Original Post by meowphotog: me too!! i was 108-111 at age 18 and now i'm 122. close enough haha. i feel healthier now too (never used to eat fruits and veg, now i do) and much more muscular but i'm definitely bigger than i was then. used to be 0/2, now i'm a perfect 4. nevertheless, i'd love to get back down to 111! |

thanks for posting this, its so good to hear that it gets easier. i gave up snacking and wow, i was so hungry at first, but now i'm starting to get used to eating three balanced, healthy meals a day instead of grazing on peanut butter and cookies and whatever i feel like all day long!!!! your body DOES adjust after a while as long as you are treating it well (took bout a week in my case). thank goodness!! |

i did almost the same exact thing yesterday. you know the big bags of m&ms, that are supposed to go in a candy jar and last a couple of weeks, well i ate a whole one yesterday. 1,600 calories. i've got you beat. today i am trying to eat as healthy as possible to make up for it. i am makeing a "quota" of veg and fruits and other healthy things that i have to eat today. hoping if i do that, then i will not want to eat more candy and such. also, lots of green tea!! i don't know about you, but when i started eating those m&ms i got into some kind of a "zone" where i could NOT stop eating them. i didn't even want to keep eating, i didn't realize what i was doing, like i was half asleep if that makes sense. yuck. so just know you're not the only one!! take it one day at a time..... don't let it get you down and learn from your mistake. |

hi jay, well it seems we are in the same situation! i'm 5'2, 125 and trying to get down to 117 or so by the end of january. maybe we can help keep each other on track.....share our weigh-ins, etc. how often do you weigh? i weigh every morning and was elated to be down to 125.5 today after being stuck in the 126 range!!! |

unfortunately, this can work the other way too! i used to be 5'3, 110 and feel great. well now my weight has jumped up to 125 but i still feel skinny.....until i see a picture of myself!! i look in the mirror and still see the same girl that was there when i weighed 110, even though i'm quite different now. i'm trying to make it sink in that i'm chubby now so i'll get motivated to lose this weight. (: |

hi, i know this is super late but....just wondering if you accomplished your goal of 110? i am in the same boat as you were, 5'3", 125 pounds. my long term goal is 110, once i've reached my first goal of 124 (so close!) anyway, just curious to see how you did. hope it worked out for you!! (: |

| Weight Loss | is it even possible? | Dec 13 2008 13:50 (UTC) |

I would say it depends on your body type. If you're a pear shape, definitely! That's probably where you'll lose weight first. Even if not, with enough time and healthy eating you might. Just give it some time!!! Even if you don't get a flat stomach, you'll still look great. I think your overall look is more important than just having one part of your body "perfect" ....... Don't know anything about surgery lol. |

I've been there too. College was a truly hard time for me because i didn't know how to make friends or talk to people. everything embarrassed me; even sitting in class i would be stressed beause i felt that all eyes were on me. this is when i started binge eating...... i'd try to eat with other kids in the caf but end up feeling so embarrassed that i'd go home and eat 5 million m&ms. looking back i wish i had gotten treatment. i really encourage you to try to tell someone you can open up to (i realize it is so ironic that you have to speak up and confide your feelings in order to get treatment for SAD. hello, the definition of the disorder is that you have a really hard time with that!). if there is someone you feel comfortable talking about it to though, they can call a doctor and make you an appt. i've managed to "grow out" of the worst of it, but i look back on college and high school with regret because i missed out on so much. it's totally fine that you're not a social butterfly, but if this is making you miserable, that is not ok. i think treatment will help you find a happy medium. |

I guess I'm not being extremely intense. I am not eating any desserts, muffins, etc.--anything that obviously has sugar. I am eating tons of fruit and other "natural" sugar instead. I am also allowing myself granola bars with less than 8 grams of sugar, but only in moderation (only eaten one in four days!). I haven't had any withdrawal symptoms besides cravings, but I always had those anyway! It's a nice change to tough it out or to eat an apple when I am craving a do-nut. I think I will incorporate chocolate back into my diet after a week, but only when someone else offers it to me. I don't want to ever sit around by myself eatign dessert again. I actually feel pretty great. Regular food tastes better, too!! |

I agree that it's possible to exercise too much. I have been there too---started to exercise to get in shape, but it just upped my appetite and I ended up gaining weight. I would take a couple days off from working out, as hard as that might be. Don't feel fat because you're not exercising! Try to get in touch with your hunger when youare not exercising, see how much you need then..... It's also possible to feel like it's OK to eat more after working out. Don't know if this applies to you, but it's something else tothink about! |

Awesome! Guess we're the only ones, but I will start a group if I can figure it out. :) How's it going for you? This is my second day sugar free------so far. We also have about the same stats/goals,so that might help too....I am 5'3 and never weighed over 120 until now. Suddenly I'm 128 and want to get back down to 120ish asap. |

OMG you just described perfectly gi-jan! perfectionist who would rather suck completely than just be mediocre. i either eat perfectly or binge . . . i either made an A+ or decided not to give a crap and make a low B in school. This will be a good think to think about-----thanks! |

i don't think it necessarily means you have ocd, but i bet they can be related. i am no expert and neither is anyone on this thread. i could see how they are related because ocd is feeling like you have to do somthing and you dont have control over it. much like binging. this is interesting. has anyone ever heard an actual medical or scientific explanation of this? |
