That's a sweet story CD!

San,

I've always heard that any mother would prefer their child bouncing off the wall than laying on the couch sick! This is so true. I want boys someday.  Have fun with that. Cool

Leslie,

That sounds like a horrible thing to do for a living but I am sure you help so many people and have saved soooo many lives. I commend you.  Your a good woman for that!

Truly, plan on not working next year on Eve and N Y Day. That'll relieve a bit of stress. Good luck!

Poor Santonacci,

So on any given day, you could've had maybe 5-6 hrs of sleep and the kids are still bouncing off the walls huh?  That's horrible. The joys of parenting! Wouldn't you say...

I have never heard of your heart rate going up after a night of drinking but I can confirm that one will lose a lot of white blood cells.  Alcohol, unless in moderation, is simply not good for you.  Hope this helps.

Lonestar and Sweetpea,

Better safe than sorry! You should be proud to have stayed in all night!

Staps,

I'm sure your not an old fart, you just prefer not to hang out like you used to. There's nothing wrong with that.

We should all be thankful that we made it to 2009, right?

Young Calorie Counters I need advice on how to lose weight? Jan 01 2009

In addition, I want to lose weight too. I am about 147lbs. 5"4.5 and 24 years old. I have done really good so far losing the first 21 lbs. But my goal weight is 135-138. Any suggestions on how to get the last 10-12 lbs off? I know that's not that much to go but I really want it to come off before March 1st 2009.

So per my suggestions in the first response, I have been doing this routine for about 5 months now and it's taking a little longer for these last 10 lbs to come off. What should I incorporate to see a change and step over this plateau?

Never tried it! I am concerned about the brownies to the side of this forum that keep blinking at me.  I am craving food hard right now.  And with me staying up this late, I am destined to jack up my sleep patterns.  This is going to hurt me brutally.

Lostiee,

Eat your recommended calories, but before 5pm. After 5, only drink water and continue this cycle until you've lost the weight. Trust me it works especially if your metabolism is slower like mine.  Food just sits there and doesn't digest for me after 5pm. I usually eat all meals in my car or right before I leave work for the day to go to the gym.  I can't think of the last time I've eaten at home.

Also, are you working out? Try 1.5 hrs of cardio 4-5 days a week (jogging, speed walking, basketball...if that's what you like).  May sure you rest your body on two consectutive days though.  I have lost 21 lbs this way, and still counting. Good luck!

Skook,

That does sound relaxing--the bath and all. Maybe I'll do that when I go home, bubble-bath and relax (no wine though, unneeded calories that just aren't worth it as it is too close to my weigh-in date).

...I wonder how many speeding tickets and DUI's cops gave out this year? It's a shame that people will really try to test cops on N Y's day huh.

Sheesh.  I only NOW got to sit down and eat lunch, and it's only because I'm putting off my 2 AM orders for a few minutes.

Poor you CD! Well, I hope your night gets much better after all of the ranting and raving these accident-prone people are putting you through. Good luck with that.

I crave food all the time. I doesn't help that in the gym I work out in you see Taco Bell commercials, and Burger King, McDonald's, Arby's, Krystals, Chik Fil a, Subway cookies, Pizza Hut and every other fast food that your going to have to basically pass while driving on the way home from the gym! I can control myself but its just the principal of it all. I am so hungry right now just thinking about everything that I listed. However, I have this don't eat after 5 pm rule that really works so, I have to starve myself to sleep. Does anyone else do this?

This happened to me too, living with a man that can eat whatever, and not gain a lb.  So, I recently moved back home with my parents and so did he as well to save money until the wedding...BOOM! I lost 30 lbs. lol. I totally blame him for the weight gained.  I have no self control when it comes to good smelling foods. And since my parents don't keep crappy foods in the house (i.e. pizza, chips, snickers bars, reese's, high calorie ice creams, oils, butters, candies, etc.), and my parents are also slender people, they got me motivated to get back on track.  What i am afraid of though, it after the wedding, when we move back in together, will I keep these healthy habits???? I'm scared!

I am 5'5", 19 years old, and my weight is usually around 130. I've gone down from a size 10 tall to a size 4 tall (I have very long legs for my frame), but I'm getting close to a 2. Downside of losing weight is I now have waaay too many pairs of jeans that don't fit.

"Downside of losing weight is I now have waaay too many pairs of jeans that don't fit." Good point! I'm going to sale my old jeans at Plato's closet.

Red meat gets a bad rep because it is higher in saturated fat than other meats. People on diets usually have chicken for protein since it is leaner, I guess.

I did some research on this and it seems that the percentage of chicken being healthier than red meats is only about a 3% difference. According to some doctors, neither one is really actually good for you.

Weight Loss For those who have managed to lose 20LBS before.. questions.. Dec 01 2008

It took me 14 weeks to lose 20 lbs. I ate about 1400-1500 daily and on every weigh in day, which for me was Sunday, I ate whatever I wanted but got right back on it on Monday morning.  I cut sweets completely out for the 1st month b/c I didn't know how to handle sweets but gradually put them back into my diet.  I worked in an office so with sitting down, I went to the gym 5 days a week after work and workout for 1hr and 15 mins - 1 hr and 45 mins at the most 2 hrs.   ALL cardio, running, speed walking, walking with hand weights, walking/jogging with ankle weights, and walking with bar bells too. And, I burned anywhere from 350-600 calories per workout.  No lifting because my weigh was too big, I would've bulked up manly-like.

I'm 5'4.5

Highest weight: 186

SW: 176

CW:150.8

GW:139

I told myself when I get down to 140, I want to start heavy lifting to tone EVERYTHING.

By the way, I was in a size 12, now I am in a size 8 and it's lose, not tight and sloppy looking! I am so excited because I have been in a size 10 for the longest! I am soo happy with my weight lose.

Good luck to you, you can do it if I can!

Don't know where you live but if you've recently had to turn to on the heater in your home due to weather change, inhaling this at night could potentially cause black stuff to build up in your nose from the fumes.  If it's not that, I don't know what it could be. Thus, SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION!

I like digital only because that's what I saw to be the cheapest at the time that I bought it. Its starting to frustrate me though because it weighs me differently all the time.  It will always have me weighing about 3-4lbs more than the scales at WW (even though they still take off the two lbs for your clothes.

This past sunday @ WW I weighed in at 153.6. So I'm looking to be in the 140s before long. I'm very excited!

Health & Support RUNNERS~ cramps question! Nov 10 2008

That used to happen to me when I first started running.  It was typically during the middle of the night when I would stretch my body as I was turning to a new position to sleep, I would get a Charlie Horse!  OMG, it hurt so bad. Then, I started eating a banana a day, and sure enough, no more Charlie Horses to this day. I also stretched first too before each work out. Good luck to you!
