Original Post by alle0299: If we are getting technical, we have to replace the blood lost. Our body has to undergo hematopoeisis just like when we donate blood.. I don't think it's too inconceivable to believe that we burn an extra 100-200. However I'm not going to rely on it |

No, I don't, but I do suffer from pear shape.. :) I'll never have nice legs. Jean shopping can be tough. Most guys have it easy- no butt. Anyhow, I wish I could give you some advice but alas. There was this one store I went to where the legs were too skinny but the waist was bigger- probably better for an apple body. I can't recall the name but it's the store where Sarah Jessica Parker sells her stuff, and it sounds like a guy's name. |

About.com should at least pick a better sort of ad. All of them have to do with health or food or other nonsense things. The pancake one isn't even for food! It's for frying pans! I don't need any frying pans, so really all the have done is show me bad food temptations. grrrrr |

| Foods | Food Myths.. | Nov 12 2008 06:04 (UTC) |

My roommate's friend believed that the egg white cancelled out the egg yolk. My dad thinks you can exercise your cholesterol away completely (perhaps it helps, but he doesn't exercise) My mom thinks a thirty minute walk will cancel out a candy bar and a bag of cookies. BTW...I hate the negative calorie food myth. If all you eat is lettuce, celery, and tomatoes, then OF COURSE YOU'RE GOING TO LOSE WEIGHT. Unless you are constantly stuffing your face...all day long. I love eating but I would have to draw the line somewhere. |

Okay. I feel a little better. One of my main worries is whether or not I keep accurate count of everything throughout the day. I only THINK I went over 200, but how do I know it's not actually 500 or 600 or 700. And what if I have a slow metabolism? Some girls can eat 2000 a day to maintain (they must be very active) and it seems like if I eat that much I just blow up. But I do feel a little better. When I wake up tomorrow I'll start fresh again. I do so love tomorrow. |

I totally agree. I think our bodies just want the sugars and fats from it. I gave up chocolate for lent once, and on Easter I was so excited because I got so much from my parents, but after I had some it just wasn't the same. I think we also learn to really apreciate the flavor of wholesome food, and we realize how bland some junk foods can be. |

Are you using the CC calculator? Because it may not match what you are actually eating. For instance, maybe CC thinks yogurt has 27 g of sugar when in reality yours only has 14 g but the same amount of calories. |

| Health & Support | is it ok to chew and spit? | Nov 10 2008 05:18 (UTC) |

I'm a little ashamed to say I've done it before. I think it's probably technically a disorder but we aren't hurting ourselves...just wasting food really. I had a mouthful of peanut butter once and I realized "Omigod this is like 200 calories in my mouth", so I spit it out. My opinion is that it's mostly harmless as long as you don't plan on it and it doesn't happen too often. |

Lol. My mom is the kind of mom who makes 60 dozen cookies in 15 diff varieties as well, except she doesn't give them away. They stay in our house until they are gone, which is rediculous because she complains about how fat she and dad are. That's one thing that bugs me about my mom sometimes. She wants to lose weight and she thinks that if she says she's on a diet, she'll start to lose weight. She doesn't realize how crucial it is to cut out all these sweet things she eats. Seems like a no brainer, but alas. |

| The Lounge | Romeo & Juliet; What is Love? | Nov 09 2008 07:06 (UTC) |

In the original plays, Romeo is around 20-30 and Paris is 30-40. "What is love" is a perfect question for this play because (although I'm a hopeless romantic) it does beg the question if you can fall in love at first sight. However we may never know if it prevails which is probably the point. Shakespeare had to end it that way in order to be vague. |
