Regarding the run, here's two points I have to make. 1. You want a good, varied run program. I don't know what the Navy uses for their PT test, but I figure it's either a 1.5 or a 2 mile timed standard. So one of your goals should be to pass that with a cushion of at least 30 seconds. But keep running longer distances, do some sprint-jog intervals, etc. It'll take a while and it'll suck, but your cardiovascular system will get used to the strain. Before I joined the service, I had never ran a mile in my life. Now my resting pulse is around 50~55. 2. To lose weight and actual mass, you want to keep your heartrate around 120-135 BPM. This allows you to run longer, and continually burn energy (and eventually pure body fat.) Try to find a workout buddy who focuses on that instead of pure cardio improvement, as the latter may just disenhearten you when you're not losing weight and your run time is not improving. Also, if you have the time, spend a day or two a week just biking at moderate effort for hours. Eat buns during that time, they're relatively healthy, good energy yield, and portable. It'll wittle you down in no time. |

It could be an inflamed lymph node. Your body's trash system could be clogged, and that could cause the pain. Is it tender? |

Always, everything. Aside of condiments, as long as they're the no-fat kind under 100 calories. That's just because I like to keep track of everything I eat, so I can maximize fat loss and later on build muscle without adding too much fat back on.
However, for healthy living, you can quit measuring once you know the appropriate portion size for everything you use. |

No one runs a perfect diet, or even a perfect life-style when it comes to eating. I'll admit that some days I just say the hell with it and have an off day. Sure, it hurts my self-respect.
But here's the trick: Just get back on it again. Stick to your food regimen as if nothing happened, and you'll be okay. You can't uneat those 1200 calories, but if your calorie plan has you consuming less every day than you burn over a period of time, you will still end up with net loss. Which is the goal. |

Here's a good one: What temperature is your water, usually? If you drink ice cold water, it's going to go right through you. Same with hot water. (This applies to teas and coffe as well.)
I drink a lot of water, I actually drink constantly. It became a habit when I was in a hot enviornment and frequently doing exhausting things. Don't wait to drink until you're thirsty, because you're body actually needs water by that point. Preempt dehydration by drinking regularly. |

How often should you eat during the day?
It is neither necessary to eat every two hours nor to stop eating at 6:00 PM. As long as your calorie intake is less than your output... Read more
