Though i personally do like the sugar free yoplaits, if you want to stay away from artificial sweetners, try Oikos plain greek yogurt. It actually has more protein and less calories than non fat or artifical sweetened yogurts. |

I like to mix it into my oatmeal in the morning. Then after its been microwaved for a min. I'll top it with soy protein powder and some granola and a couple tbsps of soy milk. SOO delicious and filling. |

I dont think that formula would work very well for people who aren't at higher numbers. For example, I'm at 123 so I would only be able to each 870 calories....which is WAY too low. |

Oh those are great ideas! We haven't picked anything yet. My sister believes that we dont really have a choice with what people call it - that instead it will kinda just come about as the year goes along. BUT....i'm determined to get people to call it something cute. I liked "the garden" because we have such a nice backyard...but now I may have to attempt La Lilla Casa. One of my friends live on Lily Street so they call it the Lily Pad. Maybe ours will develop into something like that!! Hopefully |

One of my favorites is a strawberry dressing from the Sonoma Diet. If you can find it, its really low calorie and delicious. Its basically strawberries, peppercorn, and I think vinegar and oil. Maybe google it?

This summer I am working for Fish and Game so hopefull (fingers crossed) I ll be out in the outdoors without full access to my parents fridge all the time. Most of my friends are staying at school this summer instead of coming home so I will be utterly alone while my parents are at work until my job starts up in June. :( However! I set goals for myself this summer to keep me busy instead of watching tv and snacking while I'm bored. After watching the biggest loser last night I have come up with a goal to run a 5k this summer. OR if I feel very ambitious attempt a half a marathon. I found a couple that are in July so I will start training now!! Woo! I think I'm also going to refurnish a rocking chair. I know that sounds weird but its the only thing we're allowed to have on our porch on the house I'm leasing next fall. Do you have any summer goals? |

| Fitness | How many times a day and a week should i be working out?? | May 07 2009 03:23 (UTC) |

Are saying you have a deficit of 800 or are you saying that you are only consuming 800? If you are only consuming 800 you need to up that level SIGNIFICANTLY. Seriously. The amount of workout you're doing is A LOT and your body is going to suffer immensly. You will not lose weight if your body does not have the proper nutrition. Rather your body will conserve as much fat store as possible. If you are working out 2 hours a day plus eating only 800 calories you are putting yourself in serious danger. Use the tools on this site to find the amount of calories you should be consuming. On average a normal woman should be eating 1500 calories and with your amount of activity it will be higher.

Hey Riley! Well I am in a similar situation...well at least about to take the leap into one. I am 19 and about to head home from the summer from college. I've lost about 20 pounds so far and am hoping to stay at this weight. At school I didn't have an issue with snacking because usually there wasn't anything in my fridge to snack on!! haha. But now I'll be going home where there are tons of things to nibble and "try". I am a grazer. Off the charts I just stand in front of the pantry and like to try a little here and there...and well basically everywhere. I would love to keep in touch with you over this summer. I won't have as much access to a gym at home and I really could use some motivation not to raid the fridge at 12 pm. I think I'm going to try to journal everyday. Maybe if we stay busy doing stuff we wont get bored and start snacking. :) |

You seriously need to consider the stress you may be putting on your body espeically with a heart condition AND working out twice a day AND not eating enough. Your body will begin shutting down to protect it from losing any weight if you eat too few calories. Think about it..when you eat like 1000 calories you probably aren't as hungry when you do up your calorie intake..this is because when your body does have sufficient food it starts up its metabolism at a higher rate. However, when you aren't eating enough it will shut down the burning of ANY food or fat to protect itself i.e. not feeling hungry if you go a really long time without food. Thats why its reccommended to eat 5-6 small meals versus 3 large ones. It keeps your metabolism running.

I've lost about 30 pounds in the past year going from a size 10 to a size 4/6. But I've kept somewhat of a slight belly pudge. Honestly I would rather have a flat stomach and no spare tire than be the small size I am now with no butt or boobs. Oh well, I should just love the body I have now though. |

You are not eating enough. If you are consuming only 1200-1500 calories a day your body is not going to burn fat. 1500 calories is generally the base amount of a young female trying to lose weight. I plugged your stats in and at the very LEAST you should be eating 1800. I classified you as light activity but I'm guessing its more around very active. which would up your needed calories a lot Because you do so much exercise you need to increase your caloric intake or your body is going to start suffering severely.

