Young Calorie Counters I Reached My Goal! Aug 11 2009

Original Post by puppyluff:

Congrats! Doesn't it just feel great? And it makes up for every one of those days when you thought you couldn't do it...because you see for the first time that  you had it in you all along =P

I wish I would've thought of that...I've only found pictures of myself a few years ago  and totally been amazed. That picture every five pounds things is a totally great idea, though.

Has anyone you know from school seen you since you lost all that weight? If they haven't, imagine all the double-takes you'll get when you head back!

Nope. No one's seen me yet except for one person and he was stunned. Laughing

This will be the fun part of going back to school this year!

Well, today was a lounging day for me so I just put on a basic blue tee from forever 21 and some random roll up jeans with old navy flip flops. :P

Wow, I just realized that now that I'm watching what I eat, I'm going to have this problem too.

Pre portioned bags of fruits (grapes, blueberries, etc.)

Bananas, apples (no apples for me though, I'm allergicLaughing)

Celery and carrot sticks (may have to forfeit the dressing due to becoming a mess. I remember taking salads with dressing to school and having a huge oozy mess in my locker)

Oh yes, and lite swiss cheese and turkey roll ups (I love these and could make a lunch out of them)

These are all simple easy things that we could take...good luck, we'll both be needing it!

At the magnet school I attend, we don't have an IB program, but every course we take has to be either honors or AP. There are no regular courses offered at my school. Next year I'll be taking three honors and three AP classes. I'm having mixed feelings about it, but have chosen not to detest junior year until I delve into it. Wink

Young Calorie Counters Weird food dreams?? Jul 14 2009

Wow. Odd this topic came up, because I was just thinking how weird it was that I dreamed I ate a Big Mac last night. I suppose I know where I got the dream idea from, I was reading the caloric content of a Big Mac vs. a Whopper vs. a Subway sandwich on one of the Subway napkins...but still, it felt good to feel like I ate something as sinful as a Big Mac and not have any of the side effects from it!

That's a good thing to keep in mind, PP.

I just realized I've had no veggies today!

I'm planning on making a really good salad for dinner now. :)

Cheese yes! (of course cheese in moderation is actually good for you, but something such as cheese...I can't resist not eating a lot!)

Other things I find hard to resist are really good chocolate, cheetos, Starbucks, and cheesecake. The only things that keep me half sane are sugar free jellos and bbq rice cakes (they remind of potato chips in a cardboard kind of way)

Talking about all my vices are making me hungry....I should go pop a rice cake. Cool

Young Calorie Counters Body shape Jul 02 2009

Ignoring the previous poster, I think that we will stay the shape we are, just have a slimmer version of that shape. I'm a huge pear shape too and as I am losing weight, I'm definitely getting slimmer, but I'm maintaining the same shape. I guess you could do some target exercises like squats or something to make them slim down faster...or would that make them tone up and get fatter? Yell

Young Calorie Counters People 5'4"-5'6" what size are you? Jun 25 2009

I'm 16.

5'4''

Right now I'm 137 pounds and I fit comfortably into a pair of size 11 juniors jeans (I am soooo pear shaped. But I kind of like it, if it was a slimmer pear shape.) They are the same jeans I wore when I was 146. I suppose they fit a lot better now.

My goal is 120 pounds and a 5-7 juniors jean size. I can't wait to get there.

Everyone calm down! Please!

I entered her goal into the BMI Calculator for children here:http://www.bcm.edu/cnrc/bodycomp/bmiz2.html.

I quote, "A 60 inch tall, 90 pound girl has a BMI of 17.6, which is at the 8th percentile for this age. Although BEING THIN FOR THIS GIRL CAN BE PERFECTLY NORMAL , the girl can be at risk of becoming underweight."

Being 17 (I'm 16), I believe us older teens have enough common sense to know our boundaries. I also know some people that are dancers and are very small but eat healthily and look healthy. Just be cautious when you are losing the weight. If you are losing and decide you are becoming too skinny, up your goal a few pounds. Don't let anyone tell you what you should weigh unless there is really something severely wrong with your goal weight. Just remember to eat at least I'd say 1800-2000 calories to lose weight if you are moderately active. I wish you luck.

