Hey guys,

I think I forgot to check in on Friday. So I'm doing it now... I weighed in at 140lbs. But then I had a horrible weekend filled with alcohol and yummy food so now I probably weigh more lol. Oh well, I'm back on track today.

Fitness Does anyone do pilates? Nov 16 2008

Original Post by kaila_a:

k pilatesss is HARD.   right after i run for an hour 8 miles i started doing 10 minute abs dvd 6times a week. my advice is if you are already small do pilates it will give you definition.....it gave me a flat stomach and you will definitely notice a difference.  i used to do them before i started my intense cardio and didn't notice much of a differency...i would say to pair it with a high intensity cardio workout and you'll see results within a few weeks.

 Nooooo.

Start lifting weights instead. :)

Hey everyone,

So I've done really well this entire week, which I am quite happy about. Today I finished stage one of the New Rules of Lifting for Women workouts. I still have two "special workouts" to do before moving onto stage two.

Ugh.. tomorrow is going to suck. I hate Thursdays. I work from 12pm-8pm, come home and get a couple hours of sleep, then I'm back in the office at 6:30am. It just sucks because I waste the entire day at work, and when I get there on Friday it feels like I never left lol.

Oh well, at least I get to weigh in on Friday. I'm actually excited to weigh in this week since last weigh in it was TTOM and I've done so well this week. Maybe I will get into the 130's! One can only hope...

WooHoo! I actually stayed on track this weekend! I didn't drink at all, I stayed within my calorie limits, and I even did some HIIT on Saturday. Normally I completely blow it on weekends so I'm pretty happy that I didn't. Well, I'm off to go workout now.

How is everybody else doing?

I did really good this weekend as well. I stayed within my calorie range, and did some HIIT on Saturday.

Motto #1: I can have fun without alcohol!

I didn't drink all weekend... Thats the first time in months! (10 points)

Motto #2: I choose people over food!

I hung out with my friend all day Saturday. (10 points)

Motto #3: I can eat out without going overboard!

I didn't eat out at all this weekend. (10 points)

Motto #4: I can treat myself without food!

I didn't end up taking a bath. But I did play some playstation, and I haven't played in a really long time so it was nice. (10 points)

Total: 40 points. :)

Foods movie popcorn Nov 08 2008

Well, according to www.calorieking.com ... (These calorie counts are not specific to silvercity popcorn, they are general estimates of popcorn at the movies.)

Small Popcorn, No Butter Added - 573 calories.

Medium Popcorn, No Butter Added - 951 calories.

Large Popcorn, No Butter Added - 1283 calories.

That's a huge amount of calories to waste on popcorn! You could always do what I do and pop a bag of Smart Pop at home and take it with you. Only 100 calories and you still get to enjoy popcorn at the movies. Yes, I realize it's not as good as the popcorn at the movies but that's the sacrifice we make lol. My friends make fun of me all the time for doing it, but I don't care. It's worth the teasing because not only do you save ALOT of calories, but you also save ALOT of money!

I know, but it's so hard! Lol, I tried not to drink last weekend. But I got really nervous because it was my friend's birthday and some people who I used to be friends with were there but now we all basically hate each other. So it was really awkward, and I just started chugging back those rum and cokes! Hahaha... Oh, I'm going to give it a shot next weekend though if my friends want to go clubbing. At least at a club you can dance and have fun without drinking. I refuse to go out with them if they are just going to college parties though, because that's basically sitting around a table and drinking until you can barely stand up haha.

And so it begins...

Motto #1: I can have fun without alcohol!

     - This is going to be a tough one for me. I'm a big drinker, and since I'm eighteen, my nights don't usually consist of a couple of drink at a social dinner with friends. We normally just head over to Quebec (I live in Ontario) and go clubbing since the drinking age is eighteen there, not nineteen like it is here. We always drink way too much and honestly, I don't know how we get home half the time lol. But everyone is going out drinking tonight but I said no. (Yay me! lol)

Motto #2: I choose people over food!

     - I will probably be able to do this over the weekend. I socialize with my friends and without food quite often so this shouldn't be a problem.

Motto #3: I can eat out without going overboard!

     - My parents actually JUST asked me to go out to dinner with them but I said no. Thank god I don't like Chinese food haha. Normally I wouldn't be able to resist lol.

Motto #4: I can treat myself without food!

     - I'm going to have a bubble bath! (So relaxing, and I haven't had one in forever.)

Hopefully everyone's weekend goes well!

Hey guys! I'm pretty excited about this new challenge as well. I just weighed in this morning so here's the deal lol...

Starting Weight for Challenge: 141 lbs

Goal Weight for Challenge: 131 lbs

Hopefully we can all achieve our New Years goals. Anyway, I just bought and set up my new weight bench today (Yes! My home gym is finally complete!) and I want to use it! Haha, so I'm going to go workout now. :)

Why are you so discouraged changling? A one pound loss is great! I mean, the scale is going in the right direction so you should be happy! Look at the alternative, you could be like me and you could have gained two pounds this week! Lol.

Yeah, so I'm up to 141lbs from 139lbs. But last week I went out drinking the night before so I was dehydrated, and this week it's TTOM, so my numbers are probably completely innacurate! Oh well.

