I am not sure how artificial sweeteners effect not only my diet, but also my health, so I look at them as junk food and include them sparely (just like fat and sugar). I would not worry about it if crystal light is the only artificial sweetener you have in the day, as with everything else, just don't over indulge. When I get tried of plain water I have unsweetened iced tea. Try the herbal teas, they are great iced and you do not miss the sweetness. Or try mixing 1 part juice to 3 parts water. |

lol, when I lost weight to from an very full B, to a A. I agree with rawly, Victoria's Secret is a savior. Try the Very Sexy bra, I love the padding it looks very natural. I look at padding as there to enhance what you already have. If you have too much padding it will look fake.
1- easier to exercise 2- no sagging!!!! 3- you do not have to adjust for the girls, so you can buy smaller tops. 4- you can wear all the really cute bras, that do not support out larger friends If anyone has any others I would love to hear them!!!! |

| Weight Loss | Sit down job | Jun 27 2009 00:31 (UTC) |

Your post sounds just like me last year... I was 160 and 5'6'' with a lot of belly fat. I am now 135 and the belly fat is gone!!! I did nothing special, but cardio, eat healthier and eat less. I hope it works out just as well for you =) I also have a sit down job. My office is mostly men who can eat what ever they want. I see ice cream, candy and fried food every day. AND to make things even worse there are free snacks!!! As other posters have said I plan healthy snacks into my calorie count. Yogurt and strawberries with a little cereal on top is one of my favorites. Also raw broccoli with a little dip is very filling. All the guys laugh my my little baggies of snacks, but hey I loss 25 pounds so who is laughing now!!! One other suggestion, if you do not mind artificial sweeteners, try sugar free hard candy. Most only 6-9 calories a piece and it take the edge off when your co-worker across the table is eating M&Ms. |

| Weight Loss | The "eat less meat" challange! | Jun 22 2009 01:56 (UTC) |

Good Luck with your challenge Carbivore!! I fell into the habit of eating less meat purely my accident. I found beans and tofu just tastier and easier to prepare. One day I realized I had not eaten meat in weeks. I now usually only eat meat while eating out. I do eat a lot of dairy and egg whites to make sure I get enough protein every day. Without meat is is very easy to not get enough protein, I would just keep an eye on how much protein you are eating. I saw you did not mention tofu in your challenge, if you have not tried it I would highly recommend it. For a quick, easy, cheap and healthy dinner, I stir fry extra firm tofu chunks, that add any stir fry sauce. Add veggies and some whole grains and you have a great meal. You can also marinade it. I put the left overs on my salad for lunch. Good luck!! I never missed meat!! |

I just got home from shopping for smaller clothes (my old clothes are now 2 sizes too big). I am only a few pounds from my goal weight, but on a limited budget. I went to an outlet mall. If you have an outlet mall near you I would check it out.... it is worth the drive if it is a little ways away. The outlet mall near me has coupons you can print online when you sign up for their free shoppers club. They also have a coupon book you can there with a AAA card. The prices at the outlets are a lot cheaper than the regular mall and the coupons get you some really great deals. I am not petite, but most the stores at the outlet mall had a pretty good sized petite department. One of the other posters mentioned H&M which I love!! They are great if you are looking for cheap trendy pieces. Congratulations on your weight loss!!!

Trust me, I know the feeling. I am also eating 1200 calories a day. I have been eating 1200 a day since April. At first I was always hungry, but I found food that kept me full longer. I eat a lot of fruits and veggies, I put them with everything. What every you are eating add lots fruits and veggies. Soups is also great and filling. I take the heat and serve soups and add lots of veggies and some whole grains. Also, make sure you have protein and fiber with every meal. Both of these help you feel fuller longer. Try planning snacks in your calorie allowance. I have berries and yogurt for a morning snack, and crackers with fruit in the afternoon. Remember 1200 is the minimum calories you should eat a day, so it is OK to go over by a little while still staying on track. If you do eat more that 1200, but less than you burn you will still lose weight, just not as fast. GOOD LUCK!!! |

GI Jane's description of this book is right on. I own this book and have read it multiple times. The main message of the book it to enjoy your food, but in moderation. This is one of the books I read when I am getting tried of my diet and it always reminds me to slow down and enjoy my food, which helps me stay on track. Having a small bowl of good ice cream at the table is much more satisfying (and lower calorie) than the whole carton of low fat ice cream in from of the TV. If your library does not have this book, I would say it is worth buying. You could also try talking to the librarian, most libraries are in a network where they can order books from other libraries for you if they do not have it. |

| Weight Loss | do you buy your trigger foods just to pretend that you have a normal life? | Jun 01 2009 01:57 (UTC) |

First, just because you are counting calories does not mean you do not have a normal live. If it is causing you this must stress to not eat sweets, I would try to include a limited amount in you diet. My trigger food is salt, if I eat one cracker I want the whole box! Since I love these foods I try to eat them when I cannot get to the rest of the box, like having them for a snack at work. The fist thing I always do when buying a large box of snacks is portion them out in to snack size bags, 50 calories each. This way even if I do eat them at home, they are measured so I do not eat the whole box. When you do eat a trigger food and are craving more, do something go for a walk, read a book, just something to get you mind off eating more sweets. Have you tried the kettle corn popcorn? It is sweet and you get quite a bit for only 100 calories (look for the snack size bags) and it fills you up. |

| Calorie Count | Is it OK to save calories for another day? | May 31 2009 14:36 (UTC) |

I posted almost this same question last week in the Weight Loss forum. No one thought it was a good idea to eat less than 1200 calorie to make up for a cheat day. One poster made a really good point, if you eat less than 1200 calories one day you will be extra hungry the next day and more likely to overeat. If you sit down for a high calorie meal when extra hungry you will be more likely to eat more than if you had eaten regularly earlier. A few posters also recommended exercising extra to make up for some of the extra calories. Since I started calorie counting my rule when going out to eat, it is only eat half of what is on the plate. As soon as I get my food, I split it in half. Only I have eaten half I either have the waiter take the plate away or wrap up the left overs, so I not temped to eat any more. Also, try to review the menu online before going so you can make a smart choice. |

| Weight Loss | Can you suggest a good book on diet and nutrition?? | May 31 2009 01:39 (UTC) |

I also loved 'French Women Don't Get Fat' !!!! It gives you a whole new outlook on eating. It is probably not the diet and nutrition you are looking for, but really worth a read.

| Weight Loss | Yogurt: good or bad??? | May 31 2009 01:30 (UTC) |

If you like yogurt, I would include it in your diet. If you do not like yogurt, don't eat it. It is a healthy food and high is calcium. If you do choose to include yogurt, I would compare labels carefully. A lot of yogurt is really high in sugar. Personally, I love fat-free plain greek yogurt. It only had 120 calories in a cup. I mix it with what ever fresh fruit I have. It is great in smoothies also. |

| Health & Support | B Vitamins - How should I take them? | May 27 2009 01:34 (UTC) |

I am not sure about the specifics for vitamin B (I take a multi-vitamin). I would recommend taking vitamins with a meal and a full glass of water. The food and water helps your body digest the supplement. |

| Weight Loss | When did your body get use to the increase in water intake? How many months? | May 26 2009 23:58 (UTC) |

You said you are drinking a gallon of water a day! I think that is a lot more than you need. The normal recommendation for water is 8 - 10 eight ounce glasses, which is 64 - 80 ounces. A gallon is 128 ounces, so you are drinking twice what you need. |
