If you are eating way less calories than you naturally burn, you will automatically lose weight through time.

Count your calories and eat less than what you naturally burn.  This site is great for that.

Easy things to eat:

  • Buy whole rotisserie chicken; keep left overs for the next day (great cold too);
  • Cans of tuna in water;
  • Cans of Chunky Soup are great BUT watch your calories;
  • Buy high quality protein bars for lunch or an occasional meal replacement;
  • Keep tons of vegetables and eat as much as you want and season with any spices (celery, tomatoes, romaine lettuce, carrots, cucumbers, etc.);
  • Keep in your freezer any fish, meat, chicken.  Boil it in water and add any amount of vegetable and spices.  Make a huge soup like this and eat as much as you want.  It is fun to do and quite relaxing (smells great too).
  • Drink teas without sugar;
  • Hard boiled eggs are handy; boil up a few and keep for the next day in the fridge.
  • In the oven, broil steaks.  Keep left overs for the next day.

As you can see, you can prepare quite a bit and eat all day long if you want.  Keep an open mind and enjoy the experience.  Plan it out and you will even save time.  Eat for survival.

Weight Loss i just cant seem to do it, I love my junk food Dec 08 2008

Not easy but possible.  It is all state of mind.  Bottom line, you must consume less calories than you are naturally burning (providing you are not really exercising).  So, enter EVERYTHING you eat, everyday, and compare the burn with the consumption.  BTW, feeling a bit hungry sometimes until the next meal or morning is fine.

You can eat only your junk food but not as much.  Not the greatest idea but if you count those calories, you can actually lose weight eating the crap.

Best way is to budget for the junk food.  Let's say you burn 2,300 calories a day naturally doing nothing (simply being alive).  So, you have to consume, for example, 1,600 calories as day and YOU WILL lose weight.  The trick now is to play with what you are eating.  In the morning limit it to maximum 500 calories.  Lunch have a Subway 6" on whole wheat, Turkey, with cheese, any vegetables in it and yellow mustard (this is what I usually have and love it); that's around 350 calories.  Drink water, plain green tea, black coffee or a diet soda if you must.  Now you are up to  850 calories.  When you get home, be selective.  A huge mixed vegetable salad seasoned with Balsamic vinegar and spices is only around 120 calories (no oil or prepared dressing).  A bit of protein (can of tuna, chicken breast (no skin), piece of steak)...another 200 calories depending on the portion which you should limit.  1,170 calories now.  430 calories left to consume and have fun with (I might have 3 ozs of whiskey one night---that's 210 calories).

This is basically the routine.  If you can have fun with it at this site like I do and stick to it for 21 straight days, then it'll become a habit!  Also great to monitor is the weight graph and the changes in the target date.

Have fun with it and it'll work automatically like magic.

Calm down.  Try to NOT work overtime due to the business's lack of personnel.  Walk around a few blocks every night (regardless of temperature).  Try natural supplement called St. John's Wart OR two jiggers (3 oz) of vodka or whiskey prior to bed (hey, just a suggestion).

 but he cheated on his girlfriend to be with me.

 And he will cheat on you when he finds someone he is more interested in (or when you start to bore him)... i mean... what kind of person cheats on the person they are with? If they lose interest, thats fine, it happens... at LEAST they could is end it and move on...

But, if you are having fun, go with it and use him as long as you want (then dump him like he would you when your bored). But, i really wouldnt get attached...thats just asking for trouble (because you KNOW he is the type that behaves like that...its not a question of "if"...its a question of "when").

 Hmmm....be careful!

It is normal.  Next time rinse them twice.  Canned mushrooms are great as an alternative to fresh but shouldn't be used exclusively (only because fresh is so much better).

Hey, it is NEVER a waste.  All the classes are accumulative to who you are today.  As long as you are pursuing it, it is great.  Just complete it, no matter how long it takes!  Trust me!  In the end, it all works out and just explain that to your parents too and they will knowingly understand.

Nothing wrong with supplementing with a high quality protein bar (usually up to 30 grams of protein per bar).  Check with GNC or any body building shop (even Costco).

