Weight Loss I'm gaining weight Dec 18 2008

This also happens to me.  You should just stick to what you were doing and not worry so much about the exercise.  I also gain weight and inches, my stomach puffs out as much as an extra inch or two especially when I do cardio. So if just the diet thing works, stick to that. Sometimes I think people push the exercise thing a little too much.  Getting thin is 90% diet and 10% exercise.  I'm sure that comment will cause an up roar!Laughing Exercise is great for your heart but I don't know how great it is for your diet!!

Also, tuna, egg whites, and turkey, all proteins are good for you and you should eat fruit also.

Hi lorawilson1:

I am also a chip addict.  I love all kinds and yes I can eat an entire bag all at once. Actually I've eaten two large bags in one sitting. LOL.  So gross yet oh so yummy.  So what I have done to beat this is I just don't buy them.  Its as simple as that.  It does take some time but I don't feel as crazy now when I am around them. ( took a couple of months )  When you grocery shop, stay away from that isle, that helps me also.  Good luck.

Wow, I hope you have a wonderful time, if your worried about over eating, try filling up on soup or salad first and then you might not eat as much of the bad stuff.  But you should really just enjoy yourself and get back at it when you return, its not every day that you get to go on a cruise.

Motivation Feeling Defeated! Dec 08 2008

ya, I'm the same, a little older then you guys but pretty much the same stats.  Sometimes I think that working out is the culprit in all this dieting stuff.  In the past I could lose weight by counting calories and not working out. But I gain it all back.  So this time I thought I would try the healthy way, by exercising and counting my calories not as much,  I eat healthy foods only and have not shed one pound or an inch. I also feel like I want to throw in the towel, but I keep thinking that one of these days it will start coming off.  I have read alot of posts about frustrated women who have started working out only to find that it dosen't help them lose the weight.  I just don't get it.  Anyways good luck and keep trying!!!

Weight Loss Don't click on those "Acai Berry" free trial ads...it's a scam! Dec 05 2008

Hi glttr7,

I did the same thing a couple of months ago, I used my visa!  When I saw that they had charged me the 80 bucks I got on the phone and gave them hell.  The woman was pretty good with me but I had to send back my free sample, which tasted like " you know what "Frown They refunded me my money but had to pay for shipping the free sample back. So I ended up being out ten bucks. I missed the fine print where I had signed up to be charged every month for my next monthy supply, before I even received it, actually I had just received my free sample only days before.  But anyways be firm and make sure they know you have cancelled.  Best of Luck and remember if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.

Weight Loss I'm stuck! Dec 04 2008

It sounds like you need to eat more not less to boast your metabolism again.  Maybe have a cheat day twice a week and see if that helps.  Don't go overboard but maybe 200-300 calories more.  I've been told that your body will stop losing when it feels its not getting enough. So it holds on to everything you do give it. Hope this helps.Laughing Your certainly working out hard enough to have a few extra calories.

I don't drink after dinner ( eat around sixish ) I don't take any medications.  I have had blood tests and no sugar problems there.  No bladder infections either, everything is in good shape.  I wonder about what you said about the stress thing.  I am a stressful person.  I never thought of that at all.  I'm not the best sleeper so maybe that is what it is.  I don't feel like I drink excessively, I don't even drink the required 8- to 10 glasses of water  a day.  Maybe half that.  Thanks for your help.

Weight Loss Problematic Late Night Eating Dec 02 2008
18:27 (UTC)

Hi true-lue, and everybody else on here.  I used to have this problem also, for me it was a big bags of chips or doritos and most anything else I could shove in. I can eat a lot of food in the evening watching t.v. Embarassed I started eating higher calories during the day and its magically disappeared.  I was in shock at first, and my hubby couldn't believe it either.  I eat about 1500 cals a day ( different for everyone )  I divide it out into five three hundred calorie meals.  I try to stay away from process carbs, ( sugary stuff ) but I pretty much eat what I want.  Don't get me wrong I still get a little hungry but now an apple or an orange will take care of that, or even a diet pop.  Its been three weeks now that I haven't snacked at night. Or even really wanted to, and no more waking up in the middle of the night.  So maybe if you up your calories a bit during the day this problem will go away for you too.Smile

I personally like a hard tight body, not overly muscular but a body that says       " yeh, I lift weights "  Laughing  My goal is to be hard and muscular but I also have an issue with abs, I don't really like the bumpy man looking stomach, I would still like a waist line.  Tight but still girly.  Does that make any sense?

Weight Loss AAAAAAAAAAA - I can't stop eating! Nov 26 2008

I get where your coming from, I once had a goal and met my goal only to gain it all back.  Last summer I managed to get to 135 and by Christmas I was back up to 155.  Why?  Because I starved myself to get there and when I allowed myself to eat the things that I denied myself for so long, I went crazy and couldn't stop. I have been struggling for a long time now trying to figure out what to do.  I started working out in the gym about four months ago, and sadly enough that didn't even get me the results I wanted.  But I think I have finally figured out what I was doing wrong.  I needed to eat more.  Simple as that.  And the cravings and binges are slowly but surely going away.  I make sure that I eat enough good food, and I don't seem to want the bad, as much.  I'm going to allow myself a cheat day once every two weeks.  I'm new at this but if you need a friend to go along the journey I will be willing to help.  I know how frustrated you are.  I'm there also.  I try to eat 1500 calories a day and I break that into five, 300 calorie meals.  It really works because I feel like I'm eating all day.  I haven't lost anything yet, but I was told it might take awhile before my body realizes that I won't starve it anymore. Anyways, I hope that helped a little.

