Cook with oil, eat lots of high-fat foods (nuts, avocado, cheese), avoid having things "dry" (add mayo to sandwiches, butter to pasta, etc), drink your calories -- smoothies/milkshakes, milk, juice, they are often less filling. |

What is your weight? If you're underweight it will take less to maintain. Also, are you underestimating your calories? I thought I maintained on like 2300 for I while, but then I realized I still had my weight-gain habit of not counting those licks of peanut butter or ice cream I had... they added up to several tablespoons... now I know I maintain at 2500-3000. |

Just wanted to add that if you try to maintain that weight you might stunt your growth. Many teens need to grow wider before they grow tall, so if your body feels hungry, feed it. |

The saturated fat from coconut oil in the movie popcorn isn't actually bad. Coconut oil has been shown to have many health benefits. So while the calories and fat in that movie popcorn might be high, the saturated fat isn't comparable to that of a rack of ribs, or dairy, ect. |

I eat 35% + fat (I'm a peanut butter fiend) and I'm maintaining. It doesn't really make a difference. I'm not sure about the saturated fat intake, but there was a thread about it recently here: http://caloriecount.about.com/saturated-fat-o verload-ft152591 |

B: Bagel, cream cheese 360 L: Half a turkey sandwich, 0% blueberry yogurt, apple 300 S: Kashi bar 150 S: 3 T PB, 2 servings wheat thins 500 D: Flat out wrap w/ turkey & veg, chicken noodle soup, cheddar cheese 550 S: 2 servings triscuits, 4 T PB, Ice cream, Zucchini bread, 1% milk 900 Total = 2710 I tried to measure accurately today, because I'd always kind of just estimated my portions so I wanted to make sure I wasn't overestimating. This looks like a good amount for my activity I think (I go on the exercise bike for 15-25 minutes every night). Wow I must be addicted to peanut butter... 7 tablespoons in a day XD and this is what I have everyday... Is it bad to have to have this much? |

1. Butter sandwiches... I used to hate traditional holiday foods (turkey, mashed taters, salad, stuffing! :o ) so I had a couple of these with milk & juice instead! 2. Peanut butter and honey sandwiches 3. Ketchup & mustard sandwiches... I used to hate hotdogs so I had these at BBQ's 4. Chocolate milkshakes 5. HUGE plates of nachos & cheese for movie nights 6. "Grouchy" sandwiches, lol when I was a kid & couldn't talk right yet I pronounced 'grilled cheese' as grouchy. I also always ordered this or pizza at restaurants, I was a picky child :P |

| Weight Gain | How can you know how much your eating without counting calories? Advice really needed please | Nov 05 2009 03:49 (UTC) |
10 |
If you really want to get rid of obsessive calorie-counting, just make sure you have 6 good-sized meals/snacks a day, and use calorie-dense foods liberally -- e.g. oil, peanut butter, cheese. If you don't gain the first few weeks then just add more. However if you don't trsut yourself to eat at least 2500 then don't do this. |

Don't worry, this is completely normal. On my first week of gaining I gained 3 pounds at 2500. However after my metabolism speeded up I was gaining a pound a week at 3500. It just takes some time for your metabolism to adjust to your higher intake. It could also be water weight, fluctuations, food weight. Personally, my weight varies by 3 pounds from day to day. |

It looks very healthy -- good slow-burning carbs, protein, and a serving of fruit... if you find your oatmeal plain, try mixing the peanut butter in, and maybe part of the apple, tastes great :) |
