| take out your stress on something else. for instance you can exercise vigorously so that you won't think of anything else or you can concentrate on something that you absolutely love.. like shopping, talking on the phone etc |

| Weight Loss | I'm really full but I'm craving an apple. should I eat one? | Apr 16 2007 06:26 (UTC) |

| Okay I understand what everyone is saying, and I'm sorry but as the writer of this post who apparently initiated all this I must say something about this. "I'm sorry pandajenn if I said anything wrong, but I don't think it's right that someone like gen who's made a million posts like this should just be tolerated." OK I don't even want to know what you said that apparently has been erased, but excuse me? a million posts? I haven't been on this site for like 6 months until today and what? what do you mean this shouldn't be tolerated, like this is not a free country?... Something needs to happen, because these posts are not constructive and it's obvious from them that she has a problem that she's not willing to face. Generalizing everything based on 2 posts above huh? I feel like if we're not at least a little harsh then she won't learn anything, because so far she hasn't! All I want to do is help her, and she won't listen to the voices of reason. How do you know that? you wanna help me? If you wanted to help me you shouldnt have stated, "I know you wouldnt listen blah blah I should shut up" in your first post, which indicates that you already "assumed" that I wouldn't listen to anything (which is of course not true) and that you already gave up on helping me. I honestly don't even understand why she is allowed to post at all anymore because she doesn't listen to the people who answer her! generalizing everything again. How exactly do you know if I'm listening or not? In fact I have, and yes I am very well aware of the fact that my weight is unhealthy and I have a doctor whom I discuss this problem with and I'm making progress, thank you. I posted this b/c I was worried if eating too many apples would harm me in any way, but now I read my post again, I admit it was my fault to list my food intake, height and weight. I didn't know that would lead to such harsh unexpected generalization from some stranger saying that I shouldn't be allowed to post anymore. |

| Foods | Raw egg whites... safe? | Apr 16 2007 02:44 (UTC) |

| I wouldnt do it unless the eggs are pasterized from what I hear, salmonella bacteria only resides within egg whites not yolks -- this is why its safe to eat sunny-side up fried eggs but notice the whites are always cooked egg whites are however high in protein and I heard that nowadays it is very rare to get sick from salmonella -- chance is 1 in 50000 or so I'm not exactly sure so I guess if you wanna take the risk go ahead or you can add egg substitute.. |

| Foods | Calories in Chinese Food - help! | Apr 16 2007 02:39 (UTC) |

| rice is high in cal/carb treat it like you would do bland pasta stir fried vegetables are very healthy compared to other items at a chinese restaurant so don't worry but yes you have to be aware of the sauce (I think they mix soy sauce, a little bit of oyster sauce, sugar etc) and the oil to cook the vegetables if its only a cup then I would guess 100 for veggies at maximum |

| Weight Loss | I gained 6 pounds in one week! i really really don't know what is wrong with me :( | Apr 16 2007 02:36 (UTC) |

| you may be eating less but were you able to actually track down what you were eating and calculate the calories? you may have been eating hidden stuff that are high in calories for example dressing and creamy soup. and since you were inactive the calories might have just been packing up. Or it can be due to water retention maybe you were having too much sodium Or it can be the timing of your weighing... you normally tend to weigh 2-3lbs less if you weigh yourself after going to the bathroom |

| Weight Loss | Is it possible to only eat fruit? | Dec 08 2006 23:22 (UTC) |
6 |
| First of all you are missing out protein and fat. And if you are eating a generous amount of fruits within your calorie limit, you won't gain weight. However calories DO add up and they can make you fat b/c fruits do have sugar and calories. By cutting out protein you will also lose muscles and when you start eating lots of other stuff besides fruits you will gain quickly. | |||
| Weight Loss | how to integrate the foods you hate | Dec 08 2006 23:18 (UTC) |

| For me, it was grapefruit. I hated the sour and bitter taste of it and did NOT dare to even take a bite before I started dieting. However, when I realized that grapefruits are perfect diet food due to its huge size, low calories, low carb, low G.I level, antioxidant etc etc I decided to include them into my diet. What I did was that I didn't go grocery shopping until I was completely out of food except grapefruits and for one whole day I couldn't eat anything cuz there was nothing in my house to eat except grapefruits so the next day I eventually ate them and found joy in eating them. | |||

