Weight Loss Fat Bias: Why ISN'T it Majority Rule? Nov 07 2009

I can't stand when ANYONE stranger of friend, makes a derrogatory comment about someones weight, fitnees, shape, etc. It's the worst thing I know, everyone is different, and yes maybe some people could have lived healthier and it's their own fault. But I know for some it's not their choice. I personally know 1-5girls who are quite obese due to an eating disorder in their younger teen years, their bodies fritzed out, and there's nothing they can do. And I don't say that in a way to indicate they've given up, for they certainly have not.

But I always imagine, if that over weight, fat, ugly or obese person was me... I would be devastated to hear some of the comments people make. Already now I'm super self-concious about my body and weight, and I'm not overweight. My heart goes out to those who maybe don't have it as "easy" or good as some of us, the ones who constantly struggle against the rest of humanities evil remarks and comments. Who's to judge anyways!! It makes me so angry. Some of the sweetest people I know, range from chubby to obese. we always talk about how the media is so wrong, promoting the "skinny" image, yet many still go with it. If we'd all just decide that bones are not what's normal. Life would be easier on a lot of people.

And yes vertigal, nicely written post.. ;-)

I do have vegetables at home, I get a real bargain of a box of fruit and veggies every week from my bf's job.  and I tell myself I'll eat them, but then I end up going and buying sugary cereals, or some bread of some sort, or somethign sweet, which makes me feel sickish, but then I ate more or make custard or cream to make myself feel sick enough to purge it cause I don't want it in my body. I will go find a GP tomorrow on my way home from school. And as stupid as it sounds, hearing this from someone else kinda helps.. So tx...

Yeah I know the story/feeling as well. I'm more focused on calorie counting and what I eat then anything else, sometimes I wish my knowledge of calories etc etc, didn't exist. That I could just live normally and try to be healthy... without the constant calculator in my head adding it all up...

I'm exactly the same. and I really don't know what to do to get over it, and since I also struggle with Bulimia it's a vicious cycle for me. And it caries on into the next day, it's like I stretched my stomach at night, and the next day it's bigger and "craves more" and I can't say no .. :-(

Weight Gain Question Regarding Amenorrhea Jul 11 2009

I lost my period for awhile too, and it actually freaked me out a bit, cause that's a sure sign that something is wrong with your body. It took me a long time to get it back, but gaining weight isn't the ONLY thing, You need to keep the weight on and gain the right kind. by eating nutritious foods, a lack of iron can also be the cause, so I personally take extra Iron tablets and it's helped, I was gonna start birth control to get it back, but I wanted my body to be healthy enough on it's own, so I didn't start the birth control till it came back on it's own. And yeah never thought I'd say it or ever hear a girl say it, but I'm happy it's back.

Foods For some odd reason Caffine Free Diet Coke curbs my hunger. Is this good? Jul 07 2009
08:52 (UTC)

I did the same, but then I researched the sweetener in it, which is Aspartame, which can be very bad for you if you drink too much of it, I was getting mirgrane headaches and thought that might be the cause, so I'm cutting it down a bit, but I love diet Coke, so I can't cut it out all the way..

Motivation Does anybody else binge at home when others are not around, but when others are around say "No" to all junk food Jul 05 2009
18:27 (UTC)
14

I am EXACTLY the same. When I'm out and offered anything high kcal or high fat or even something when I'm not really hungry I easily say no. And sometimes my boyfriend has to convince me to let him get me a soda, or ice cream(on those hot days) But then on those days when he works late nights and I'm home alone, I Binge to an EXTREME!! Like not just "Oh I shouldn't have had an extra serving of food, or that ice cream after I already had my share of calories today, I'm talking about so much till I look pregnant! Literally! If you didn't know better you'd think I was. I struggle with Bulimia, but sometimes I naturally throw up from the amounts of my binge. I think we need help. If we cannot crack down on ourselves and have some self-discipline we need someone to coach us!

I find it helps sometimes to go for a walk, just get out of the house. Away from the kitchen. But go without any cash on you, or you may be tempted to pop into a store or gas station and get that something you think/feel you're craving. Or get busy doing something you KNOW will take awhile. And keep your mind busy, so it won't think about going to the kitchen to pass time.

But your biggest problem is your low-calorie intake.  If you don't start eating more, you can't really address the strength situation.

Agreeing with the above.. I've also had/have the same problem, feeling so weak I can barely walk up a hill. But eating such a low number of calories will not help, it'll only contribute to your weakness.. So you need to up your calories so you canhave some energy, and be able to at least go that mile;)

Weight Loss How many calories, please?? Jul 01 2009

You are pretty much the exact same height and weight as me, and I'm not sure you should aim for loosing that much weight if you want to stay healthy. If you feel chucnky, or chubby (like I OFTEN do) I suggest you exersize or work out to tone your body, if you're eating healthily and exersizing, your body will balance out to be as it should be... ;)

Yep, it's the same here, it's like a plan my day according to my meals, not plan my meals according to my day.. It's like I "look forward" to eating, but then I hate overeating and stuff, and I'm always worried about overstepping my kcals...

I would also LOVE to break this pattern, but yeh you're not alone, and it is a part of an ED.
