Hi - what happens for some doesn't necessarily happen to others, but it is not NOT normal to gain when you first start out. Don't worry about the scale 2 days after a weigh-in; your weight will fluctuate from day to day and sometimes for no real reason. I workout hard every day and yet there are days when I go up without any change in my diet.  If you're eating right, working out, getting enough sleep and getting your water you will see the results you seek - its not going to be overnight, though.

The one thing I will try to stress is that you need to make sure you're eating enough...starvation will not get you the results; eating a well-balanced diet will.  Trust me, I learned it the hard way.

Slow and steady wins the race...we're not on diets; we've made lifestyle changes (nutrition, exercise and sleep patterns) that will benefit us for the long-term.

Good luck to you! - Wanda

Welcome to CC! You're funny! I don't know much about caloric needs and stuff like that; I rely on the members on this sight for that kind of information. I was overeating by ~ 250 calories for a while; I made the adjustment and increased my workouts and the weight started to fall off.  You will to do it - just remember that we're here if you need us. We're one big family here. Log everything you eat - even if you think it won't matter (I even log my water) and log all of your activities. if you need to write it down (which is exactly what I do on the weekends) then do it; you want to hot this summer, remember??? Good luck on reaching your ultimate fitness goals. - Wanda

I'm really glad you asked this; I was going to ask it myself.  I have started to break up my work-outs into 2 sessions - 3 miles in the AM and 2-3 in the PM and was wondering the same thing.  Thanks, all for the responses. - Wanda

I used to have that problem, then one day I really acknowledged I was really losing weight - did a lot for my self-esteem.  My daughter (the one in the picture with me) put a pair of my "fat girl" pants next to the ones I was wearing then and I couldn't ignore the facts...I was no longer 200+ pounds...I had actually lost weight!  I probably cried for over an hour.  Congratulations on your weight-loss so far...15 pound weight-loss is nothing "not" to get excited about!  Continued good luck! - Wanda

Every time I saw someone I knew, I told them...I realize waiting until the 1st trimester is best; I was too young & dumb to know that!  I would tell those who are dearest to you and wait for the others...Don't make an announcement...let the baby bump do the speaking for youSealed... CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

Crazy question...what is a barrel roll?

The Lounge I've got some questions about name changin'. Apr 03 2008

You have to show proof that your name should be changed; marriage certificate.  I sent a copy of my new drivers license along with my marriage certificate to my credit card companies when I sent the request in.  Giving them a "heads-up" won't really do anything except frustrate you when you realize they have no idea what you're talking about later on.  For SS and the DMV, you have to go into the office with the original marriage certificate (or you can mail it in for SS, not for DMV)...this also goes for your passport.  Also, go in person when you change you name at your bank...for security.

If you can convince Alex to take your name, you have to tell me your secret.  Derek would never take my last name...he was upset that it took me so long to change it to his. Surprised

Good luck! - Wanda

Weight Loss Need advice... Mar 26 2008

You have to eat more than 500 calories; I'm not trying to preach to you, but for a while I was only eating 500 - 600 calories and I was so sick and my body went into starvation mode. So when I ate more than normal, I actually put on weight - even if I was below what CC suggested. You really should take in more calories - try eating some fruit.  Good luck!

Pregnancy & Parenting What do you think of dad adopting the baby at birth? Mar 26 2008
21:09 (UTC)

Not many people know this about me, but I gave a baby up for adoption when I was in college and it was the very best thing I ever did...for me and Theresa. I took the extra time after birth to get to know her and to determine if I wanted another baby. Although she was an absolutely wonderful infant, I knew a second child was not in the cards for me and she deserved to be with a family who truly wanted her. It was one of the most difficult things I ever did, but I know she is well taken care of. Theresa's mother sends me pictures every so often and has kept me up to date on her and I have made sure they know how to reach me and have let them know how I'm doing. I didn't ask her to, she thought one day if either of us (me or Theresa) wanted to get to know the other, these letters and pictures would help get us there. As far as Theresa is concerned, the woman who raised her is her mother and I am the person who put them together...

I just wanted you to know that its not always a bad thing not to raise a child, its not in the cards for all of us. Make a decision you can be comfortable with - LONG TERM.  I'll pray for your and your family and I wish you well.

Hi, I'll be 40 in a little more than 2 months and I can't wait. I would like to finally loose the last 10-12 lbs, but its not happening. It was suggested to me by some of my friends here to change my workout routing; I started that last week. Haven't seen any results yet, but I'm optimistic. Good luck!

Weight Loss How is it possible... Jan 25 2008

Where do you shop? I weighed 135 and was able to fit into Ann Taylor's size 2 slacks and jeans.  Now at 125 I'm in size 0 at AT; its all about where you shop.  One of my friends weighs probably 140, she shops at Express; I think she wears a 6 or an 8.  I can fit into a 2 at Express right now.  Also, it depends on how you want the clothes to fit; I go for a more loose fit while she likes her clothing to really fit.  Hope this helps, it probably won't...good luck!

I never thought of divorcing my "bad" foods...thanks!

  1. Breyer's butter almond ice-cream: I love you so much and you love me too -- that's our problem...you won't leave when I ask you to and my scale yells at me in the morning
  2. Cheese: we've been together so long its seems cruel to part, but its time...you'll find someone who can tolerate you better in smaller portions
  3. All deli sandwiches: Slack's Hoagie Shack is no longer on my speed dial - I had to delete them so you can't sneak onto my lunch plate...all of you taste so good and I love you, but you're making my jeans a little tight...you've gotta go!

I don't think this is childish at all...this is genius-worthy!  I've actually reached my preliminary weight goal, but if I don't leave these guys alone, I'll be right back where I started.  Thanks again, Yellowrosey777!