| All you need to do is to do cardio to burn off fat,
Increase protein intake to fuel the muscles start doing 150 crunches everyday (25 reps of diff. positions) Then do it with some weights (5,10,15...so on) |

| Weight Loss | What to do about school lunch? | Dec 04 2006 22:35 (UTC) |
9 |
| Well do you go out for lunch? I always get salads with italian from various places and skip croutons but then if ur friends become suspicious that you are on a diet and start calling u anorexic then start researching for calories prior to your next lunch and get lower calorie items. if you pack lunch like bars or fruits or don't eat lunch at school people are gona think ur weird (assuming ur in h.s) if you can't go out, you shold see if your school has sandwiches take out all the unhealthy stuff out and be like you don't like them. when you get salad dont get dressing over it or if it's prepacked, don't get the salad cuz it'll have the same amount of calories. If you must, just get a bagel and eat only half of it it will be under 200 calories. lunchable is so bad for you lol its all processed meat and all sugar it WILL make you hungry again and it has a lot of calories. Yeah nature valley granola bars are good too. |

| Weight Loss | 7 lbs by Christmas? | Dec 04 2006 22:28 (UTC) |
1 |
| If you are not fat but wanna lose weight on scale, simply eat like 600 calories for a week and you will drop 7 lbs of water weight but gain it all back later so you should do it a week before christmas. If you want to lose 7 lbs of fat it becomes more complicated you should eat less than daily expenditure AND exercise especially weights - it'll be hard cuz at the same time as losing fat u will also be gaining muscle mass so your weight wont go down as fast - and make it a lifestyle. | |||
| Weight Loss | Couple quick questions | Dec 01 2006 04:09 (UTC) |

| 30 30 40 is better.. I think but no you won't be losing all your muscles in fact 600 deficit is very healthy. you might even gain muscles if you lift a lot. | |||
| Foods | Impressive dinner suggestions? | Dec 01 2006 03:50 (UTC) |

| If I were you I'd definitely bake something up for a dessert (first thing that came to my mind.. haha) like a cheesecake or a pie (it's really easy there are some recipes that don't even need baking)
For the main course, i think it'd be better for you to stick with what you do the best rather than risking it unless you are gonna practice it before. You can add shrimps, scallops and other stuff to pasta and make it a seafood pasta (it's really good). Also you can look up recipes for a special, distinctive sauce that would spice up your pasta. Sometimes it's better to add small side dishes rather than focus on the main dish. Make something pretty for the appetizer, add some sauteed vegetables on the side, be creative! |

| Fitness | Ideal body fat percentage? | Dec 01 2006 03:38 (UTC) |
4 |
| It depends on what "range" you think is the most idealistic.
you said it yourself that you are not particularly atheletic - and yeah I'll have to agree with ur trainer that 21% IS about the borderline between lean and fit. you might have been going to the gym everyday, but it really depends on what kind of workout you do. And.......yes technically you can be overfat or even "obese" in terms of body fat % at any weight. but calipers are usually not accurate you might want to try bioelectrical or some other type of fat measuring equipment |

| Weight Loss | Protein....Up for discussion | Dec 01 2006 03:17 (UTC) |
9 |
| Well.. I'm sure those athletes probably limit their carbohydrate intake at the same time as eating comparably more protein. I actually lost more weight by eating more animal protein last month, but I severaly restricted my carb intake. Just as there are fattening carbohydrates(like muffins) and healthy carb (fruits), lean protein such as fish is better for people who opt for weight loss b/c of its caloric content. I used to eat 80g or more protein and 40g or less carb a day, stuck with that diet for 2 months and lost a lot. First yes it was hard for me to eat so much protein and not enough carb.. but I realized that our body takes more time and energy digesting protein than carbohydrate, plus it fuels the muscles and helps you maintain it (if you are working out) despite your reduced daily calorie intake. So even if you lose all the body fat from eating less, you will still have base muscles which will gradually become more defined. If you have meat sensitivity (it's not uncommon) try eggs, tofu, nuts, cheese... | |||
