welcome msh! I believe 50 kilos = 110.3 and 51 = 112.5, how tall are you msh? Soo...my little update. I fell off the wagon, never go back on. Had a massive drinking night of Friday, and had an extremely bloated Saturday weight. So ate well/not too bad Sunday-Tuesday and I weighed in this morning at 132!! I couldn't believe it, i haven't worked out in a week and a half and have not logged any calories, not quite sure how I did that? I'll check back in a few days to see where I go from here, but I'm feeling pretty 'woohoo' today. Only two more pounds until I see something below 130. That is now my New Years Eve goal. |

Thanks for the warm welcomes (even though it sounds like it's very cold where most of you are):) It's great to see others who have the same or very similar stats and goals. And yes, I am in the lovely city of Melbourne down under, where the weather is definitely warmer than New England. The other benefit of being in Australia, is that I get to way in first on Wedesdays!! So here I go (as most of you are probably putting yourselves to bed on Tuesday), this morning I weighed in at 132!!! That is really good for me, I didn't believe it, I reweighed like 4 times. It doesn't make sense because I haven't worked out for a week and a half and have been drinking and eating pizza. Maybe I should stick to this plan:) I'm thinking maybe I was just dehydrated this morning? I don't know, but now I'm only 2.1 lbs away from hitting below 130. And hopefully hitting my goal of 126 by mid/late January for my 25th bday. My goal for the next week, get better sleep so I have the energy to get back on the bike (I like spinning class) and get back into the gym. I like this weekly check-in, it's a great way to stay on track! |

Hi, I've just come accross this thread and thought it would be a good one for me to join (seems like it's been going a long time). I started on cc in the beginning of November '08. Here are my stats: SW: 136 CW: 133.4 (as of today, but hit 132.8 two days ago, water and bad eating the past two days) GW: 126 Height: 5'5" I'm writing in from Melbourne, so way ahead of everyone. But originally from Boston so nice to see someone from MA on here. I'm feeling much better for having dropped nearly 3lbs, but definitely would really like to hit something just under 130. The day I get to 129.9 I'll be jumping, but it's so tough for me do get down these next 3lbs, been fighting them for the last couple of years. So i'm here to be motivated and motivate. |

i was doing really well, but then for the first time since joining I've stopped logging my food, since last Saturday. Over the weekend I had a bbq, and sorta snacked while preparing and ate randomly and drank, so I sorta said forget trying to figure out how much I ate. This was a bad trend because yesterday I just did not hold back at all, I ate mostly healthy food, but I know a ton of it. I think the holiday season has finally hit, it's not so much the food, but the alcohol. I'll log my food today and try to do spinning tonight, which I haven't done since Saturday. It's been a bad week, but I think I'll just do what I can for the rest of it (considering I have a Christmas work party on Friday) and just try to get back on track next week (although I have two more Christmas parties next week!). Welcome lousrock1! |

Hey ladies! Another new low, 132.8! Such slow going, but at least it's still going. I was actually surprised because, although I did spinning Saturday morning, I drank and ate a fair bit on Sat night, didn't exercise at all on Sunday or Monday, and today I still had a new low. I'm hoping I'm not just dehydrated though. Back on the saddle today though, will go to the gym after work. nycgirl - I hope you got out a bit in the last few days, even just walking and gettin fresh air. Like I mentioned, no exercise on Sunday for me, but I sat outside reading, which was much more positive than reading inside. But, you are in NY and I know it's cold over there. Maybe you could go iceskating? Firebrand- happy belated birthday to you!! keep us posted on the bonanza. vnaloo- So jealous you're done with work and going to travel! where are you thinking of going? nice work on the yoga, i'm not a flexible person, so yoga class always scares me, I can never tell if the streching pain is a good one or if i'm doing damage! haha |

