| The Lounge | I ratted my boss out to HR | Jul 09 2009 21:27 (UTC) |

I worked at a youth helpline and had a boss like that. Sadly, our board of directors was not as on-the-ball as your HR department. I had to leave my job because I could no longer stomach his un-ethical behaviour when we were supposed to help people. After I quit I made darn sure to tell the board it was because of him, and that they'd ignored me too long, and that the rest of the staff were sure to follow soon. Two weeks later the boss "resigned". The organization is in much better hands now, and so are the young people we work for. Miss my job sometimes but so glad I did it. |

"Insatiable" - Darren Hayes Or anything else he sings. including a wonderful cover of Britney's Gimme More. (No one knows who he is. He was the lead singer of Savage Garden and has since released several AMAZING solo albums he gets no recognition for, in North America at least) Speaking of Britney, "Touch Of My Hand". |

LOL just got a call from the vet. Dog won't eat and hates his kennel so they're gonna let me take him home today. My dog is on a hunger strike to get home, the little brilliant angel! 3.5 hours until I'm off work and can go get him! |

Oh man, bad news guys. My dog is gonna pee like a girl for the rest of his life. They had to cut a new hole. The surgery was 2.5 hrs and contained many complications because 3 of the stones were stuck in his urethra and would not be pushed back. He's okay, but I may not get him back today. The vet called yesterday and said "I'm just glad it's over." Apparently he had to call in back-up. The bill sucks and I miss my dog. :( |

He's having surgery today around 2. It's currently 8, and I've just noticed his penis is like...splittling open at the tip? It's like one of the dtones is trying to get out but can't. The vet was going to call back and confirm, so I'll need to mention this. Baby does not look happy right now, but still kisses my hand when I sit with him. <3 |

On the bright side, our vet is pretty cool. He's really sweet and gentle. I went with my sis and I'm 22 and she's 18, but people always think we're much younger and my mom usually brings him to the vet. So I bet they assumed we were children, but the vet didn't talk down to us. He made v. sure we understood the situation well, told us exactly what he had done and what that meant, gave us a cost estimate, and told us he'd personally call tomorrow to check in despite the holiday. He was also v. descriptive. My dog will never live the Smidgen 'Crunchy Penis' nickname down. |

The vet tried the massage-the-penis thing. He showed us the x-ray and all 4 are pretty big. It's pretty clearly surgical, sadly. Maybe if i'd caught it sooner...
The weird thing is he doesn't seem to be in any pain right now. The vet did give us an anti-inflammatory so maybe that's kicked in, and he can still pee a little. As long as he can still get some out the vet said we can wait until Thursday, if not we can do an emergency surgery at an astronomical price. I'm staying with him at all times, but as long as he seems relatively normal but for the peeing (he's eating, drinking, playing, licking my face just fine nad had a pretty decent pee this morning) we'll try to hold off until the holiday's over. |

Update:
He has 4 bladder stones. 2 right in his wee-wee blocking the urine. He needs urgent surgery. Given that tomorrow is Canada Day and a holiday, Thursday or Friday is it. We just need to watch him closely to make sure he's okay until then. I'll miss two days of work and have no way of clearing it with my boss first, need to find some way to get us to the vet 'cause my mom is out of town and I don't drive, and it'll cost me a grand but he'll be okay and that's what matters. That goodness he made his little urine-feces abstract art to get our attention! |

Thanks guys, for all the kind words. I don't think it was anything he ate. His bladder has changed the past few weeks; he was going more often and the stream was weaker and it was taking him longer. I thought it was old age, honestly. But this morning was crazy. There was this poop and then, in like some kind of crop circle pattern around it over 20 different little wet spots. I'm hoping it's just a simple bladder infection they can medicate. They'll charge a fortune to check him out of course, but worth it! |

yeah, and that's the earliest appointment they have. He seemed okay in the morning (other than needing to pee and guilt over the mess) and my little sister is home with him now. I'm also anxious 'cause I'm not usually the one who takes him to the vet. |

It sounds like you're working hard to do this the right way now, congrats! Something seems to be getting in the way. I noticed you said the nutritionist you saw was drastic....maybe see someone else? Someone you can work with on a regular basis and who will help you figure out this mystery in a supportive way. There is no one-size-fits-all program. The most important thing is to be proud of how hard you're working, even if the results aren't exactly what you want. You're doing well to think first and foremost about being healthy, and give yourself some credit for it. That's the most important part and now you just have to patient and creative in your strategies. |

| Weight Loss | Why most Japanese girls slim???? | May 25 2009 16:24 (UTC) |

I've always heard portion control. We do know that in North America at least, portion sizes are WAY too large. So if the Japanese (or the French, I've heard too) eat smaller portions they can afford to snack between meals. Typically Japanese foods are healthier, too. |

Is he jealous maybe? Or, in the second case, maybe trying to get your mom to lose too? I dunno, but it's too bad his comments and oogling make you uncomfortable. |

There's nothing out of control about growing at 16. Keep eating at a healthy level and things will stabilize; you've probably freaked your body out a bit by under eating. Good for you for trying to be healthy now. Make sure you do your research; eating well as a vegan is tough. |

| Weight Loss | scared - out of control weight gain :( please answer my questions!! | Mar 16 2009 21:36 (UTC) |

Your metabolism should recover with time but you do need to keep eating a healthy amount, and healthy foods. In the meantime, be patient. I don't know your height so I'm not sure if you're overweight now or by how much, but as you're so young it's really best not to diet. Just try to make healthy choices and get some activity. Your body is still growing and changing. I know it's hard to see yourself look different, our culture is impossibly hard on young women, but try to put it out of your mind and focus on the long term. Once your metabolism has returned to normal and you've stopped growing you can consider dieting if you need to, but not now. See your doctor if you're really concerned, and good luck. :) |

| Weight Loss | Gaining weight for no reason, trying to lose it! | Mar 11 2009 14:09 (UTC) |

You're still growing and your body is changing, which could lead to a bit of weight gain. Don't undereat at this point, it could hurt your growth and your metabolism. And your goal weight is too low in any case. Stop looking at the scale. If you're worried about your health try making sure you eat lots of nutritious food and get tons of calcium. I know the mysterious gain might seem freaky, but it's normal! Is there any chance you're even getting taller too? |

You make money selling fruit and shells and fish and bugs. You can also dig up fossils and stuff and seel that to Tom Nook. You need to exchange friend codes in order to visit people. That's why I'm here! The thing about AC is that it happens in real time and it's supposed to be really calm and free. There are no real goals like in most games. You just want to get your house the way you like, improve your town, make frends. |

My bf does the exact same thing because he eats horribly and my new healthy lifestyle makes him feel guilty. Thus he tries (unconsciously) to bring me down to his level. We had a heart-to-heart and he's been doing better though. Edit: Though after reading the whole thread, I'm with ladieknight. You're too young from that crap. Get out asap. |
