with GPS sounds like something James Bond would use. lol Timex makes one... cool.

Ummm maybe people should find problem with the one who COMMITS sexual harrassment and not the one who files a grievance against it? Don't want lawsuits? Crack down on your employees committing sexual harrassment against their co-workers.

Too much time, money, and litigation I suppose. It'd probably be easier for a company to hire a man with the same job skills as a woman, and avoid the whole sexual harassment thing since they report it more than men.

I also read an article that said a large number of those sexual harassment claims are unjustified according to the EEOC.

Since the Lilly Ledbetter Act was signed into law, that could set off a huge number of discrimination lawsuits, so that could intimidate employers. Moreover, I beleive I read that the EEOC said a lot of those pay discrimination claims were also unjustified meaning it actually wasn't happening. But you'll have to check on the EEOC website about that one.

P.S. You added an extra "R" in harassment. lol.. I did that too not too long ago.

Spiro you head hunt primarily sales positions, yes? Part of the problem is that it's an employer's market.

Employers like young guys because they are cheaper to insure and they don't have to pay them as much as their older male counterparts. There is a perception that they're 'hungry'.  Younger women are still considered unknowledgeable, especially in sales, and older women are expensive to insure - not to mention we're just....old.....and unpretty. :)

Men are less likley to bring up lawsuits of sexual harassment and pay discrimination as well.

I have never done a drug test or given my legal, medical or credit history when I have applied for and gotten a job.

I also work for a recruting agency and we tend to see that most want a 40-50 year old man...but we tend to do more exec. level placements...but women have it hard for sure...

I had to give my credit history, legal history (all except for minor driving offenses), and agree to random drug testing. Yet these jobs were not government jobs or jobs that required specific skills. A little invasive, but oh well, sometimes you don't have a choice.

Just be thankful that you are in the USA if they can be age group specific, in the UK it's called ageist and against the law. No employer is permitted to let it be known that they are looking for young people only and if a potential employee outwith that age group is even hinted at that they are too old they have the employer over a barrel.

I beleive there is some title in the civil rights act of 64' that permits employers to hire people based on sex, age, and so on. Kind of like when Hooters hires only young hot women or Mexican restaurants hire only mexicans.

In America, it is mandatory to give each potential employer your DNA sample along with credit history, legal history, and medical history.

Fitness cardio: before or after weights... or not at all? Mar 18 2009

After I do cardio, I have no energy to do weight lifting. After I do weight lifting, I have no energy to do interval training.

My solution was to do them either at different times of day such as cardio in the morning and weights at noon or do them on separate days.

If I had to, I would do weights before cardio because I'm less likley to kill myself using a cardio machine than running out of energy and dropping a weight on my head or having a weak workout because of the cardio.

The 15 minutes before and after option sounds ideal! I might try that one.

If they went crazy over the word penis they have some issues to work out. Wink what word would they prefer to use to describe that body part?

It's not the word itself that can be dirty, it's the context the word is used in that can create problems such as, "Suck my penis" in reference to a police officer as opposed to a doctor telling a man's wife, "Yes, I'm afraid he has cancer of the penis."

Holy Bold Print, Batman.

Using one of those mapping websites is the easiest way to calculate your distance IMO. That is unless your street isn't on there, then you could choose a different route or use your car to map out the distance.

Thank you so much for your reply.. so I guess I'm not THAT much over the daily recommended amount...

I do eat fresh A LOT.. eggs, fruit, veggies, bread (whole wheat), brown rice.... I never eat out.. i don't know, i guess the salt just seems to add up!

If I drink extra water, will that keep water retention at bay?

I bought some instant brown rice the other day, and it had nearly 800 milligrams of sodium in it which is odd considering the noninstant whole grain brown rice had 0 grams in it.

Eggs, fruit, and veggies have hardly any sodium, my only guess is it's coming from your rice and bread. Give more detail?

And no, you can't reduce your sodium levels substanially by drinking more water. Read here for more info.