I just bought a new exercise bench (I work out at home) so I'm going to set it up today so that should be good. Well, I'm off to go workout now. :)

changling: Believe me, I tried to get her to lift weights with me lol. But she said that she didn't want to. She never does any exercise anymore. Oh well, it made me feel alot better about myself when I came back upstairs after my workout feeling energized while she was passed out on my couch. Looks like she might have benefitted from some exercise afterall! Lol. Do you do a belly dancing dvd or do you go to a class? It sounds interesting.

Count me in. Weekends are absolutely HORRIBLE for me. Last weekend was brutal, and I still feel bad about it. Hopefully this will help me to be more accountable for this weekend and for future weekends. :)

So I managed to stay away from the ice cream yesterday, and I worked out today. Although today is supposed to be both weight lifting and cardio, I just did the weight lifting. I work out at home and I had a friend over so I would have felt bad if I had of left her sitting alone watching TV for over an hour! Lol 45 minutes was long enough. Am I a bad hostess? Haha. Anyway, I'm just going to do some cardio along with my weight lifting on Friday instead.

I'm dreading getting on the scale again this Friday. I know I have probably gained a pound or two. Maybe more! Who knows. Ugh.. Oh well, losing weight is a slow process.

jcr: It's not dumb to post that you had a good day! Hopefully we all will be able to post that today.

----------

Unfortunately, the last few days have been bad for me. Mainly due to drinking and then overeating unhealthy food afterwards. But I'm back on track today, and hopefully I don't give in to temptation tonight... there's tons of yummy ice cream in the freezer calling my name, but I will have to ignore it lol.

I'll join in! This is exactly what I need to help me stay on track over the holidays. Sadly, this is the longest I've stayed "on the wagon" so to speak and its only been a month! Normally I get bored and give up after a couple weeks. So I really want to stay on the wagon this time and not give up.

My goals:

  • Do the NROLFW workouts 3 times per week. Along with HIIT and some cardio.
  • Drink at least 3 litres of water a day.
  • Try one new healthy recipe or food each week.
  • Stay within my calorie limits each day.
  • Only drink one night a week.
  • Be between 130-135lbs by New Years.

If I can do all that I will be extremely proud of myself, and well on my way to achieving my ultimate goal of being healthy and fit.

I'm on these forums alot, (I only work three days a week and since most of my friends are in busy at college, I'm bored at home quite a bit haha) so I will be checking in quite frequently.

Good luck everyone! Hopefully by the New Years we will all be healthier and happier!

curepsp: Yes that is right except you do not want to do 15 reps of the prone jacknife. You are supposed to start out with 8 reps and work your way to 15 by the end of stage one. The same is true for the crunches in workout B.

Finish stage one of the New Rules of Lifting for Women workouts. (Ultimate goal is to finish all the stages obviously, but I have to take this one step at a time lol)

Be able to do a one-armed push up!

You could make roast potatoes. I just scrub them (but leave the skins on), chop them up into chunks and put them in a roasting dish with some oil, salt, pepper, seasoning salt, and garlic powder. Cook them in the oven at 450 for 45 minutes to an hour. They are amazing!

Also, you could try www.allrecipes.com as they have alot of good recipes. Also they have a tool where you can search for recipes by their ingredients. So I'm sure that if you search for potato recipes you will get tons of great ideas. :)

Yeah, I try to lay off the sodium slightly. But that's about it. There's not much you can do in a day to try to ensure a positive number. It's all about what you've done since your previous weigh in.

I was singing this at work ALL day. But I LOVE this song, so it's all okay. (Go Ask Alice by Jefferson Airplane)

One pill makes you larger
And one pill makes you small
And the ones that mother gives you
Don't do anything at all

Go ask Alice
When shes ten feet tall
And if you go chasing rabbits
And you know you're going to fall

Tell them a hookah-Smoking caterpillar
has given you the call
Call Alice when she was just small
When the men on the chess board get up and tell you where to go

And you just had some kind of mushroom
And your mind is moving slow
Go ask Alice
I think she'll know

When logic and proportion
Have fallen SLOPPY dead
And the white knight is talking backwards
And the Red Queen's LOST her head
Remember what the dormouse said

Feed your head
Feed your head

I think you should make an actual group now. I think it's nice if we only have a few members because it's more personal and we can get to know each other. I don't know what you should call it. Something witty and clever though lol. :)

Yeah, being on a campus must be difficult. I have some friends who live in residence at Algonquin College, Ottawa U, and Carleton U, (I live in Ottawa lol) and they are ALWAYS drinking. They even drink in between classes lol. Luckily I don't have that problem because I decided to take a year off and work before going to University. But it's still hard because I'm a big drinker haha.

Let's hope that one cheat day IS beneficial to losing weight! And as for ideas on how to stop? Let me know when you've figured that secret out! Lol.

I'll join your group! :)

I'm also 18 years old. I'm 5'6, and 142lbs. I'm trying to get down to around 125 ish. I just started to lose weight (yet again) a little over a week ago. I think a group would really help me to be accountable for my slip ups. Weekends are my biggest problem. I go out with my friends, drink way too much, and then usually stop at McDonald's on the way home lol. So now I'm only allowing myself to drink once a week (Today is my day to drink, yay!). Oh, and I'm doing the New Rules of Lifting for Women program. Speaking of which, I should probably go work out now haha.