Oh thanks so much. Sometimes I just need to hear someone else say those things. Like I know in the back of my head that a high calorie intake day is not going to make me instantly gain weight but sometimes I just cant seem to break that anxiety. and its not like I'm trying to really lose weight I just don't want to gain any back. Its good just to be like "slap out of it"! (in the most Cher from Moonstruck accent possible). I guess its just something I'm still working about getting over as this anxiety is what drove my bulimia in the first place. But I am getting there.
thanks for your support |

You can do soooooooo much with canned pumpkin. take a look at hungrygirl's website - I'm pretty sure she uses it in at least half of her receipes.

Usually if i get a microwavable dinner like a lean cuisine, I always try to boost it up by adding a ton more cooked veggies with it. I use a lot of frozen brocolli or sometimes I get a entree and then pour it over the top of some cooked spinanch or green beans |

How about mini - individual cheesecakes? You can easily find alternative cheesecake receipes that are much healthier than normal and by putting them in muffin tins or foils you can have instant portion control. For a fun thing you can make a whole bunch of different toppings - I love homemade strawberry sauces - just boil down different fruits..or make a nice dark chocolate sauce to drizzle on the top. You can put as much or as little as you want on yours and your friends can put as much as they want on theirs. |

Stay away from the things that are fried. So if the calamari is fried I would suggest the steak. Depending of course on how big it is and what type of cut. Sirlion can actually be lean and good for you! Or go for the burger just consider how large it is...maybe skip the bun and cheese and bacon and wrap it in lettuce? I think we all agree that the chips will be your downfall but then again..a few will never kill you. Its all about portion control. Maybe ask your waiter to package up half of your meal before it arrives at your table. If you do it that way then there will be no reason to overeat or worry about what you choose ! you could probably have anything you wanted that way. Or maybe just subsitute a side salad for chips and then have a couple of your friends. |

I would suggest seeing a foot specialist. If you have flat feet like me and do not wear the correct shoes or orthopedics for support you can attempt to do squats and other excercises but still but strain and pressure on your knees. It may also be something in which your joints aren't alinging correctly, like my sister who has patella fascilities (sp?). At least think about it. So then you can know if you need better form or maybe just better support. |

When i'm making single serve pizzas I use a whole wheat pita and then pile on the toppings and bake it. I'm a big fan of sliced tomatoes, spinanch, feta cheese and mushrooms on my pizza, usually with a red sauce as well. I've also tried a white pizza with artichoke hearts, mozzarella, and chicken and then a caesear dressing (or ranch) as the sauce. You could use light ingredients for all of these and keep it pretty healthy. |

When I'm sick I see to lose all delicate taste so I love spicy things...plus they clean out my sinuses. If I feel really crappy and dont want to cook I will take a mixed frozen vegetable blend microwave it, add in a chicken broth, add some red curry paste and grated ginger.

(my guilty pleasure is soup thick and hearty new england clam chowder though) But i have to say I am not a big fan of lentil soups...I like lentils but just not in my soup. |

Great ideas for soup! I also cooked garlic and green onions in the pot first then the cabbage and other veggies. To give it a little something extra I added a red curry paste to the soup. IT was AMAZING. try it out! |

Yeah, whenever I do return home I struggle with my eating disorder. Because I dont plan the meals and have to eat what my mom cooks combined with access to a whole pantry of delicious sweet treats I lose all control. Up at school what I buy and have in my frig is all healthy and I have been very successful with not bingeing but when at home...I binge like there is no tomorrow. I'm hoping that in time I will develop better self control when in this situation. Its the big hurdle in my road of overcoming this eating disorder. |

Oh thank you so much for all of your replies. I really appreciate all you have said. Today went really well and I didn't worry or stress about old choices and I didn't severely restrict myself today. I allowed myself fun treats sicne i'm on vacation but I ate healthy and excercised in fun different ways. Tomorrow I return back to school so i will be able to get back into my normal routine and eat according to my plans. So I feel like I've made it through! Thanks everyone for your kind words of advice. |
