Hey twhitt24, I am exactly the same, I eat the same thing every single day. I also have an ED, though not anorexia. I made a thread about it and thought you might like to read the helpful comments I received, maybe they can be applied to you too? http://caloriecount.about.com/eat-same-things -ft129702 Sorry I can't be much more help because I'm in the same boat as you! |

Well I can see the OP posted this nearly a year ago and so probably came to a solution of her own. Thought I'd put in my two cents- Been on Yas for nearly 3 years. At first it was fine, my periods were lighter and my mood actually felt stabilised. But for about the past year, I cry and feel extremely depressed the week before my period, and angry at everyone and general paranoia. This goes away as soon as my period starts. It's definitely the pills. I'm considering trying a different type because I'm fed up of feeling like crap for a week, and feeling like the world's going to end. But say I do get prescribed a different batch, will my body get messed up from the change in pill?? I don't want to put it through anything that could harm it. |

Original Post by gi-jane: You're right, I'm worrying a bit too much over something that may turn out to be nothing. I spoke to my Mum on the phone earlier and she also said to just get tested. Thanks for the words of encouragement, I guess if it is the worst case scenario I'll just have to deal with it and hope my needle phobia would eventually go away. Hertfordshire eh? Nice place, been there once before, it has a really beautiful cathedral from what I remember! It's certainly not warming up down in Exeter :-( It snowed here 2 days ago! Send that Herftordshire weather over this way please |

Hey eerica, I can speak from personal experience. I too had to take one the morning after once as the condom also split but we didn't notice until afterwards... Anyway I experienced a bit of bleeding afterwards but it wasn't actually my period. I think this is just a possible side effect, as there is a huge dosage of hormones in that little pill. If your periods are normally fairly regular, I'd wait and see if it comes when it is due. And get yourself down to your GP who will give you a free pregnancy test. Better to know now than wait till it's too late. Also, maybe consider going on the Pill- it'll give you a good peace of mind in case this ever happens again. |

Thankyou for your response gi-jane. I am not overweight, I am at the low end of the healthy weight range (BMI is about 20.1). I also live in England, where the climate is VERY COLD! I hate it! OK, I will call up Mon morning and ask to see someone. I feel really scared, I will either faint or have a panic attack the moment I see a needle. I feel sick just thinking about it :/ I've thought for a while that I may have diabetes. Why would it develop though, I'm not overweight, noone in my family has it... I feel panicky, what if I do have it, I'll have to learn to inject myself every day.. I cant just faint every day. |

Thank you sweetandbrown! I don't really exercise but I do A LOT of walking, at least 2 hours a day. What you said about the dry house makes a lot of sense, and the rented house I live in is quite old and dusty (my fault for being a lazy student and not dusting the room!) so I guess that could be making me thirsty. I will think about giving the surgery a call, as you're right, I'd rather know if there was something wrong with me so more can be done to help fix it and prevent it getting worse. Wow you drink 4 litres!! That's impressive. When do you stop drinking roughly? Like an hour before you go to bed? I've tried stopping drinking about 2 hours before I go to bed but it hasn't made much of a difference in me waking up through the night needing to use the loo! Thanks again! |

Ugh I'm actually squirming in my seat as I type this... If you're going to drink Redbull, don't don't don't have the sugar free one. I read an article last year about how it gives you 'sticky blood'; "Australian researchers have found that the sugar-free version of Red Bull may increase the danger of blood clots, and creates "sticky" blood, raising the risk of heart attack or stroke." From The Independent newspaper (UK). I googled and found the article I remembered, but the article isn't very descriptive compared to the actual newspaper I remember reading. Nevertheless, this is the link: http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/healt h-and-wellbeing/health-news/red-bull-it-promi ses-energy-but--doesnt-mention-sticky-blood-8 99614.html Yes I know that the research findings are probably not statistically reliable, but the fact is that there is the chance that this risk could apply to any one of you, and I think everyone should be made aware of all precautions regarding this drink. |

