Health & Support Could coffee make my stomach hurt? Nov 05 2009

I would say it's the acid coffee - I wouldn't worry too much.  I am a coffee FIEND but sometimes when I drink low quality coffee or drink it on an empty stomach the same thing happens to me. starbucks coffee is the worst- they roast their beans and let them sit for ages so some of the oils go rancid and can be quite harsh on digestion.  Maybe try adding a little milk/drinking it after you've eaten something.

Thanks everyone!

gi-jane: yup a couple of those definitely apply.  I have started addressing the eating problem and am increasing my calories slowly.  As for the different accommodation...unfortunately it's not going to happen this year, but I have made it well known that I will not be returning to the house next year (neither will a few of my housemates if the situation with this girl continues...)

chrissycoff: I know from experience that at the weight I am now, I would not be getting a period if I went off birth control. Thanks to it though, I'm getting 2 a month - i can't win!

tessa: I plan on being fully honest - I have too much to lose! thanks for the kind words and encouragement

aspyxiac: arg! thanks sooo much for the info - glad to know i'm not the only one who's experienced this!

I think for now, I'm going to get my weight restored and see if that helps.  If I'm still getting 2 periods a month at a healthy weight - so long tri cyclen lo and hello yasmin.  I can't afford to spend so much on tampons Tongue out

wow...i didn't think it would be that big of a discrepancy! I'm not quite sure where my weight will eventually settle, my entire family is very petite so probably around 105-110. Guess I'll wait and see.

Thanks for the advice - muchly appreciatedSmile

Foods Tofu sandwich filling? Mar 16 2009

maybe...

slice it thin-ish and marinate it in teriyake or bbq sauce? you could then grill it on a george foreman or something and it would be a bit like a grilled chicken sandwich.

No idea if this would work - i never even THOUGHT about using extra firm tofu as a sandwich filling! I am definitely going to have to experiment with that...

new to this thread but not to recovery (it's been an ongoing, 2 year project)

today, for the first time EVER i bought one of those starbucks-like loaves from my uni's coffee shop.  Every time i bought a coffee i'd gaze wistfully at their squishy, calorific goodness. Well, i figured i'm in the midst of exams, if not now, when? So i bought a carrot cake one, with icing, and ate it.  Amazingly, the world didn't implode!

Weight Loss Please shed some light, I've tried everything I know. Prune juice? Dec 03 2008

lol if it's any consolation maiden,

i've been having this exact problem too! (probably related to stress...stupid exams!). I've been going once every 4 days, if i can stand it. I havent had time to run out to the grocery store to pick up prune juice or anything so i've been taking 2 laxatives once a week, when things get too, ahem, uncomfortable.

I'm confused though... laura42 recommended senna tea

but senna is the active ingredient in exlax etc. and you're not supposed to take those everyday.  Wouldn't drinking senna tea have the same negative effects on your bowel movements?

Weight Gain waitt...so am i done? Nov 29 2008

you are still very underweight and should not be exercising yet - not even weights.  You should still keep gaining back up to a healthy weight and probably (this is what my doctor told me) not start to do exercise until you are around 95% of your ideal weight. Good luck :)

Health & Support is anyone taking cipramil/celexa? Oct 28 2008

yes - i am on it right now, the third anti-depressant i've tried and so far the most effective.  Personally, I haven't had any side effects from it and it seems to be managing my mood well.  It's from a newer class of SSRI's and I think has less side effects than other, older drugs.  I'd definitely give it a shot!
