| Fitness | Working out 3x a week and clothing seems tighter?? | Feb 06 2009 01:52 (UTC) |

I find that when my weight loss leveled off, what got me dropping the pounds again was to mix up my workout routine. Your body will become accustomed to the same workout day after day, week after week, so give your body a little 'shock' and mix it up! Since weight loss is about burning more calories than you consume, try upping the cardio component to your routine. Personally I do a lot more cardio than weight training. Running or walking is great for the legs, swimming is a great all-around workout. I use weight training as a supplement to make sure that I'm losing fat, not muscle, and for general strengthening. As you gain more muscle through weight training, you may see an increase in weight due to muscles weighing twice as much as fat. That wouldn't explain the tighter clothes though. Diet is also something to consider. I'm not calling you a liar, but often people forget the little snacks and drinks that can really add on the calories. If that's not the case, perhaps you're eating foods that are higher in sodium, or foods that cause you to retain water. Last thing I can think of: Are your clothes shrinking? Good luck, and don't give up! |

What is your average daily calorie consumption? How many calories are in your cheat meal? If you want to speed up your weight loss, there may be some healthy ways to do it simply by modifying your diet and/or workout routine. For starters I'd suggest eating a better (and bigger) breakfast. Your body needs energy to start the day, and it looks like you're not giving yourself enough fuel. If you can provide more details, I'm sure you'll get some great advice! |

Also keep in mind that some exercises work multiple muscle groups. For example, many chest and back exercises also work out your shoulders, biceps, and triceps. Like suggested above, try splitting up your routine. For example, M/W/F I do chest, back, and abs. Tu/Th/Sa I do arms and shoulders. |

| Motivation | Why can't I stop bingeing?! | Nov 12 2008 01:23 (UTC) |

What are you binging on, exactly? Fast food, sweets, potato chips? If you're binging on a particular group of food, try to include some small amounts of it into your regular diet. Many people find that if they cut something completely out of their diet, the cravings only intensify, leading to a binge. You could also find healthier things to fill up on when you're feeling especially crazy for food, or try drinking a large glass of water to help fill the void. Try to stock up on healthier alternatives instead of junk food. Good luck! |

You could also try adding some different exercises to your routine. Sometimes we need to shake up what we've been doing if our body becomes used to a constant routine. Good luck! |

| Weight Loss | calorie incrase on days i workout??? | Nov 06 2008 23:05 (UTC) |

I ususally have a light snack before my workout (weights and running), something that won't upset my stomach and will give me energy during the workout, like peanut butter, a banana, or some dried fruit. Since you still have to eat dinner sometime after your workout, just swap some calories from your dinner to your pre and post workout snack. You should eat something within 30-45 mins of your workout, as your body needs to recover from the exercise. |

| Foods | How often do you eat sweets? | Nov 03 2008 04:54 (UTC) |

I probably don't have sweets every day, but almost every day! The key for me is to watch how much and when. Take chocolate for example, these days you can buy mini or snack sized portions, which can help cut down on how much you eat at one time. Over time you might find that your cravings decrease too. I used to eat ice cream almost every day, but now I might have 1 snack sized ice cream every week or so. If I had a large container of ice cream sitting in my freezer I'd probably attack it every evening, so I stopped buying it. There's also many alternatives to traditional sweets, so you may want to look into those as well. |