Original Post by charvey_: Oh me too! I get told off by my bf for drinking too quickly, especially when we're out drinking in bars- I think he gets annoyed that he has to keep buying me drinks as I get through them so quick! I can't just leave a full glass sitting there, I'm always downing it. And when I have hot chocolate (the only hot drink I'll ever have) it doesn't even touch the table surface, I just keep sipping until it's gone! haha. I'm quite strange for food habits. I hate melted cheese, hate hate hate. I don't eat pizza; if I do have to eat it, the cheese has to be either picked off or burnt till it's black. Then i'll eat it! I love solid cheese though. But melted? No thanks! Like bringbackbeats, I also have set eating times. If the time is later than when I'd usually eat, I just think 'what's the point?' I hate it when I eat out at restaurants and my friends book the table for 8. Why!!! It takes an hour to bring the food out anyway... And by that time my hunger has passed and I don't want to eat dinner so late. I always eat between half 5 and 6. I have salad with almosy every meal, and the lettuce MUST be sgredded into tiny pieces. My housemates think I'm strange, as I stad there shredding every piece! I cant stand big leafs of lettuce when I eat. I have a bean obsession, I either eat them cold out the tin or I have them cold in a tortilla wrap with ketchup! Ketchup on toast is also yummy. I always prepare my food into sections on the plate, and place the plate down in a way that the food boundaries are horizontal-hmm that doesn't make sense but I don't know how to describe it in words. I also save the best bits of food till last, i like to leave a bit of each food and then shove it all on my fork as my last mouthful! I eat the not so yummy stuff 1st to get it out the way. I have lots of other weird rituals and certain foods that I won't eat, but I thik i've said enough for now! |

I'm a student and literally live on tinnned food! it's all i can afford! I am still really healthy and make sure I get lots of protein. However I have noticed that a lot of tinned food, especially beans, have a LOT of salt in them. So be careful when you are buying tins, always check the label. My fave thing to do is eat tinned beans, cold, straight out the can! YUM! |

Mmmm oats! I get quaker golden syrup sachets, you bung them in the mircowave for 2minutes and it's done! I make them with water (I hate milk) and it's only 136 cals for a big bowl! I always add either maple syrup or honey on top and let it melt in the oats, then add a small sprinkle of brown sugar. I have the biggest sweet tooth, so this does me well! |

sbanana7, I completely understand what you're going through. Reading your post was like reading my own thoughts. I also suffer from bulimia (for 3 years now), though I've never sought help for it out of sheer embarrassment and not wanting anyone to find out about it. Like you, I started off just wanting to lose a bit of weight- I was slightly overweight for my height, and started off sensibly, choosing healthy foods and cutting out chocolate, crisps etc. I would avoid these 'bad' foods at all costs, which is what lead to my downfall. I've forgotten when it was, but I remember one day I just snapped and allowed myself one of the foods I'd cut out of my life. It was like a switch flicked on in my head, and I realised what i'd been deprivng myself of. I binged and binged on all the junk food I could lay my hands on. Afterwards, I was horrified at myself and my bulging tummy- I couldn't breathe properly without my stomach hurting. I threw it all back up to ease the pressure, and that's what started the vicious cycle. It got so much worse when I moved away to Uni- without being under the watchful eyes of my parents, I had free reign to go out to my local shop, spend loads of money on junk, come back and eat it all in one sitting then throw it back up in the privacy of my room. I'd eat up to 10,000 calories within the space of an hour. I gained 20 pounds in 3 months despite me thinking I wouldn't put on any extra weight, which made me even more unhappy and binge-purge more and more often. I used to walk to shops really far out the way to buy food as the checkout people also recognised me and one of them made a comment once about how much I must like ice cream... It ruled my life, made me broke, unhappy, secretive and alienated from my friends, boyfriend and family. These days I binge/purge about once or twice a week (it used to be 2-3 times a day) and have cut back on the amount of food I buy. I have found that giving my credit card to my friends helps, so that i cant go out and buy binge food. I make sure I don't buy any triggering foods when I do my weekly shop. I brush my teeth straight after meals to try and banish any thoughts of eating more. I busy myself with work, assignments, catching up with friends or going for a walk. If I'm desperate for chocolate or something sugary, I'll allow myself to have a small bit then wrap it up and put it away. Obviously this doesn't always work, but it does sometimes. i hope one day that I will be free of this horrible disorder and be able to have a healthy relationship with food. I also wish this for you and all other ED sufferers. Take care.

