Im doing awful this week. i went out again last night. out til 4:00 AM. Exhausted when i got up for work this morning. I think I might have still been drunk when i was driving.. haha but really, I was so hung over and hungry today and forgot to have breakfast so at lunch we ordered the 99 restaurant for staff lunch and i got turkey breast slices with a little gravy and cran sauce, mashed potatos, corn, stuffing, a biscuit. I didnt eat a lot of it, so Ill eat leftovers for dinner. i guess that makes it not so awful, lots of calories but if I just have that and maybe a salad for a snack later it shouldnt be too bad. Yesterday we went out to Fridays for dinner with another couple we havent seen in forever. it was nice but I had a steak and mashed potatos. I havent logged my calories for the last two days and I have no desire to do it now so Ill probably be logging like crazy on Monday. Seeing those numbers be so high only irritates me. And Im even more angry because I went to the gym yesterday and did 610 calories which is good, but I would usually go after work today and am not going to. I was too hung over this morning to even think about it and i got like 3 hours of sleep so Im exhausted. The gym clses at 9, so maybe I can go home and relax and then go later but I probably wont. I usually have Saturday off, but Im def gonna have to go tomorrow after skipping Monday too. So basically, Im in a bit of a slump these last few days and trying to get abck on track. |

Hi Julia, Im glad that you are feeling better than you have for the last year. it is very important to use protection when you have a sexual partner. Of course whether your relationship is monogamous and you believe it makes a big difference. Also, if you are going to go on the pill and stop using condoms then both you and your partner should go get tested for STD's before you do. I have plenty of guy friends that are great in a relationship, but absolutely disgusting pigs when they're single. I take orthotricyclen (well, actually a generic for it) and have for years. ive never had any problems with it or weight gain. it also does really help my skin. Two months I couldnt get any pills I used my friend's ortho-tri-cyclen lo. I gained weight on that immediately without changing any of my other behaviors. it was def. that pill. So I went back to the regular as soon as possible! Some of the generics Ive gotten from Wal-Mart I felt were not as good at clearing my skin, but had no other problems from them. The generic Im on now from wal-mart is good and it seems they've finally settled on that one instead of switching every couple of months like they used to. Either way, it seems to me that if you aren't comfortable carrying condoms then maybe you shouldnt be having sex at all. It's one thing to be uncomfortable going into the store and buying them, but just carrying them in your purse shouldn't be an issue. You should be comfortable with yourself and all aspects of sex before you do it. |

Hi Ladies, Here is the list of weights. The three of us who did calorie deficits for this week will be listed also. For those who are just joining we report that on Mondays and hopefully this list that I post will help everyone see what deficit they should be at so that they can tweak their workouts and eating for optimum loss! 11/5: Janay101: 153.5 (-5.5 lbs) w/ cal deficit of 234/day (I'm sure this is explained by your weight fluctuation last week, is it more steady this week?) Lms1317: 146.25 (-2.25 lbs) w/ cal deficit of 857 cal/day Pouple80601: 139.2 (Even) w/ cal deficit of 246 cal/day Opalaurora: 139.2 (+0.2 lbs) w unknown deficit Jmalone1989: 164.4 (first weigh in) DeeGee52: 137 (first weigh in) Mom6: 132 (first weigh in) I have been reading about deficits more and the average weight loss at a 500 cal deficit is 1 lb/week, so between 500-1000 would be 1-2 lbs, which is the recommended level of weight loss. Keep up the good work girls and I look forward to next week when everyone will have a deficit and weight loss or gain to compare.

Good morning everyone, So I went to the gym last night. Did an hour on the elliptical, 652 calories... but at the end I had the worst pressure in my head. It was just this awful headache covering the whole top of my head. It felt like extreme pressure. I only went ten minutes more than I normally do and Im usually fine, so maybe I was just having a headache. I still have a bit of a headache this morning, so I dont think it was related. I weighed myself at the end and was at 146.25. YAY! Even with my skipping the gym Monday and drinking to excess the last few days I still lost some weight. This week my goal is to not skip the gym at all, stick to my cal intake during the week, and stay at maintenance on the weekends. Hopefully then I'll lose more next week. |

