| Weight Loss | has anyone tried to CABBAGE SOUP DIET??? Supposedly able to loose 10-17lbs in 7 days!!! | Jan 29 2007 20:10 (UTC) |

| I love the cabbage soup and do make it sometimes but do not use diets that promote eating too much of one food. This weight loss adventure is not a diet for me, but a lifestyle change and so the restrictive diets seem to defeat my purpose because they are not good to stay on.
It's moderation in all foods that I strive for. But the recipe it great and the soup is wonderful. |

| anyone interested in a good writing site, here is the link: http://allpoetry.com/
It is very helpful and most of the people are very friendly and encouraging. The owner also has a few other sites, for stories, old poetry, ect. You will find the links to the other sites at the bottom of the pages. It is one of my fav. sites and I've learned a great deal from various people there. They provide resources and info also. The site is free but there are also varying degrees of membership. Thought I would share it. Some here may like to check it out. |

| Stuck too at a darn plateau. I am at 158 and have been for some time. I seem to hit a rut every other month or so and this time it seems I cannot break it.
So will probably be in this club for a good while. Cravings are hard this week. |

| Thank you so much for replying! Yes, I have tried this. In fact, I do it every time I get in a rut. Eventually, I do move on to the next phase, but it is painfully slow and the stuck times drag on.
I am walking two hours a day, six days a week and rarely break that pattern. I eat at a healthy cal intake and zig zag every other month or so. I wonder if the ruts are just bumps in the road that I have to deal with. |

| 1000 cals is too low.
I know the feeling of wanting to make up for a binge by lowering the cals too much. But it is not healthy and the best thing to do now is just climb back up the hill at a healthy pace. I know it is discouraging, but we all fall off at times and we need to forgive ourselves and not try too hard to make up for it. Just get back on your healthy program--it is the best thing you can do. |

| Thanks for posting this! I absolutely hate the 4th of july. I spend all night comforting my dogs while idiots and their fireworks blast the night away. I lost my irish setter on the 4th due to a stomach illness that I mistook for her usual panic over fireworks which makes me hate the day even more. I wish people would find displays to go to instead of exploding the crap in the streets. It is good that you posted this and I hope people take the advice. | |||

| I have this problem. I was surprised to find this post and see that I am not alone. :) I have no solution to offer and I will be interested to see if you get any suggestions. I eat tons of veggies and I know what you mean about not wanting to take a pill every day. Sorry I am no help. | |||

| I saw this and was amazed too. The fact is, there is no real cal difference and the reg. is really more healthy otherwise. I would use up the reduced but buy the reg. from now on. That's what I decided to do. Disappointing, isn't it? Their label of 'reduced' is rather deceiving. | |||

| Foods | Portions are so small!! | Jun 05 2006 17:55 (UTC) |

| You're right, it is quite an adjustment--especially in the beginning. But I have found that these smaller portions make me enjoy what I'm eating more. After a time of being consistent with it I've noticed that I actually taste my food and savor it, then feel more satisfied. At first it seems like a difficult thing but after a time it is much easier. At least it has been for me. | |||

| I cannot imagine that adding milk would do anything to aid or prevent coffee from being bad for you. If it is, then I am sunk because it is my last vice and I would be unlikely to ever give it up. I was surprised to see that coffee has cals....I didn't think it did if it was black, no cream or sugar. But I enjoy my coffee. | |||

| Fitness | activity level - can someone answer something for me? | Jun 03 2006 20:51 (UTC) |
|
| What I do is put myself at 'light act.' and then I add all exercises and major activities individually each day. That way I have a better idea of how many cals I actually did burn. I walk two hours a day most days. My account page then gives me a total of 'light activity' plus all additional activities and shows how many cals. I burned all together. I got confused too trying to figure out what to label myself...I am really more 'moderate' but I want each activity counted for a closer to accurate idea. Hope that helps. | |||
| Weight Loss | How many lbs is a size 14/13? | Jun 01 2006 16:12 (UTC) |

| Thanks to everyone who replied to my question. Wow, there is a vast range here and I guess no pat answer to my question even in general terms. I am 5'5 and 167 lbs and did find that I can get into the size 14s though they are a bit tight. Still, it was encouraging to get them zipped.
The size to weight thing must be figured by many other added factors as well as height, like bone structure and build. I just did not know it varied so very much. In any case, thanks for this info and support. |

| I am with ob on this--except that I do offer info on the site before anyone asks. I am fairly vocal about how good I feel right now, maybe to an irratating degree and this site is invaluable to me. If someone asks how I am managing to lose and keep track of all my foods and such I am a dam that bursts...like a commercial for the site. It is the most positive tool in my weight loss (aside from God) as I receive absolutely no help or encouragement from those in my life except for my dear sister who supports me. Everyone else seems to be very put off or even angry about my loss. So the site gets my plugs every time I get a chance. | |||

| Yes, the calcium I take has vit. D added. I also take a multi vit. I started this a little after I started the eating and excerise changes and I feel much more energetic. I also take an asprin every day too. | |||
| Weight Loss | more calories less weight? true or false? | May 24 2006 23:25 (UTC) |

| I was in the same fix you are for nearly a month and after upping my cals I broke the rut I was in and lost. I upped it from 1200 to 1350/1400--with one day week at 1500 or even a bit more. This brought me into a losing streak and I started dropping the lbs again. I can tell you from experience that going that low on the cals is not good. I was getting very tired, cold and felt just plain crappy as well as not even losing weight. But even if you do not feel poorly, it is not doing you any good to be so low. I started on vitamins and calcium too which I know helped. Wishing you good luck! | |||

| Walking is my solitary time with God. I listen to music, meditate and have time to myself so the walking is really something I look forward to and do not have to force myself to do it at all. There are trails and paths here and it is an adventure to explore and walk. I do 90 mins five days a week of rapid walking. I do other exercise such as lifting on my job. No choice there, so it is really no so hard to be motivated that way. | |||