| Foods | How do you eat your apple? | Jan 16 2009 19:08 (UTC) |

I am a massive apple fan. I only like red apples (they're sweeter) and i eat them just as they are, till there's only a very skinny core left! Sometimes I accidentally eat the pips, which really don't taste very good :-/ I know I'll get some stick for this, but I do eat a LOT of apples. I get through a bad over 1-2 day periods. Currently I eat 8 medium sized apples in one go, one after another. I save up my calories so I can do this, at night time a few hours before I go to bed. I can't ever just stop at 1 apple. I know all that sugar can't be very good for me, but it's better that i eat 8 apples than 8 chocolate bars surely!! |

| Health & Support | How do I stop binging??? | Nov 24 2008 23:15 (UTC) |

I agree, healthy binging just doesn't cut it, so you naturally just stop after a few mouthfuls! i didn't binge today and i feel great for it- i can go to bed happy and without clawing at my swollen belly crying over what a failure i am. I found that writing down the calories i ate today really helped stop me over eating, and also chewing gum distracts me from thinking about eating. now to keep this up... the longer i go without binging, the less likely i am to give in. fingers crossed for me and all you other bingers. Good luck.

Wow Katherine23, how amazing is your post?! I'm going to print off/ write down your points as i think they're genuinely really helpful. I like the idea of having a mantra, I might try the 'I'm on a water diet!' tactic. And I think I will tell my housemates if i want to binge as i know they'll be very persuasive and talk me out of it. It'll also get rid of the secrecy, which is kinda what the binging revolves around. The binging loses its appeal if other people know what you are doing. One other thing I'm going to do- give my cash card to my housemate (he's to be trusted, it's ok!) as i have no junk food in the house- i always go out and buy it when i have the binge urge. therefore, no money, no binge! thanks again for your advice! :-) |

| Health & Support | I Hate All food | Nov 15 2008 14:19 (UTC) |

unforgotten- I had this a few weeks ago. I went completely off food, the thought of it turned my stomach. I was also ill, I think this had a lot to do with it. Maybe your cold is similar to mine, and that's why you don't want to eat? Anyway, i found that my appetite just naturally came back by itself after about 2 weeks, so I wouldn't worry too much just yet. if nothing changes over the next few weeks, i'd go see a doctor. |

| Health & Support | Overcoming bulimia | Nov 15 2008 14:08 (UTC) |
|
Freakyblonde88, you sound just like me. I've had bulimia for 2 and a half years and really want to stop. I've been through phases where I can stop binging and purging, and i look so much healthier and feel so much happier for it. But then something happens, like breaking up with my long term boyfriend or not coping well with Uni work, and I slip back into bigeing on ice cream, chocolate etc and purging it all back up. I hate it because my skin goes horrible, my tummy bloats, and my neck glands swell up making me look puffy and horrible. I have gone 3 days now without binging and purging and feel so good about it. however, saturday nights are my weakness- i'll be in watching tv then going out drinking, which'll make me want to eat loads when i come back. like you, i get scared that the extra food is going to make me really overweight again, and it took so much effort to get down to my healthy weight. I agree that eating loads of veggies puts you off binging afterwards, as i don't want to throw up food that's good for me, so it acts as a deterrent. To the OP, I suggest you eat well and regularly, and think about the damage you will do to yourself if you give in to your urges. decayed teeth and heart problems just aren't worth the hassle of a 20 minute/however long pleasure binge. I also get down on myself if i go over my daily calories, even if it's only by 100, but i have found that it DOES NOT actually affect my weight at all a week later. It doesn't go up, and sometimes it even goes down. I think your body needs extra calories sometimes to surprise the metabolism and make it burn off the food better. 7 years is a long time to have had suffered, i really feel for you, but you owe it to yourself to treat your body with respect now, as we all do, and it's time you start loving yourself no matter how big you think you are. Take care, we can all beat this!xxx |

I wish i'd come back on this topic and read all this last night as i did go out and binge again. i'm so annoyed at myself, i cant afford to keep doing this! i usually have good willpower and can resist the urge to binge but it's got so cold now and i'm experiencing a lot of stressful things in my life, so i feel that food is the only thing i have complete control over. anyway, i am going to be strong now and take on board the suggestions people have made to prevent another pointless binge tonight. x |

Yep I agree with all the posts. Guilty of being an emotional eater here- last night I had a 2litre tub of ice cream and fruit cake because I felt depressed. Ugh my life is so crap at the moment and I'm so stressed out. So i just eat like a zombie, cramming it in and then feeling horrible after. i wish i could do something else when i'm sad but nothing quite distracts my mind like a big binge. sorry for the rant but i need to vent. i wish my life was a bit easier right now but i'm just drowning under pressure and resposibilities. i don't want to crack again tonight but i can see myself going to the shop and buying loads of junk food and repeating last night again. please someone talk me out of it. |