Hey laidies, I dont weigh myself until after the gym tonight. I had a lot of calories this weekend and missed my workout on Monday, followed by a calzone for dinner last night (like 1000 calories) and 5 woodchuck ciders at 140 cal each. So for the day I was over 2100, which sucks. There's def no way I have lost any weight, but as long as I didnt gain any I guess I'll be alright for now. Gonna spend an extra long time on the elliptical tonight. Gonna shoot for an hour. Good job on no one having a weight gain! let's keep up the good work. |

Sure jmalone, you can join us. Yesterday was our first week posting calories. Last Wednesday we posted our first weights with a goal of ten less than that. If you want to start this Wednesday by posting your weight Ill add you to the list. Please read through the previous posts to get the full understanding of what we are posting and why. My family is from Mass. My mom grew up in Lowell and my dad in Tewksbury. I was born in Lowell. My whole extended family still lives there. My bf mocks me all the time for saying "wicked." Which btw, I didnt even know I said because I was from Mass. until like 2 years ago. Tell us some more about you... |

Hey everyone! it's election day, YAY! Janay, just take ur BMR, multiply it by the number of days and then subtract that also. Then divide that number by 7 to get your average deficit per day. So... 12,000(ate) - 1250 (worked out) - (1770 * 7 = 12,390) = 1640/7 = -234 So Janay your daily deficit is 234 calories. So, yesterday I didnt go to the gym because I was going to get there late and it would have been ridiculously crowded. Then I didnt want to go out in the dark to my car then try to find a parking space when I got home at 10:00 pm. Im sure none of you know but a college kid got shot in the head a week and a half ago on my street a few blocks down and people are getting mugged like crazy here in Albany. They're saying they think it's groups of 3 to 4 people targeting people walking alone for gang initiation. It makes it creepy though because I have to park on the street and sometimes far away. So either way I didnt go to the gym, and I didnt eat great yesterday either. Today I wont go to the gym b/c I need to go home and vote, then it'll be around 7 when polls start to close and since Im a big dork it's like my fav day. i want to just get a 6 pack of cider and watch CNN all night. Of course with 200 cal per cider it certainly isnt gonna help me. I did so well last week and now I have absolutely zero motivation. Tomorrow it's back to the gym for an extra hard workout. And Ill have to go on Saturday this week to make up for the fact I didnt go yesterday, but Im sure I wont. Other than that, nothing new or exciting. Make sure you vote! |

Alright everyone. It's Monday! I drank a lot this weekend, but I had my deficits be high during the week to try to make up for it. So... Here is my first report. Cal. Consumed - Cal. from workouts - Daily Cal burned (number on burn meter before any workouts added) = Calorie Deficit Monday (10/27): 1233 (consumed) - 652 (workout) - 2000 (daily burn meter) = -1419 Tuesday(10/28): 1313 - 0 - 2000 = -687 Wednesday(10/29): 1283 - 621 - 2000 = -1338 Thursday(10/30): 1388 - 550 - 2000 = -1162 Friday(10/31): 2606 - 607 - 2000 = -1 Saturday(11/01): 2378 - 0 - 2000 = +378 Sunday(11/02): 791 - 560 - 2000 = -1769 Total deficit for week(10/27-11/02) = -5998 / 7 = -857 cal per day I dont want to have an overall deficit of more than 1000 a day, so 857 is good. Im happy with how I did this week. I went over on the weekend with all of my drinking, but I stay under the rest of the week. Im not willing to give up my drinking on the weekends at this point, so I have to shoot to be extra low during the week. I weighed myself at the gym yesterday and was at 147.25, so it looks like even with my crazy weekend Im still losing! YAY. I tried to set mine up so that it was easy to understand for the rest of you to do. If you have any questions just send a post. Ill be on most of the day. Looking forward to see how everyone else's weekends went! |