When I'm thin...

I'll buy all new clothes (including non loose fitting shirts and skinny jeans) and look amazing in them!

I'll get green contacts.

I'll be more confidant to go places and do things and talk to people.

I'll get out all the time and have fun.

Thinking about all this makes me wish I was thin now. :)

You don't have that much to lose. I'm 5'4'' too and currently 141 pounds and I'd love to be 130 pounds. You don't have much to lose (my goal is 125 pounds, and I couldn't imagine myself any much skinnier). Same with you. I couldn't imagine you much skinnier. I agree with kuhristenn, 5 pounds is all you can afford to lose, and you're already on your way to losing it. If you see skinnier girls than you, they're probably not even healthy. Don't stress about it. Just keep on healthily for the time being and being active and by the end of the summer (and only at the end), weigh yourself. You'll probably be surprised you lost the 5 pounds and think that you didn't do anything to lose it. I promise you you're not fat!

Young Calorie Counters On the Right Track? Jun 07 2009
19:06 (UTC)

Thanks bucket for the advice. I'm thinking of upping the caloric intake to 1900-2000. I'm in no way NEEDING to lose this weight, but I am borderline slightly overweight and i would like to take on a new, healthier self for the next school year. So, I now understand in order to be healthy, I need to get more. I'm usually not that hungry anymore (I went through a stage right after puberty where I was ALWAYS hungry and I think that's where my weight gain came in), so I'll definitely eat things like peanut butter and hummus to get in my calories before I realize it's the end of the day and I'm still at 1200 calories. It's actually exciting to hear that I can eat things like peanut butter and hummus, because I LOVE hummus and peanut butter's really good too.

As for my weight loss goal, thanks for reassuring me that it's in a healthy range, as long as I eat more. I can do this now!

The fruit sherbet things are the Del Monte Fruit Chillers tubes. I get the strawberry ones. They are amazing.

I'll also take a look at the yogurt. I love sour cream but it's definitely something I can't eat now. Thanks! ^_^

Young Calorie Counters Nutritionist's advice not helping? Jun 04 2009
19:54 (UTC)

Having this advice coming from a nutrionist, I think she would know what she is doing. Did she tell you that what you were doing wasn't healthy? I would wait until the next time you see her and ask her to make a compromise to cut out some of the extra food in the diet she assigned to you. She is probably doing it for your health: you need proteins like peanut butter in your diet to keep your energy up. Ask her the next time you see her why and you'll feel better about eating these foods. Most of the time, quick results have unsafe reprocussions.

Young Calorie Counters Teens how many calories do you eat? Jun 02 2009

Hey everyone!

I have just started trying to lose weight again (now with summer break!).

H: 5'4''

SW: 146

CW: 143

GW: 125 (I still want my curves. :D)

So as I have just started, I am eating about 1500 Calories a day, depending on if I go out to eat or not. I have just started exercising again. I walk 2 or 3 miles at 3.5 miles per hour or play light, non competitive tennis. Once I get on a tougher exercise routine, I'll up the caloric intake to 2000-2500 Calories a day.

This is the perfect thread for me, because for once, I'm actually trying to look good before summer. I want to not be self conscious about myself when I'm in a swimsuit. I'm hoping to actually wear a bikini this year and actually swim with my friends. It will be great if I can get there...

Hey, everyone: I'm Tabitha

Age: 16

Height: 5'4.5''

Starting weight: 146-147

Weight today: 138

Weight goal: 125 (120 would be ideal, but I'll see what I look like when I get there), by June 1, 2009

Little goals: Stop yo yo dieting!

Walk 2 miles everyday until my goal, and after: keep up my exercise in the summer

Motivations: I'm hoping to be one of those "Summer butterflies" when I get back to school in August. You know- those people that leave school dorky/fat and come back beautiful. I know I have that potential.
