For me, thighs and butt were the first place I lost. Now, if I could only get the fat off my waist and chest... |

Mocha with Jack Daniel's. Standard for weekends and camping trips. But obviously not lo-cal. |

Fish only smells "fishy" when it's spoiling. Your choices are wide open, as long as you buy fresh fish. My personal favorites are swordfish and halibut. |

Not to hijack the thread, and I certainly don't believe that dreams "mean" anything (other than random synapse firings influenced by memories and experiences), but I've always heard that when you "die" in a dream, you die in real life. I'm here to announce that this is absolutely NOT true, as I have died 3 times in dreams, and twice in the last week! Once, as a kid, I was torn to pieces by a vicious ringtail. Last Sunday, I was on an underwater salvage operation, my scuba regulator failed, and I took a deep breath of seawater before I could swim to the surface. And Tuesday night, I received a rifle bullet through the skull. Gene Hackman was the shooter. It was a solid hit, and though I clamped my hand over the entry wound to stop the bloodflow, I didn't make it to the hospital. Just thought I'd share.

| The Lounge | How long did you date before moving in with your SO? | Sep 01 2009 22:30 (UTC) |

With Almost-Wife (1984), it was 8 months. We lived together for almost 3-1/2 years. With Wife #1 (1988), 3 months. We were married for 8 years, but I don't think we spent more than 6 months at a time living together! With Wife #2 (1998), it was a full year. We've been married for 10 years +. So obviously, there's no pattern- it just depends on the 2 individuals and how they feel about things. |

| Motivation | It's going to take forever...how did you stay motivated at the beginning? | Aug 28 2009 22:04 (UTC) |

Original Post by caverlady: I second this view. I've been at it for 10 months and have lost 52 pounds. But now, instead of 6 or 8 pounds lost each month, I'm lucky if it's 2! It was easy to stay motivated when the weight was falling off; I was also allowed to eat quite a bit more (2400 cal/day) when I started. Now that I've lost a bunch of weight, I have to stay below 1800 cal/day, and that is EXTREMELY difficult for me! |

| The Lounge | Tell me that I'm overreacting | Aug 27 2009 17:31 (UTC) |

After I married my 1st wife, she found a box of my old "memories"- pix of ex-girlfriends, old letters, even my jr.hi yearbooks. She tossed all of it, saying that none of it mattered anymore. 20+ years later, I still feel sick when I think about it, and it's one of many reasons that I hate that bitch. Yes, you would be overreacting to get upset about it or to take any action against it. And your bf will hate you. |

| Weight Loss | Sugar SUGAR SUGAR!!!! | Aug 26 2009 18:33 (UTC) |

It shouldn't really matter. As far as I'm concerned, I don't pay attention to the actual amount of any one component as long as I'm eating a balanced diet and not going over my calorie budget. I still eat all the foods I used to eat, just in smaller amounts. |

It may be that the 9 or 6 teaspoons of sugar refers to processed sugar. I believe the natural sugars found in fruits and vegetables are nutritionally different from the processed sugar. |

I got carded regularly until I was in my mid-30s. I am now 46 and people consistently think I'm at least 10 years younger. Not a problem for me. |

As far as I know, your target date reacts to your weight log entries, so if you haven't logged a weight loss, your target date will stretch into the future. You didn't mention if you had lost any weight... |

Why would you NOT want to eat carbs? Carbs are a very necessary part of a healthy diet. You also say you've gained 4 lbs. In how much time? It's not unusual to gain a few pounds the first few weeks after starting a new "diet." As dolphinclick stated, you would need to provide more info. |

That's nothing. What REALLY stinks is enforced days off WITHOUT pay! My employer is requiring 5 of these from everyone for the rest of the year, in order to cut back on expenses. |

| Motivation | Anyone else feel extremely guilty after eating something totally off of your diet???? | Jul 29 2009 22:35 (UTC) |
8 |
No, because nothing is "off my diet." I don't restrict the foods I eat, I just pay more attention to the amounts, and of course try to eat foods that are more healthful. But if I want a piece of cheescake, I have a piece of cheescake- I just don't eat 4 servings of it. And even though I'm still in "losing" mode, if I happen to go over my calorie "limit" for the day I don't get upset about it or torture myself with self-imposed "guilt." I've lost 50 pounds in the last 9 months, slowly and steadily, so I don't see any reason to label an occasional incident of overeating or indulging as a "failure." |

Original Post by jules817: Coincidentally Jules, the 23rd was the first thing I went to after reading the Genesis chapter. It explains nothing. Yes, I understand that "Ceiling Cat" is "God," etc.; what I don't get is the language, the painful spelling, the point of view (some kind of cat, I presume). Is it supposed to be as if a cat wrote the Bible? Then yes, someone has way too much time on their hands, and now my head hurts from trying to read it! |

OK, I'm afraid I just don't get it (something that doesn't happen very often). Can someone please explain what this is, and it's significance? I'd appreciate it. |
