I haven't posted for awhile again...but I did get caught up with all the posts. Yes- we are all busy, thats for sure. Yoga - you and I are in the same boat, same stats and same goals. I think I said before how my drivers license says 175 - and would love to really be there. Enjoy the cookie bake! I haven't been walking - it has been so cold and dark. I like to listen to audio books on my ipod - and walking in the dark with earphones in just seems foolish, but I'm spoiled by having the audio book, and I get so bored with out it. I have a membership to Contours - which I enjoy - but going after work cuts out time to go over homework, dinner etc... All excuses I know, but hard to work around never the less. I keep flirting with 200 lbs, with todays weigh in at 197. Which is up a lb. |

I agree. I would love to be 160, but I remember being there and still wanting to lose weight which seems silly now. However, I was not athletic and I think that makes a big difference in how people carry the weight, given muscle ratio and overall body size. As much as the 140s sounds enticing, my normal BMI starts at 169, and that sounds pretty good too. |

Hi All - I haven't posted for awhile, but have been keeping up on the thread. Everyone sounds great. I'm down a pound this week - so I'm happy. Its a slow grind, but anytime the scale goes down I'm thankful. I've been walking each morning and noticed I need to increase my distance because I'm starting to finish the walk too fast. My dog loves me more now too! Thanksgiving day doesn't usually give me too much trouble - I try to stay busy visiting, cooking etc. But the next day WATCH OUT!! Its the left overs that get me! I avoid the stores on the day after Thanksgiving - even though that could be considered a sporting event - so I'll need to stay active and out of the kitchen another way. Okiewoman - you are still my hero. 130's? wow! I think I was in the 130's briefly - when I was first married. On our honeymoon I bought this great little black dress size 8 that fit me that night out only. I swear the next day it was already too tight. But I still have it, you never know..... Have a great holiday girls! |

carolally - stick with it girl! you'll get in that dress!! I know what you mean about that sucky feeling. I desperatly need some new slacks for work, but I hate to shop, and I'm terrified I'd be in 18s. 16s were hard enough to buy, but I just can't go up another size. I saw 8, 10, 12 and 14 go by - I'm holding at 16, and eager to get back to a 12! My slacks just have to hold out a while longer... I did my walk, and haven't blown my calories today - looking good so far! genesis22 - hope all goes well for you today! Take it easy and spend your energy on recovery. |

yoga44 - I'll take you up on that book reccomendation. I enjoy Barabara Kingslover.. Also noted some similarities between you and I - age, same weight range, and as a UCSC alum, similar stompin' grounds! Congratulations on being down a size - thats great! I'm working hard on drinking more water, did a 45 min walk this morning, and a 60 min one on the weekend. I've got my fingers crossed for a good weigh in this week. |

Okiewoman - are you ready something great? I'm always on the prowl for my next read. Danielle - great marathon pic. I like you weekend goals. It is easy to fall off track for me too on the weekends. Time to stay focused! |

Okiewoman - thanks again. You're right! I'm a lazy food tracker - thats why WW always peters out for me. I have great computer access at work, but not at home. So I'm ok durring the day, but lose it at night. It is all in the planning - so that is what I'm going to work on this weekend. I did take a 45 min walk this AM, and have plans for another with my son after work. Just reading all the posts, and checking in on everyones progress is helping. Thanks! |

1st of all congratulations to Danielle on your marathon. What a great accomplishment! This has been a tough week - starting with car problems (throw more $ down the drain..), PMS, and other assorted trials. And today at work - the office ordered pizza. Ugh! my biggest temptation. I had two small slices at approx 320 cal each - and could easily eat at least 3 more. So far I am behaving myself... I know I'm not really hungary anymore - I just want it. There has also been a lot of Halloween candy around - everyone brings it in so they won't eat it at home - great... It is so easy for me to be derailed, to fall off the "plan". To say "Oh well, I'll make up for it with exercise", then I don't do it. This is why I have continued to slowly gain this weight. I know I'm at the threshold of my tolerance - my own personal line in the sand - but I'm still making the same excuses. I have a hard time flipping the mental switch. I feel pretty succesfull/happy in all other areas of my life - marrage, family, work etc - but a failure at weight loss. So many mornings started with the best plan, and so many evenings ending in a drive-thru. Ok - I actually feel better now that I whined

Genesis - Iwas 185 for both my pregnancies, went up to the low 200's, and was down to185 again pretty quick. But I could NEVER get below that, even with breast feeding both boys. Neither one of my boys have every seen me in a bikini, and the first time one of them saw someone in a bikini (he was 3 or so) he said "Mama we're not supposed to wear our unders in the pool..." I thought I better get some weight off and get back in a bikini SOON! I felt great pregnant in the 180's though, and you'll get back there! Nothing like a baby to motivate!! Lindsayanne - I just wanted to mention something I remember from a WW meeting. They leader said "No matter what you weigh now, you are already somebodies goal weight". You are one of my goal weights - my drivers license says 175, and I'd really like to actually weigh that one of these days! |

Okiewoman - yep, more water. I know I don't drink enough. Several years ago I switched from regular soda to diet. I thought I'd see a big difference. Maybe there was, but I obvioulsy replaced the calories with something else! I need to stop the diet soda, and just drink more water... Thanks for the help. Genesis - I do the same thing. My mental image of myself if kinda like a highlight reel - images of me a my best. If I catch my image in a window its like WOW I'm that big?! On one hand I think its kinda healthy we have that image, on the other it keeps me from being as motivated as I should be. Oh yeah - its Friday... SW 199 CW 197 GW 165 Happy Halloween Girls! |

Thanks Okiewoman! I do appreciate the encouragment. Congratulations on your achievement!! Weight loss is always a struggle, but after 40 it really is harder I think. I was 185 for a long time - many years - then 40 hits, and BAM - here comes 15 more pounds! I was kinda complacent at 185, not really happy with my weight, but I didn't let it bug me too much. I'm healthy and active. But that last 15 lbs really changed how I felt, and looked. It all went to my belly and back - eww. So if you don't mind me asking...any advice? Calories in and calories out of course, but anything that seemed to really help with your fabulous accomplishment? |

Hi there - I'm new to CC. I was roaming around the internet and stumbled onto this thread. I love that this is a forum especially for tall women! I am 5'10' and currently 199. I have gained weight slowly but surely from the day I was married until now. 16 years ago I was 140. Not that I wouldn't love to be 140 again, I am being realistic that 2 kids and being 41 years old changes things a bit. I would love to be anywhere in the 160's, and hope that with some more dedication on my end - and some help from this group - I can get there! |
