Weight Loss PCOS Buddies? Oct 15 2008

Hi! I was diagnosed with PCOS 3 years ago. Since than I have been gaining even more weight. I consider myself lucky because I dont have a high blood sugar level so im not on glucophace or metformin. I am just using a birth contol pill. I also dont have facial hair. Just no periods when I stop the bc.

In the last 4 months I have been on a doctor controlled weight loss program.. cutting down calories and exercising.. I have lost 16lbs which according to my doctor is a really good result for a PCOS patient. But for the last few weeks I havent lost anything. I looks like it has stopped but i have experienced that before I might not lose anything for about 2-3 weeks but then lose more than 2lbs in 1 week.. Strange because I have dieted before I got diagnosed with PCOS and I could lose weight 2 times faster and periodically. I'm thinking it might have something to do with PCOS.

I sometimes feel bad that I have PCOS but I guess we'll have to learn to live with it. And maybe it has a good side we live healthier lives :)

Mushrooms have lots of sodium... so if you eat mushrooms restrict your salt intake that day.

I think exercise is the key to your problem. Exercise means more muscle and more muscle means faster metabolism.

Doing very restrictive diets slows down your metabolism so maintaining your weight when you lose it is the best thing to do . However if you did gain some weight back do some exercise, eat regularly ( 2-3 hours between each meal including snacks) and drink about 2 litres of water everyday.