I usually cook every night, but not a large variety. I eat a lot of white rice, corn and chicken. That soup sounds amazing. I love cream corn and corn chowder. Im def gonna have to try it, plus it's so simple. Last night I roasted two chicken breasts and made white rice and corn. it was better than a chicken salad.. haha I have some leftovers that I'll probably have for dinner tonight. I don't have a microwave so I cook often. I know it seems crazy, but we always had one supplied in my apartments so when my bf and I moved in june we didnt have one and we havent gotten one yet. We get by pretty well although sometimes it can be very annoying. Although I do think that it stops us from eating a lot of frozen junk thats bad for you. The hardest thing for me right now is having breakfast. I am not a morning person and I am very forgetful. I started keeping apples, bananas and some lean pockets at my office so that I can eat something in the morning and get my metabolism going. Friday mornings I spend driving all over the Albany region delivering paychecks to all of the employees that i have out on jobs. So of course I forgot to bring an apple... refused to stop at Dunkin Donuts and was starving come lunch. Still managed to eat a lean cuisine panini and a half a banana. I hit my caorie goal yesterday about perfect... Im usually under, and I actually feel a little bad about it, which is silly. Thats my goal for a reason. This afternoon I have done some work and now im anxiously waiting for 5:00. i wish I had something exciting to do tonight, but it's just gym and home to watch some tv and veg. Not going out on Halloween... I feel so old. maybe someone will call and I'll change my mind and go out (in which case I have left myself like no room for alcohol calories.. haha). Oh well. |

Mini goals are great. They give you a sense of accomplishment more often, which when you're talking about weight loss, everyone needs. Everyone breaks down and eats more than they should. it happens and you just try hard not to do it all of the time. I had a lean cuisine around 11 with intent to eat something small again around 3, but my bf called me at 12:45 and wanted to stop by to go get lunch. That NEVER happens. It was so nice, but then it was like, well, what can I eat? We went to a Greek diner. Ultimately i got a salad with cottage cheese. In the entire diner they didnt have any low fat dressing so I got oil and vinegar with the intent of only using the vinegar, but I ended up putting some oil on it. Oil has the most ridiculous amount of calories. Ive taken to cooking with Canola spray, 0 calories, instead of butter or oil. My bf ate an open face sandwich with bacon, cheese, tomatos and french fries, plus a cup of soup. My mouth was watering. If I thought I might turn into a salad before I think I def. am now. Im having chicken and rice or something for dinner. No salad tonight. I can't handle it anymore. Thats the best way to fall off of a diet. No variety. Ive gotta check out the recipe section of this site and get some ideas. |

Alright ladies, Here are the starting weights for our overall goal of ten pounds. I know some of us have already lost since we started working out, but for the purposes of this group we will try to lose ten lbs. from yesterday's weights. In future weeks Ill log the weight and the + or - from the week before. LMS1317 - 148.5 Janay101 - 159 Poupe80601 - 139.2 OpalAurora - 139 It's great that there are a bunch of us, but not so many that it's too complicated. Im excited to see where we all go from here... hopefully down! I went to the gym yesterday, did 50 min on elliptical, weights for approx. 20 min. Had a big chicken salad for dinner (same as two nights before), so tonight I think Ill have something more than a salad so I dont turn into one. Planning on hitting the gym after work again today and doing similar amount of exercise. My bf has to work on Halloween and Im not much for dressing up, so Im gonna stay in. Otherwise I would go to the bar my friends own, but yesterday they got their liquor license suspended so they won't even be open. It sucks cause thats like my, "comfortable, dont care what anyone thinks of me" bar. I don't think they will reopen so now I'll be stuck going to other people's bars and dealing with stupid kids. Not going out Friday night will decrease my weekly cal intake pretty substantially though!

Hey everyone. 5'4" - 25 yrs old. Goal weight - 124 lbs 10/29/08 - 148.5 lbs I started out excersizing 3 weeks ago at 154. I changed my eating habits about a week and a half ago, so Im doing pretty well. My ultimate goal is 124 by Valentines Day, but thats almost 2 lbs a week til then and with working out and gaining muscle it doesnt seem very realistic. But hey, a girl can dream... Im gonna compile a formal list for everyone. |

