I don't know about moose stew but lots of men here are leaving for deer hunting trips. My GF cooked huge pot of chili (and she put mushrooms in hers which I might try), meatballs and cho chip cookies for her hubby & son to take. I'm cooking chicken fillets from BJ's club. Also bought a jar of marsala sauce to put on them. |

sun: I hope R stays firm with the ex he is NOT discussing you and it's none of her business. IMO she wants to know if "he at least asked you", so she can decipher (1) you are the one who refused the hotel or (2) If he didn't ask you that tells her that HE doesn't want you at a hotel. Her insisting to know is to gauge you and R's. relationship. I don't think I'm weighing for awhile cause the holidays are heavy on my mind and my fridge is stuffs with extra foods. And while buying Thanksgiving foods I pick up other things I really don't need, so I'm overeating. And I refused to give up my Thanksgving eggnog. But 2 ppl this week asked if I've lost weight. For me I think they notice only every 5 lb loss. nanny: congrats on your loss. You are doing so great. I'm proud of you!

bonnie, interesting about cucumbers and the old saying. I love bananas but limit them. My dau doesn't like them for some weird reason so I never get to make bananna pudding. |

chris, you spend 15 every morning on your hair? wow. I run a brush thru mine and that's it. In fact I shower, dress and leave the house in 15 min. ok, so I'm a little late some morning. hump day, thank goodness. Only brought a sandwich today, so headed to my fav groc store for something else. Trying not to overeat because of the dinner tonight. |

chris: that's among the funniest things I've ever heard. Blame it on dieting. You'd probably already logged that food, so you just wanted every single bit of it. I'm going back to BJ's today. Decided my dau could use one of the $20 twin inflatable beds like my friend bought. Too bad it didn't occur to me when I was there the first time. Now hoping they aren't sold out. The night before sauteed lg container of mushrooms, then last night had egg white omelet and tossed in the mushrooms to reheat and it worked out fine. oh yay, time for work again.

oh, I love 'Pearl Izuma'. (maybe I spelled the Izumi part wrong) Try googling their site. They have stores in major cities and in Orlando where I'm headed next month, they have a store at the big outlet center. I want one of those outfits that look like an Olympic cyclist, but can't afford it. You know what I mean, with the wild prints. I love them. also try Nike or Adidas stores. Probably more of my exercise clothes are Nike. good luck. |

beb: sneezing all over is the best way to guarantee you won't have uninvited visitors. You're right, washing hands is the best defense. FTF: there was a young girl, maybe 13, on TV, who had a disorder and sneezed all day long. Only time she didn't was when she slept. But they were tiny little achoos.

beb: if you read my post you'll see that I wrote I log 'extra' activities like long walks or biking. alice; glad your knee was good enough you could go out yesterday. It's frustrating not to be able to do what you want. When I used to run, the advice was to take it easy a couple of days before the race. So, on that theory I can see why you were faster than the other two ppl. I don't know the miles I went a yr ago, level ground, but was out for almost 4 hrs, which was my longest hike. Hoping when I'm in Fla this Christmas and my dau is at work, that I can get out like that again. ftf: are you sneezing into your elbow :) Since I live alone I just let loose and let germs fly. happy Monday everyone.

nanny thanks for the recipe, looks good especially this am when I'm starving. any kind of chips are bad. Always have been, always will be. If you can limit to a handful I would say don't deprive yourself. My problem is I can't limit. I have no "portion control". What I use for dip is to run a tortilla (low carb) under water, then pop it into a 350 oven till crisp, 5 min maybe, then use that to dip. Occasionally I buy a .25 bag of chips to calm a craving. ususally that does it for me. |

alice, I was going by the CC activity log. Will check it again, but I look at it each time I go to Fla, 14 hrs minimum driving time. I burn more than FTF I think cause I'm bigger. Went to library for first time in over a year. Now, have something to occupy me besides thinking of food. yikes. ok, I'm a lot bigger than FTF. I burn 84 watching TV and 167 driving, per hr. But sometimes I haven't lost just going by CC and possibly their numbers are off a little. Today I definately had a deficit but am up a few oz at end of day.

