eggplant makes great "crust," like if you slice it into rounds and top it like a pizza! there are recipes out there for actually arranging eggplant slices on a pan and making an entire pizza, too. In fact tonight i made lasagna but just replaced the noodles with thin eggplant and it was awesome. kind of a eggplant parm/lasagna mash-up. rachael ray would have an adorable name for the dish, i'm sure. |

| Foods | any teens following a 1200 calorie diet? snack ideas? | Aug 02 2009 01:35 (UTC) |

Hi! no matter what your calorie goal is, 100-200 calorie snacks are good to have in your food repertoire. I'm a teen whose goal is 1200 calories as well and no, i'm no athlete, but i feel good and energized and healthy on 1200 calories a day, but if i workout i do scale it up to 1500 or so and i have been successful at losing weight. These are some snacks that tide me over between meals that are 100-200 kcal: half a whole wheat english muffin with peanut butter cottage cheese with fruit or honey and cinnamon hummus on baby carrots or wheat pita half a cup of raisin bran and half a cup of vanilla soy milk string cheese an apple and 20-ish almonds tuna salad yummm

| Foods | mmmmmmm...... something salty. | Nov 20 2008 07:46 (UTC) |

i am addicted to pirates booty and smart puffs. they're not good for you but it's like 130 calories a bag, but the good thing about them is they're not fried, they're baked or air puffed. a lot of popular chips come in baked varieties. sun chips are also multigrain... i mean, none of these is like, health foods, but if you crave something bad then these are the lesser evils. Another good salty snack is roasted almonds which are like 170 calories for 28 almonds. Those are also really filling. the bad thing is they're really easy to eat too many of because they're calorie dense and completely addicting. pour them into a shot glass and eat only that many. I also like thin wafer crackers like wasa crackers with laughing cow cheese or reduced fat cream cheese. They are really bland tasting so they go well with everything... salsa, hummus, peanut butter, tapanade, deli meat this isn't for everyone, but i looove smoked fish. just a little is really good for you, got those good fats and protein. and its soo flavorful. I love a slice of whole wheat bread with thinly spread cream cheese and smoked salmon, trout, mackerel, whitefish, even sardines, and maybe some tomato. so good. (if you're in the mood). that's a healthy, snack that is filling. its better than half a bag of chips, at any rate. have a mint after :)

-skinny girls are all over my boyfriend and i need to look better than them, to scare them :) - cute going-out clothes - i miss the time when my curves were sexy and not... soft and doughy - not be the only one of my friends in a one piece at the beach - the compliments, of course :) love those compliments. - inspire my mom to lose weight - impress my boyfriend, admittedly. he's skinnier than me! - be healthy and happy and make a lifestyle change that will keep me that way for the rest of my life!

swimming was how my jogging-addicted sister got exercise when she tore a ligament in her knee. ask a physical therapist, but swimming is really easy on your joints and is great cardio. |
