Weight Loss Are green tea pills really effective? Jul 06 2009

I know green tea alone wouldn't make me lose weight, but I've been dieting for almost a year, and at most lost about 25 before gaining back 10 more.

I'm getting pretty desperate here and I want something to boost my weight loss.
I'd rather cut back on the chips AND add green tea. But I don't like the taste of the tea & I didn't want to add sugar or anything else to it.

I've always felt every little bit counts. If it were to take green tea a year for me to lose just 10 pounds, so be it. At least that's 10 less than the last year.

Well, I just calculated my BMR (1667) and with the boost of 4.4% I'd lose about an extra 7.5 pounds a year.

So, now my next question is: that 4.4%--how much green tea is that? In terms of pills or cups of tea. I guessed one pill....

Weight Loss Has anyone ever tried this? Jul 05 2009

It's just as luhluhlovesongs said. All she is doing is losing water weight (which will get her dehydrated. She may lose inches but as soon as she drinks something it will come right back.

This is the problem many people make. They think the more they sweat, the more calories or fat they burn & that's not true.

For example, there is a rare condition where some people do not have the ablility to sweat. Does that mean they can never lose weight? No! They simple don't sweat. What matter is your heartbeat rate.

All your friend is doing is wasting saran wrap & olive oil! lol
Instead of doing that, she should be checking her pulse.

My only true vice is pastries, especially cakes.
A couple of weeks ago I made a Pillsbury Cinnamon Swirl cake and I ended up eating about 75% of it in less than six hours--despite the box saying there should be 14 servings Embarassed

Weight Loss How Do Our Bodies Know When We Want To Lose??? May 30 2009

I've been wondering that too.

My plan was to slowly increase calories when I reached my goal. Each week, I'd add about 75-100 calories until I hit my "proper" calorie intake.

I'm not sure if this is "legitimate" though. Tongue out

I think you should be careful of stretch marks. If you weight gain too rapidly, that can cause stretch marks even if you aren't overweight.

Thanks for the welcome everyone!

I'm not sure if the gym is free at my school. I just tried to check & it has info about membership fees, but it says nothing about whether or not students can go for free.

But, I joined a gym two years ago, with a friend but I didn't go very often. I wasn't very comfortable there. Undecided

When I first started dieting, I kind of craved fruits, but after about 2 weeks, I'd want unhealthy food for a couple of days. It's a cycle for me.

I'm a bit apprehensive to see Twilight. I read the first 3 books, and I'm on the wait list at the library (I'm about number 250 Surprised)
From my experience, movies based off of books are changed way too much. I find it's better if I watch the movie before reading the book.

Hi there, I'm Amber & 18 years old (turning 19 at the end of Dec.)

5' 7"

SW: 200

CW: 185

GW: 145

I've been overweight all my life & I've finally decided to make a change.

In response to the previous discussion on dating, I have no experience there. I've never been kissed, had a boyfriend, or went on a date Embarassed
Sometimes I don't care about that, but most of the time, I feel discouraged and sad. I really hate admitting that to people (I don't like to lie) but I feel better knowing I'm not the only one.

Anyway, about the holidays, my family doesn't do anything too special. The college I attend doesn't have a dorm & it's kind of close so I still live at home. My father just cooks a turkey (one for Thanksgiving and one for Christmas) and my parents & my older sister eat dinner together.
I'm worried I'm going to gain weight after this. My sister and I tend to eat a lot of turkey throughout the day. I'd like to eat healthy, but I have very low will power.

Motivation the worst part of dieting... Oct 30 2008
12:11 (UTC)

Social situations can be really difficult because it's mostly unhealthy food that I haven't had in a long time and I just want to eat it all, and there's nothing healthy to eat.

Besides that, my family is also difficult to deal with.
Whenever my parents cook something I ask a bunch of questions such as "What kind of oil is that?" or "How much sugar/salt/flour is in it?" and sometimes they don't want to answer me.
I think they believe I'm not eating enough food but I know I am. Then they go out and by junk food that I love but they know I'm not supposed to eat it. I tell them not to buy it but they still do. *sigh*

Basically, for me, the worst part of dieting is telling other people you're on a diet and they don't support you & they think you have an eating disorder.

Weight Loss Will the stretch marks fade a bit? Oct 27 2008

I had stretch marks on my arm. About three years ago, they were dark, but now, they are much lighter (but my arms are still a bit big).

I think using olive oil will help, & as kizzichan said, cocoa butter may also work.

Weight Loss How Much Cardio? Oct 27 2008
11:39 (UTC)

For me, it's not about how many minutes I do, but the amount of calories I burn because I do different workouts.

I aim for a minimum of 500 calories. each day, everyday. Although there are sometimes when I miss a day or I do less than 500 calories.

I think the best thing for you to do is eat fruits and vegetables--whether or not they are negative calorie foods.
Also, I read that all of those negative calorie foods are fruits & veggies anyway.