hi bluerabbit :) You sound just like the rest of us. I was downright skinny till upper middleage. Yes, smaller portions is the key. Part of mine is bordeom. There's all kinds of threads if you search. Also check out the tools here and I like the activity log. I set my level at sedentary cause of my office job, but I add special activities, when I'm in the mood to track, like long walks or bike riding, and sometimes driving when I go on long trips. yeah, driving burns calories, who'd have thought?

bex: the 80 yr olds I know don't cook much anymore. They do like to go out to eat. What about gift cert. for restaurants? And, they still like to look nice but don't like to shop, so wash and wear clothes are nice. If her eyesight is failing does she need a bigger TV ? What about paying someone to go in weekly and do floors for her? One thing I felt very badly about was after my dad died I sat in 'his' chair and I learned it was awful. But I grew up with terror in the house if anyone sat in 'his chair'. So, I sure never sat in it as an adult and it never occured to me that it was worn out. Wish I knew it and had bought him a nice recliner. Does she like to travel? Does she have anyone to go with (beisdes you). What about a cruise. ok, out of ideas but its fun to help others spend their money! |

sun, no reason you have to pretend by staying at a hotel. This sounds like a showdown when spunk will have to be shown or she will mow you both down. She has no right to dictate who stays in HIS house, or what he does. She may not want him but she doesn't want anyone else to have him either. Stay strong. Weight is stalled. No ones fault but mine............and the elderly lady who throws chocolates on my desk. 4 pc this week. of course I gobbled them up. Didn't feel like weighing in........but promise to do so next Thurs. As long as I think protein, protein protein, I do ok. Just had a weak week. nanny, congratulations. You did GREAT. amanda, I should do like you did and enter weight, instead of pretending, but I just hate when it's up, even a little which is normal now and then. proudmom where are you? |

oh, I love margaritas too. But, seldom have opportunity to have one. Either I'm driving, or I'm with some fuddy duddy who would keel over in shock if I had one with lunch. I need more fun friends. I always skip the salt on the glass. bad salt. nanny: GREAT. Down is down and yes it always goes up a little BUT once you touch down its easy to get down to that number again. (and stay there). Congratulations on the drop. Sometimes the drops come easy, sometimes its a real battle to get one. I try to remember the agony when I'm faced with a forbidden temptation. I think of all the work I've done and usually the temptation is a mediocre dessert that just isn't worth the trouble. |

amandief: do you freeze the stuff after you sautee it and put in bags? I'm buying lots of eggs too. I love them and fix a lot of deviled eggs and egg salad and if I'm being strict, I will eat one plain when hunger strikes. weight this am is 183.8. I had more carbs last night, but oh well. I need to stock up on broth also. Theres one instant kind I like thats not as bad on sodium. I was 181 Monday on another weighin, but I do better on weekends. During the week I get stressed and tired at work and will lose my mind if I don't eat, or I wouldn't get my work done when I'm dragging from being tired. I'm still anxious to get down to the 170's............Also will make more cabbage soup this weekend. That fills me up and is low cal. I am putting ground beef in it this time and sort of following a stuffed cabbage soup recipe, but no rice for me. |

chelsy: seems I don't know anyone who hasn't had a problem with regaining weight. It's the downfall of us all. I lost, gained and lost. Working on the last 10 at the moment. I just follow this loosely and try to stick to a high protein, less processed foods, etc. The thing that happens to some (and me) is that we try too hard. Harder than what can be maintained as a permanent life style. Life has so many temptations. Birthday celebrations, weekends, holidays, vacations, etc. So its not just losing, its learning how to deal with life. Also our goals have to be realistic. I don't know what the healthy range is for 5'7", but I would be happy with 145. I've done well all week, but felt on the edge of a binge, so overate yesterday, hoping if I did it in a controlled way it would help. Also couldnt find the eggs or shrimp I was looking for. Small town shopping. is everyone ready to weigh in tomorrow?

Didn't know so many of us had ancestors in Wales. Same here. A great- g'mother. I did better than expected with eating this weekend. What bad habits I have gotten. FTF says 40 days to break a habit (or learn a new one), but I've heard 19 days. Whatever, will try to keep it up. |
