Yes, and it drives me batty, too.  I've been here since October of this year and have had to manually input a good 70% of the foods I eat, which just like you mention, are in the databases of almost every other health/weight related site.

I use a Canadian product called Cold-fX.  If you are in the U.S. you can find it at some Rite Aid's, Wal-Mart's, or Walgreen's or it may be purchased online.  I swear by it.  http://www.cold-fxusa.com/ ; <---you can find more info here.

Weight Loss "curvy" fit jeans - a form of vanity sizing? Dec 19 2008

at lane bryant i am like a size 5.   in regular non-lane bryant jeans i am a size 20.  the first time i went into lane bryant i literally had no idea what to do.  there sizes are so weird and stupid.

edit:  i think they need to make apple shaped jeans (not apple bottom).  all my pants fit in the legs but are too small in the belly area.  i wear a size 20, but my legs need a size 16.

I totally agree!  Who are they trying to kid with their new sizing?  Pffft.  I hate their jeans...they don't fit no matter what the label says.  I'm 5'2" formerly 236 pounds, (now 216 and dropping) and still can't find a freaking pair of jeans that fits my stick legs and my flabby belly. =(

hahaha, I've heard vitamuffins mentioned a lot on these forums and I read hungrygirl so I saw it there but my mom won't order things online. She's very supportive of my healthy ingredients and buys me whatever ingredients I need as long as they're available at the supermarket or farmers market, which is generally pretty generous. Plus I think it's more sustainable, like am I really going to be ordering PB2 the rest of my life? I don't know, I just always feel like I should learn to use regular food first. Plus I like to bake, it's fun :)

You can buy Vitamuffins in some stores but I thought they were a total waste of money. They tasted good but they cost like $6 for 4! You could definitely save a lot of cash by baking your own.

I bought VitaMuffins in the store and they were horrible.  Not only were they expensive, but they tasted awful and I end up throwing them out.  I also wasn't fond of the PB2 (chocolate version) and have 4 freaking jars of it taking up space here.  I totally agree with you about learning to use regular food because afterall, who knows if these other products will even be around years down the road.

As for a muffin recipe, I made some corn muffins this morning using a Marie Callender's mix and added 90 grams of fresh chopped cranberries to it.  They came to 154 cals each (it made 12 med/large), but I am guessing you could add some nuts to up the protein and some bran to up the fiber and it would come out to around 200 cals.  Good luck!

You could make stuffed onions, sort of like stuffed bell peppers or take it in a different direction and stuff it with taco meat and low fat cheese, or some sort of pilaf/grain.

Recipes What do you do with Kale? Dec 04 2008

I found this on a blog a long time ago and thought of it when I read your post.

"Because it's a bit too fibrous, even when it's young and tender, massaged kale salad makes the kale so tender.

You take some sliced or torn pieces of kale, lightly drizzle them in olive oil then massage the oil by hand into the kale for a few minutes, until the oil is evenly distributed and the kale is a bit more tender and darker green in color. Add a splash or two of balsamic vinegar and some good quality salt or gomasio, maybe some fresh black pepper or nutritional yeast, and voila!"

I ordered the chocolate PB2 after reading this thread and received my order last night.  I have to say, it is the nastiest tasting stuff I've tried in a long time.  Nobody in my family likes it.  Tried it mixed into yogurt today and gagged. Frown  Maybe it tastes better after you haven't had real peanut butter in a very long time?  Or maybe the regular PB2 tastes better?

Anyway, darn.  I was really hoping it was as good to me as it is to all of you.

Carnation breakfast bars - the chocolate chip flavor...it was a dense bar, not these chewy bars that are everywhere.

YESSSS!  I used to eat these every morning before school. (way back a thousand years ago, LOL)  They had this weird aftertaste, but I really loved those bars.

slice up an apple, spray with pam and sprinkle with cinamon.....yum

a sweet potato usually does it for me (yeah, i know, who craves a sweet potato)

how about....100 calorie kettle corn!

Heheh...I actually crave sweet potatoes, too!  I like making them into "fries" and baking them in the oven with a spritz of Pam & sprinkle of cinnamon.

Diced apple, splash of lemon juice, sprinkle of cinnamon, 1 tsp brown sugar microwaved for 2 minutes is great, too.

Air popped or 100 cal pack popcorn spritzed with buttery flavored cooking spray and sprinkled with spices (savory or sweet), Molly McButter cheese sprinkles, etc.

All Bran cereal with unsweetened vanilla almond milk.  I swear those little "twigs" grow and you end up chewing for awhile.  Keeps me full for a long time.

Lower sodium brothy/vegetable soups are good as are hot teas.

I totally agree.  I bought Fiber One last night without reading the ingredients because I've heard so many great things about it here and elsewhere, I just figured it was fine.  Then I got it home, opened it and tried a bite and thought, wtf?  I taste aspartame.  A quick look at the ingredients and sure enough, there it was.  Ticks me off, really.  I don't care how much fiber is in it...if it's got aspartame, I'm not eating it.  I did make some candies with it just to experiment, though.  The other 3/4 of the box is going in the trash.

Weight Loss All you women who are 235+lbs.......... Oct 16 2008

I don't think that 1350 (and ESPECIALLY 1100) is the ideal number for a woman weighing 235. I started at 150 and went down to 124 eating 1600 a day (and exercising four-five times a week).

I'd maybe cut back to 1800 and see if that helps, but I don't think you need to cut as low as 1350.

My endocrinologist would prefer I stick to a 1200 cal plan, however I find somewhere between that and 1350 works better for me.  As I said in my previous post, I am not exercising much (read 12 minutes of stretching a day) and everyone's mileage will vary.

My target for calories per day is 1350, but I average 1100-1350 typically.  I don't exercise much, yet though, so ymmv.  I started at 236 pounds and have lost 4 so far (water weight, I'm sure), but it seems to be enough for for me and I feel good.  I'm trying to eat more vegetables that I like that are bulky and that seems to help me feel full on 1350.

I love Richard Simmons.  He's got a huge heart and he's a great motivator.  In fact, I just ordered another copy of his Stretchin' To The Classics because I lost mine when I moved.  I used his Food  Mover program several years ago and had really good success with that and I liked the cookbook that came with it.