1 liter of water = 2.204684 pounds

So, don't drink water just before going on the scale and try to "pee" prior to weighing yourself....lol...but it's true.

You said that your family is all messed up.  At least you are aware.  Terrible situation to be in and I can't even imagine what it is like for you.  So, even without your experience, all I can say is that first, you must look at yourself as an individual and separate yourself from your messed up family.

If you are close to your brother, then do not stop being close.  If you're not close, well he clearly needs help without you.  It is not about you, it is about him.  Only he can change his mental state and only if that change is truly possible and supported by everyone caring enough to see him through it.

As far as how you should deal with this, there is no how-to-guide.  Every situation is unique.  Very often, reaching out to whatever religious belief that you may subscribe to will help.  Often even better than the so called "pros" (pyschologists, etc).

Wishing you the best through these extremely tough times Frown

I know what you mean.  I've found that it is not so much what I eat, but just the act of chomping and swallowing.  So, change what you chomp and swallow to carrots, celery, tomatoes, lettuce, etc.  Season them with a seasoning salt and or hot sauce or even a light soya or terriyaki.

Also good are concentrated soups like Bovril's chicken or beef.  Low in calories and fill yourself up.

Finally, and only if you are counting calories effectively, nothing wrong with two jiggers (i.e. 3 oz) of straight vodka or whiskey.  Providing that you do not go out afterwards and preferably are either on the computer and or then going to bed.

Good luck Wink

Pregnancy & Parenting Melamine in US infant formula. Dec 07 2008

This melamine crap just makes me sick!

Breastfeeding is best.  A must to say the least!

If you have to change the brand due to this melamine, CHANGE IT.

Then when your baby is off of the formula, make your own baby food by boiling all ingredients and then pureeing it (i.e. carrots, potatoes, spinach, chicken, peas, etc, etc).

IMHO, since you are now seriously training, the best meal after that workout is protein.  Eat a steak, chicken (no skin and not in a sandwich, just the meat) or fish.

When I weight trained heavily, I used to have a protein shake right after my work out.  Check with GNC or any body building shop.

I love hot sause too.  Tobasco does it for me.  I like others too, but the staple hot sauce for me is Tobasco.

Read you post.  Sorry about your problem.  Wish you didn't have it.  Let me tell you something as a guy, women are beautiful when they are just being themselves.  Size is not the issue in a guy's eye!  Most depictions of women in magazines are not what guys really care about.  We care about personality, openess, spirit, hygiene and heatlh to name only a few.  I'm not a psychologist, just a realist with common sense.

Enjoy yourself!  Use hotsauce on everything.  Follow your nutritionist's plan to reach your normal weight and then use this site to maintain your calories and have fun with it.  Afterall, its on the Internet and it is fun to do.  I'm just loving it!

Good luck Wink

New Members Do I have to weigh myself? Dec 07 2008
05:37 (UTC)

IMHO, you have to weigh yourself every single day at the same time (i.e. either when you wake up, get home from work or before dinner) and preferably with the same clothing (its weight matters too--I prefer practically nude).

The key is to use all the features of this site.  It's free and pretty easy.  You must enter the food you eat (improvise where you have to).  You can search it and if not found, enter ALL the details of the nutrition label.

You MUST eat less calories the what you burn naturally.  If yes, then the site will show you when you will reach your target weight.  It's all math!

Good luck Wink

Calorie Count SUGGESTION: To be able to search through my daily food log for an item. Dec 07 2008
05:26 (UTC)
Original Post by kajikit:

This would be a hugely useful function to have... especially for when you make a meal and freeze the leftovers, then come to eat them four or five months later - you know that the original entry has got to be there SOMEWHERE, but finding it is a tedious business. If you tagged every dish you ever made, the tag list would be so long as to be utterly useless!

Exactly my point.  Maybe the caloriecount programers can work on this.  Should be pretty much like the search function in gmail.  Doesn't matter how old the email is among thousands (and many pages) and finds the key word instantly.