This is also is happening to me.  I don't get it either.  I use the food log and exercise religiously.  I find the more I exercise the fatter I get around my stomach. I have been at this for now four months and it is frustrating as hell. I haven't lost one pound and  my inches are still the same and some days bigger so I know that it can't be muscle and I've heard it takes about one month of hard lifting to gain about two pounds of muscle.  I have just tried increasing my calories because someone said maybe I wasn't eating enough, so I've been trying that but so far just negative results, but I'm not very patient. ; )

Its about 4:30 pm. I'm at 1139 cals, A foods. I'm having roasted chicken, asparagus spears and maybe a bit of rice for dinner which should finish me at about 1450, my goal for the day since I did not lift today.  I like to space out my meals all day at about 300 each, makes it easier to keep track of them.

Weight Loss what to eat specifically to lose flab? Nov 19 2008
19:21 (UTC)

Eating clean is probably the best.  Cut out all the refined sugars, white breads and pasta. Obviously the sweets. : )  Eat only fruits, veggies, lean cuts of red meat, chicken, fish, turkey and eggs. Don't forget your milk, change it to skim, this also helps with you skin.  Whole wheat breads and pasta are good. So a good balance of carbs and protein are what most people do. You really need both to build a healthy body.  I like to keep my protein higher for my muscles but it really depends on the person.  It will seem kind of restrictive at first but after awhile you'll get creative.  Good Luck.

1850 calories?  Are you kidding me?  That to me is like a buffet.  How do you get it all down?  Boy if this is the way to do it, I've been doing it all wrong.  I feel so guilty for going over 1200 calories.  This is freaking me out a little thinking about eating all that food.  I work out hard, lifting four days a week.  I started working out about three months ago, started with all cardio and now I am into the lifting more.  I keep myself fairly active on a day to day basis.  But have had no change in my weight not even a little.

How much will I gain? LOL and should I stay away from the scale for a bit?  I think it would probably be best if I put it away. : )  I have been known to freak out a little. : D  I am going to give this a go, because it really makes sense to me now.  I certainly will have some fun eating all that food.  I know all the right choices of food because I have been watching what I eat forever, so I'll just stick to A and B foods maybe even allow myself to have a treat once in a while.  And I will try not to freak out. : )  Once again, thanks so much!!!

Weight Loss Apple Shaped Women... Nov 13 2008

I am an apple shape and I find the low rise stretch jeans are the best and cheap.  Make sure the waist band is extra stretchy, and I also find if you wear a tight fitting camisole under your shirt of choice it helps minimize the muffin top.  Hope this helps,  I know first hand how much it sucks. : )

I am 39, and I currantly weigh 154pds.  Which I hate.  I want to lose the weight more important the inches the healthy way this time.  In the past I have starved myself and took diet pills to lose the weight and it always worked but I felt terrible and the weight always comes back.  I would like to lose about twenty pounds, I am 5'6" tall, and I feel that is a reasonable weight to be.  But I would also be happy to be 140pds if my body was fit and tight.  I do lift four times a week. And I work hard at it and challenge myself.  I really love it.  I am having the worst time trying to figure out how much I should be eating.  If you could give me some advice I would really appreciate it.

Hi allnaturalgirl02,  Do you really think that would work?  I am so confused at what I should be eating, calorie wise.  I know all the good foods, I do eat them everyday. But seriously how does one figure it out. I am terrified to eat more because of the weight gain.  How long should I give it chance? It really does freak me out when the scale says I am gaining.

Fitness How much exercise is necessary? Nov 12 2008

I have been trying to lose twenty pounds now for about three months. And so far no luck.  I started going to the gym six days a week for an hour, I did this for two months and nothing.  I then realized that maybe I was eating too much and started counting calories, I try to keep it about 1200.  I then stopped  doing the cardio because I felt like I was wasting my time killing myself every morning and started weight training. I've been doing that for about a month, four days a week.  I have noticed a slight change in my inches but nothing in weight loss.  Its so frustrating trying to find what works best for each person. I am still trying to find mine.  In the past I have always starved myself to lose the weight which is not healthy and ruins your metabolism.  So I have heard that the real truth is its, 95% eating and 5% exercise to lose those stubborn pounds.

I try to keep my calorie intake between 1200 and 1400.  I also lift four times a week.  I keep myself busy on the days I'm not at the gym.  I had to ask because everyone seems to say to the person who complains about not getting the results they want, they always ask if the person is eating enough. I find for myself that my metabolism is not the best so I keep my calories low to lose  the weight, if I eat more then I gain.

I am so glad to hear that other people have this same problem.  I can go days and weeks without bingeing and then WHAM, I find myself stuffing food down my throat.  Things I don't even normally crave.  Its like I'm trying to fill some kind of emptyness.  I feel so good while I am munching and chewing but after I've had my fill the guilt and the sickness kicks in. And I hate myself! I wish there was some miracle cure out there for this.  No matter what I seem to do lately I can't seem to shed even one ounce.  I go down one pound then put on two. It makes me want to eat everything in the house.  I haven't binged in about three months, but I know that doesn't mean I won't again. I feel myself fantasizing about doing it.  Silly!

Weight Loss Weightloss takes EFFORT! agree or disagree? Nov 10 2008

Its so true,  the more time you have to focus on your goals, the better.  When I have too much on the go, I skip meals, which is a big no no for me because then it causes me to binge when I do find time to eat.  So I always find time to plan my meals and bring healthy snacks with me when I am on the go.  So just do your best and be patient because sometimes it seems to take forever. Expecially if your doing it the healthy way and only trying to lose a pound or two a week.  Good Luck!

Thanks ladies,  I lift four times a week. Started about one month ago now. I am watching my diet, eating only A list foods, so I guess I'm doing all that I can.  I try not to let it bother me but some days it just really sucks! I have about twenty pounds I would like to shed, so I hope that will help get rid of it or at least look like I did. : D