Hey everyone! You should put your goal weight once at the top and then put your actual weight by the date. I dont weigh in until tonight after the gym. We had staff lunch today which we usually do on Friday's and so we got Chili's. At least they have a "low calorie" spot on the menu. I had a "Guiltless Chicken Sandwich," but I still feel guilty about it. At 490 Calories it was a lot better than anything else on the menu... and I didnt eat the big tub of black beans so I feel like it wasnt even 490. Either way. In order to get your deficit you basically need to subtract your calorie intake total from your burn meter total at the end of the day. Between 500 - 1000 is good, or at least thats what I read. Didn't go to the gym yesterday since it was Tuesday, but it made me feel lazy. Im currently trying to motivate myself to go today. Wednesdays are so busy at my gym right after work and I know if I go home and then go to the gym it'll probably never happen. Janay... Your weight fluctuation could have to do with what time of day you are taking it. Are you doing it at the same time every day? The morning is the best time to weigh yourself. I dont have a scale at home so i tend to do it after I work out. It's the first day so for now ur gonna try to get down to 149... thats good. Check it tomorrow and see if it fluctuates a lot. Ill be weighing myself tonight and will post it later on. My weight today will be my starting point for the ten pound initial loss. Good luck everyone and keep working hard! |

That weigh in form looks great. I think we should start the calorie logs next Monday. now that we all know what we are going to log and keep track of we have an understanding of what we need to do. We can start the weigh in's tomorrow. That way next week we have something to compare to. |

Poupe, That is exactly what Im saying. Great example. I have no problem doing the math if you guys just want to log the totals, or you can also do the math if you'd like. Basically log cal consumed for the week. Cal burned for the week, including exercise. and then subtract equals your deficit. The higher the deficit the more weight loss, although the deficit shouldnt be too high, thats not good for you. Im trying to keep my deficit around 800-1000 a day, which is kinda high, but I have an ambitious goal. And Im still eating around 1300 cal a day, which is healthy. yea so like I said you're welcome to do the math yourself or I will. its up to you. Then Wed after weigh ins Ill combine all the info to one post and we can figure out whats working and what isn't. Im excited. |

I wish I had the motivation to go to the gym in the morning, but I dont. I usually go after work probably 4 days a week, and on Sundays, totalling 5. I take off Saturday and Tuesday. My bf works MWF nights, so I take off Tuesday and usually try to get him to come meet me on Thursdays. Yesterday I left work ten min early to go to the gym, and it was already very full. i think I got the last elliptical which was fantastic. i dont know what I would have done if Id had to wait for a machine. My boss is understanding about it though and doesn't mind if i leave a few minutes early to try to beat the rush. I'm getting into eating apples and bananas, although it's surprising how many calories they have. It's ok though cause they're good for me. And still less calories than most snacks and breakfast foods. Last night after 50 min on elliptical (550 calories), and about 30 min of weight lifting (legs) I got home and made myself a huge chicken salad which was very good and watched some tv. After resisting eating some of the carrot cake with cream cheese frosting that was in the fridge for at least an hour I finally gave in and had some. I didn't go too crazy with it and figured since I had worked extra hard at the gym it was ok. I'm sure i was under for my calories for the day anyways, although after lying down i couldnt bring myself to get up and go log my dinner ones. A chicken salad with lite dressing, not too many calories. I weighed myself when leaving the gym, like I usually do and I can finally move the big weight on the bottom from 150 back to 100... of course then I have to move the top one all the way to the end.. haha, but it made me feel good. As far as the workout and cal intake on mondays I think we should do calories burned vs. calories consumed. That will give everyone a good look at their calorie deficit for the week, which can be compared to their weight loss/gain to see what works for each individual, since everyone's body is different. What do you guys think? |

Hey everyone, sorry Ive had a few busy days. Ive been thinking about it and I def agree with poupe80601. Wednesday is a good day for weigh ins. Lets report weight on Wed (include loss or gain for reference), and then we can report exercise and cal consumed on say Monday. Ill go through the posts at the end of that day and compile the data for everyone to see. It looks like we have a good bunch of people with similar goals. Let's work hard to get there! Im going to the gym in about 45 min (after work) and Im upping my cardio to 45-50 minutes and doing legs today. I'll weigh myself there since I have no scale at home, which I dont know if thats good or bad. I slacked a little on me eating this weekend b/c I waited for a table at a local sports bar for the length of a football game, ended up starving and ultimately went to fridays and had nachos and a steak sandwich. One day a week isn't bad though. I managed to make myself eat a salad when I got home from the bar Friday night instead of stopping for pizza, it was rough. How about everyone else's weekends? |
