| Weight Loss | Do you limit carbs at dinner? | Oct 23 2008 22:37 (UTC) |

Thanks everyone, I really appreciate the information and ideas! I have always been a carb lover, potatoes are my favorite (I'm swedish, so they are like air/water...I need them LOL) But while trying to get back to my former weight, I think I will try eating them for lunch instead of dinner. Just wanted to thank everyone for commenting, it reminded me of some things I had forgotten about! (especially the glycemic index!) ~Hillary |

Original Post by nezzy: Thanks! My personal trainer forbid carbs at dinner, with the exception of green vegetables. I'm in a situation where my body wants to hold on to these 10 pounds, so I have to make some drastic changes. I appreciate hearing other's experiences =) Thanks again. |

I do agree that it might not be the best thing for young girls to see. BUT I have to admit that in the eyes of "health" I don't need to lose weight and I will be "underweight" when I reach my goal and I'm back to 112 lbs. (I've gained over the last 2 years and don't like it.) AND I find that image motivating too. I guess its to each their own, everyone has their own personal goals and ideas of beauty. |

Original Post by umneydurak: Thanks, that was really helpful (sarcasm)...........when I am maintaining I love to eat mashed potatoes with my protein. But since I am trying to lose weight, this was a recommendation I got. Q) What is the point? A) Obviously, the point is I am trying to lose weight. |

| Weight Loss | Yep... I'm asking too... Am I eating enough/too much? | Oct 23 2008 03:57 (UTC) |

You really aren't eating very much, this might be putting you into "starvation mode" where your body holds onto all of your fat. Also, I know that some of my friends would try to lose weight without getting enough protein and they always had trouble. Eating low fat protein (chicken, turkey, fish, beans, nuts, etc.) can help aid in weight loss. I would also try lifting weights (I do this at home, not at the gym). It really helped me when I was trying to shape up quickly! Also, I agree with varying the speed of your walking. Good Luck!! I'm sure it will all turn around =) |

I'm STUCK at 124.1....for about 5 days I have been keeping my 500(+) calorie deficit, yesterday I even did 90 Minutes of cardio! It is so frustrating :( SW: 127 CW: 124.1 GW: 112 PS....I think I'm going to go back to NO/LOW Carbs for dinner, no bread or starches only green veggies with my protein. My old trainer had me do that and it seemed to work well. BUT I LOVE CARBS (so its torture). Do any of you do this??? |

Hi all! I'd love to join this group and do weigh ins. (I weigh myself every morning and enter it into CC to track it) I too have been bouncing around the 120's but want to get back to 112. I haven't been 112 pounds since I was 16! This is a hefty goal for me. I'm 22 now, I'm back to working out 6 days a week for 45-60 minutes. In the last 9 days I have lost 2.4lbs. In the past week and a half: Calorie consumption: 1,200 - 1,500/day Current weight: 124.1
NICE TO MEET EVERYONE!

My personal trainer explained that if I found a 200 calorie donut, theoretically I could eat 6 donuts a day and lose weight. Here's the catch (he explained)...since they are all sugar and carbs, I would be hungry all the time (and obviously malnourished). Also, eating the right combination of protein, carbs and fats helps in building muscle which helps with weight loss (1 pound of fat burns much less than 1 pound of muscle). So, from what I understand you can eat what you want and lose weight, but you may not be building muscle. AND it definitely will not help lower cholesterol/blood pressure/etc. and make you HEALTHIER. |

I know this is an old thread, but I HAD to add a reply. Above was completely wrong, though I'm sure good intentioned and trying to help! My implants weigh over 2.5 lbs!!! (Pretty large, 600cc's each, totally 1200ccs) There are multiple websites with formulas to calculate your implants weight.
Saline If you have two 300cc saline implants then: 300cc x 2 = 600cc total 600cc divide by 29.574 (to convert to ounces) = 20.2880 ounces 20.5338 divided by 16 (ounces) = 1.268 lbs. for both implants

I used to take Luna Bars to work with me. You can find them on sale at most large grocery store chains for like $1 each. They are a healthy alternative and compliment a 4-5 meal per day diet. |

First of all, make sure you are really allowing yourself an appropriate number of calories per day! My personal trainer had me on 1,000-1,200 calories a day and I had the same feelings! The most important thing is to learn from this! NOW you know how many calories are in tortillas and you can make a different choice next time. I think that is the most important part of eating healthy, it is a learning process. As far as the rest of today, you should eat something healthy for dinner, ie grilled chicken with a green salad with fat free/reduced fat dressing. I would eat more protein and watch the carbs with dinner, most tortillas are HIGH in carbs. If you go over your "goal" calories for one day it won't be the end of the world. The main point is don't let one day throw off a whole diet and good progress! GOOD LUCK! |