Health & Support Since fruit has natural sugar in it, is it bad to eat too much of it? Mar 17 2009

Fruits are  very low in protein and good fats (except avocados), which will leave you with an pretty imbalanced macronutrient ratio. Moreover, a diet mainly composed of fruit can be imbalanced in phytonutrients and vitamins.

Fruits tend to be low to moderate on the glycemic index with the exception of watermelon, so they won't cause diabetes like soda, syrups, and cakes will.

Some people in the fitness industry claim that high fruit diets can adversely affect your weight loss efforts due to the sugar in fruit being stored as fat when the sugar is not used or stored in the liver or muscles. As a result, these people eat low carb fruit such as raspberries and discard high carb fruit such as bananas while increasing their protein and good fat intake.

Bloating, sotmach pains, diarrhea caused by fruit consumption could be caused by an intolerance to fructose, a sugar predominantly found in fruit. And of course it could be fiber.

A ton of grip strength exercises here

  • Plate pinch
  • power holds
  • power rack grabs
  • hangs
  • plate curls
  • Wrist curls

You can look these up on YouTube.

How to Deadlift. This Deadlifting video is the best video I've ever seen on the art of deadlifting. When you deadlift, use an overhand grip for your lighter sets and a mixed grip for your heavier sets.

You can also use Wrist straps for your deadlifts, they should sell them at any sporting goods stores, but don't be too dependent upon them because they can hinder grip strength. Use them for really heavy sets or when your grip gives out on you.

Pullups are difficult for beginners, this video will give you some alternative exercises that help you build pullup and chinup strength.

After using numerous online activity calculators including Calorie counts', walking for 48 minutes at 4.5mph at your height and weight would be somewhere in the ballpark of 350 to 420 calories. Running at 5.0mph for 12 minutes would be 100 to 140 calories.

So, I would say the online calculator is about right.

Use first person point of view (POV) of someone walking on the street.

As you pass each person you come across on the street, look into the person's face (with the camera since it's first person) and let them depict with with their bodies only the seven deadly sins. At the end of the video, look into a reflective glass at yourself to expose that your only sin is being overweight.

Your BIG message is " Is being overweight a sin?" You don't literally mean sin of course, you mean something that people are punished or sanctioned for because it does not fall into the norm.

That needs some tweaking due to ambiguity, but it is money.

LOL I know, it's stupid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cry

Makeup and heels, per se, are not oppressive. Being REQUIRED to wear them every day, by cultural convention (and being judged harshly if you don't), is where it gets oppressive. Choosing to gussy up to look nice is not a bad thing, one could say that it's just a standard mammalian mating display. It is unfortunate when the extremes come into play and leave women damaged: foot-binding, for instance, or plastic surgery.

Both men and women are required to conform to some convention based on a gender role or what is "right" despite the discomfort that it may bring.

Walmart is currently trying to close a local grocery store that has operated here for over 50+ years.

A lot of the meat and produce at Walmart are subpar and wretched, but they do have occasional good prices and items that I can not find at the other grocery store. Overall, I would rather shop at my local grocery store as opposed to the God aka Walmart.

Take away his car?!?!?! Make him use the bus and pick him up every other weekend. Offer to help him get his license back and his car if he receives treatment for his alcohol abuse problems and shows progress with no more sanctions or other problems.

I find it peculiar that he is only 18, and already has that many problems as a result of alcohol. This could be a result of immaturity, irresponsibility, and stubbornness when it comes to alcohol use, or it could be indicate of a more serious problem.

He may not have the cravings and loss of control, but he definitely has the substance abuse problems.

It seems a huge problem since it's going to destroy his life, yet denial is strong in this one. I'm surprised the university he is at does not make him attend a class on substance abuse problems due to his DUI and dorm sanctions.

Seek the help of an addiction specialist to understand what you're dealing with, and ways to prevent it from progressing.

This site will give you more info on alcohol abuse and alcoholism.

The A&E channel has a show called Intervention that documents the lives of substance abusers and many of those people are alcoholics. The show can give you insight into what the lifestyle of an addict is like, and you can watch all the episodes on the website.

In one episode of Intervention, a guy in his early 30's has advanced cirrhosis of the liver from drinking, but continues to deny that he has a problem. That episode is here.