firebrand- yes, enjoy yourself, definitely. but as vnaloo suggested, if you have opportunities to stay on track, try to. so the night you go out for bulgarian food, make a real effort to eat healthy in the day and then you can enjoy your dinner more. i know the bad weather is tough, i grew up in boston and it gets pretty cold there too. also, when i studied in Rome i put on probably 15 at least, i didnt' have a scale there or when i came back, but i didn't fit into any of my clothes by the end of it. when i got back to boston and in a normal routine, without really trying i remember i dropped a lot of it. vnaloo- spinning is awesome, i used to never ride a bike at all and in general i won't push myself if I'm working out alone. if you can do 20 minutes on your own, then being in a class with an instructor, you'd make it the whole way. my class is 45 minutes, which includes a warm up at the start and cool down at the end, so really like 35 minutes tough. speaking of, i'm feeling very proud of myself for having gone to spinning yesterday because i was so tired in the day and though i just want to get home and veg out, but i did it, and then i felt great. Although, i have eaten a lot of chocolate covered raisins today. i haven't lost any more yet, but the spinning i think is what will help, because i'm having a hard time eating any less, so upping the calorie burn should do something. hopefully! |

A new low today, 133.2! It's not much more, but progress. i'm still on track to lose 6-7lbs by end of Jan, which is good. fibrebrand- thanks for the tip/reminder on sweet potatoes. i love them, they are filling, and very healthy. i'll have to make sure to prepare them ahead of time. also, agreed, i've been eating a lot less meat lately. first is was because of sustainability/environment reasons, but now it's helping to keep calories down as well. elen0sila- i think you're right, I think shooting for 1300/1400 is too low for me. when i started i was consistently eating 1600 and loss on that, so that will be my new goal. i've been doing spinning classes lately and that's been fantastic, because i can't run because of my knee. a hard work out keeps me motivated and sometimes i need a class to be pushed hard. |

| Well, it's practically mid-week and I'm not doing very well. I find it so difficult to only eat 1400 cal a day, when I want to eat hearty meals of carbs, but to stay low on cals I feel like I have to eat a lot of salad, but just not finding it satisfying. I'm stuck at 134. Although, I do generally feel better, because I have been eating much healthier, just lots of healthy food.
What are people eating to meet at 1400/1500 calorie/day goal? Are you finding it satisfying? |

I was doing really well the first few weeks I started, but then I think I got too comfortable with how well I was doing and ended up gaining a pound. I worked really hard this week to stay at my calorie goal (which still meant I went over by 100 or 200 some days). Although, celebrating Thanksgiving yesterday (strange I know, but I'm living in Australia) I did really well. I did spinning class in the morning, ate a healthy breakfast, and then by the time we were having dinner I was starving! I loaded my plate, but made sure to take plenty of the veggie options, but then on desert I completely indulged. I still came out well weighing in this morning, down from the day before at 133.6, but I haven't been able to get below 133.4. I'm going to work really hard again this week and hopefully get down one more.
Warbler02, I've always found if I'm on a low calorie diet, the best thing to boost losing more is one day in the week, or one day every 10 days, letting myself induldge. I don't mean on pizza and icecream, but plenty of healthy carbs, like a big pasta dinner. I think having one day every once and awhile helps your body know that you're not in 'starving' mode, so the following next 10 days your body will let you drop. I suggest this oppose to just adding an extra 100 or 200 calories a day, because you're body will get used to that intake as well. I think that's why Thanksgiving dinner was good for me yesterday. Just my thoughts, any one else? |

Another new joiner here, though I have been following this thread for a couple of weeks now and have been riding on your motivation:) I started at a peak weight of 139 lbs (an evening weight after eating all day), which was a result of baking a batch of cookies at home and basically eating them all in a week! Which was the point when I joined this site about a month ago. I'm 5'5", 24 years old, and have reached a low weight of 133.4 (early morning weigh-in) last week, since joining (though I have been lower in my late teens/early 20s). My goal is 126 lbs, which has been my goal for 2 years now and seem to always get stuck at 131 lbs, so I need some serious motivation to reach this goal by my 25th birthday in mid-Jan. I want to feel great heading into my mid-20s. And this seems like the perfect forum. Thanks!! |

I use the elliptical trainer as well. When I log my activity, I log it to match the same amount of calories as what the machine says, because I think it is the most accurate. I find in general the activities seem to be over estimating actual calories burned. What I do is log my activity on the underestimated side to be conservative about my calorie balance. For example, if I play tennis for 2 hours, I will only log it as 1 or 1.5 hours. I tend to do the same for logging food, I over estimate what calories I've consumed, to be conservative. This way I know I'm meeting my 500 calorie deficit. |
