Weight Loss stomach and stretch marks after losing Apr 07 2009

The first time I lost 60 pounds, I did it over the span of a year and plateau-ed quite a bit. This was a blessing in disguise for me since it meant my skin had time to firm up before each amount of weight I lost. With that said, I was younger when I lost, so my skin could have been more elastic then, AND I also didn't get to my goal weight, so I never had the chance to see how much my skin really had potential to bounce back.

The answer to this question will differ from person to person. In the same way that one woman will have a beautiful stretch mark free baby-belly, while the next will have large red stretch marks that stick for life. It differs depending on skin elasticity, age, amount you have to lose, speed of loss, amount of weight training you do, and any lotions you might be using. I hear vitamin E is good for it, but then I also hear that simply moisturizing is good enough.

Weight Loss South Beach or Weight Watchers? Apr 07 2009

Thanks all for the input! I actually decided this morning to mesh South Beach and WW together. This way the food that fills up my points are healthier, and I get the benefits of good carbs versus bad carbs.

I understand where everyone is coming from when they say that any diet will work so long as the calories burned are greater than those taken in. However, I want to lose the healthiest way possible, and I thought South beach's system to be based off of healthy principles (Phase 2 and phase 3). I know a day will come when I have to eat and get by without the aid of a diet, but with 70 pounds to lose, and having tried calorie counting before, I felt the need to try something different in hopes that it would stick and burn all of this unhealthy weight off before I have to face heart disease, cancer, diabetes, etc.

Thanks again everyone!

Sooo, I just added those of you who said you didn't mind as friends (bigfatarmsbegone, sinev, nobackwardsglances) The more motivational support, the better! Just a question.. what are you all doing to lose weight? Just calorie counting, or exercising, etc? And good idea on the only weighing yourself once a week nobackwardglances... If only I could stick to it!

BTW my name is Amie Smile Nice to meet you all

Realistically, the best way for you to do it is the healthy way. If not, the 15-25 will be back on again in no time. I've been there, done that... lost a lot of weight in a very unhealthy way. Of course I gained it all back, and now I no longer fit into all of my clothing and am also wearing only sweats :P

However urgent it might feel that you need to lose the weight by summer, the fact of the matter is that long term weight loss and maintenance is what you should be worrying about...otherwise you'll be doomed to a life of yoyo dieting. Right now, I would love love love to be able to fit into all of my cute summer clothing by summertime, but I understand it is unrealistic and unhealthy. Best you can do is eat right and exercise like you did before! Hope this help

Sorry I haven't been posting more on here, it's exam time for us university kidsFrown

However, It's good to see everyone is doing well, and welcome to the newcomers! I may not post much, but I do gain support through knowing that there are other people like me trying to put a stop to binging.

I'm still binge free Laughing Which will have me at the 2 week mark tomorrow, so needless to say I am pretty proud of myself/all of us right now!

Love the idea runningbuns! I'm a competitive person, so I know setting a time frame like that should be enough to motivate me into sticking to it. I'm from Canada, so I wasn't tempted by thanksgiving this weekend, but I did fall a bit off track. No binging though, just a bit of unhealthier food choices.

want2bhappy2: Try to keep a positive outlook, its alot easier to succeed that way. We are all capable of changing our lives and controlling our binging, its just a matter of whether or not you can focus yourself enough to stick to it... or when you fall off the bandwagon, to not kick yourself too hard and manage to jump back on before things get out of control. You can do it :)

Thank you all for the warm welcome to this forum, and its good to see everyone is doing well, (Congrats voixdesprit and ohohcherri for continuing to be binge free!)

I binged last night, bringing my new date to Nov 21 :(  My problem is with alcohol. Whenever I have a few drinks with friends, the appetizers I successfully ignored while sober seem to be irresistable, and so I eat without the thought of the consequences.

But you are very right, foreverhis1, today is a new day! I don't need to dwell on past slip ups, and the only thing I can possibly do now, is to prevent future ones.

I especially like the idea of having a cheat day (In moderation), I had never thought of this before! It sounds like a perfect way to make myself think that I'm not being so strict on myself, and an awesome way to nip full out binges in the butt.

Have a great weekend, everyone! Smile

I want in on this, if possible! Binging is my downfall :(

I have been sick for the past week, and eating too much hasn't really been an issue, so my start date is 11-19-08 (6 days, woohoo!) Hopefully my getting over the flu won't trigger a return to binging.

We CAN do this!

Hello all!

I'm relatively new to this site, and am very happy to see a forum containing people with the same goal as me! (Makes it seem more attainable)

Here are my stats:

SW: 232.2

CW: 227.2

GW: 150

In the past 3 weeks of being on calorie count, I've managed to lose 5 pounds, so I'm very excited! I've calorie counted before (not through this site) and managed to get down to my lowest weight of 180, but then regained it once my life became very stressful. I've been trying to jump back on that bandwagon for the past year now, so I'm glad to see that my weight is finally going in the direction I want it to.

Also, congrats to all who've managed to stick to their goal of losing so much weight, it is really quite inspiring to people just embarking on their journey to do so as well. Smile

I'm able to fit it into my schedule because I work at my campus gym 5 out of the 7 days in a week! However, its still possible to manage going to the gym if you aren't there all the time. Try investing in a locker at your gym, and keep things like your workout clothes, a towel, shampoo and conditioner in there... and that way when you have an hour break in between classes, or in between work and classes, go to the gym and work out for a bit. I'm all about convenience, and sleeping in...and this generally satisfies both Tongue out
