Maintaining im finally happy with my weight but.... SOMEONE HELP! Oct 24 2007

Im not an expert but I can speak from some experience (with crash dieting). As long as your staying within the maintenance calories I would be surprised if you gain weight. I would go to maintenance calories and maybe add some extra exercise, specifically weight training, which will build muscle and rev up your metabolism (but when looking at weight, remember muscle weighs more than fat!).

Best of Luck!

hi everyone,
sorry Im really busy. Final papers, work, holiday time, etc. aaah.
here is my weigh in for last week... 141lbs (stayed the same) and I managed to get in 3 hours of exercise (formal exercise anyway, I feel like my life is constant exercise lately).
Well I hope everyone is doing great, and I promise I'll be around soon. (after all my papers on due 12/19, which is also my birthday!!)
Take care.

Hi everyone. I have to be quick. It looks like everyone is doing well. That's great!
Here is my weigh in: 141lbs (up one pound, dammit), and 2.5 hours of exercise. It was a weak week.
I have to run, busy day. I'll catch up later!

Hi everyone I'm just stoping in to say whats up.
Hi gottigirl and jco!
Ali that is awesome! I cheated too, weighed myself early but...not so great, I gained 2 pounds! aah this week is terrible. I'm working a lot, it's close to the end of the semester so lots of work is due, haven't had time to work out much, and I've been eating late and drinking wine every night.
I honestly keep struggling with gaining and losing the same 3 pounds, it sucks. But I'm going to try to focus and at least get back on track for a half decent weigh in on friday.
I hope everyone else is doing great!

I LOVE pizza. I can not live with out it. I eat it at least 2-3 times a week. I make my own most of the time...I buy wheat dough from my grocery store, use lower sugar sauce, and soy cheese, add tons of veggies and it is actually Really healthy! yuummmm!
Digornio makes some healthier frozen pizzas too.

So this morning my boyfriend brought me a muffin from Dunkin Doughtnuts. It was a bran muffin so I thought that it probably wasnt that bad. I was starving so I ate it with out checking the cals. Turns out it has 480 calories and 17 grams of fat!!!! Aaah....That's a huge chunk of my cals for the day and its all from fat! From now I'm checking everything unless I'm totally sure.

Hi everyone!
I hope you all had a good Thanksgiving. I actually managed to stay within maintanence! This has been a pretty good week for me. I hope everyone is doing well. I'm posting my weigh in then going shopping! Aaaah! Wish me luck on that, hehe.
Weigh In
Weight this morning = 140!
Weight Loss = 1.5 = 15 points!
Excercise = 4.5 hrs = 4 points!
Total points = 19
Yay. This is really giving me motivation. Finally! Thank you all a lot. I hope everyone had a good week, and if not, that's quite alright because now you get a fresh start.

I'll be back later, have a good day.

~Mary

Edit: Scratch that. I won't be going shopping. I just got called into work, dammit, grrrr. Non stop working lately, no wonder I lost weight this week, haha.
Well I probably won't be back later now so still have a good one.

So are we logging in our exercise and our weights today?

I lost .5 pounds. I'm not really sure how though because I did NOT eat well this week. I'm talking brownies, french fries, pizza, etc. It's been another stressful week. However I can NEVER go with out exercise (I'm seriously an addict- no joke), so maybe that helped me a little

So my weight is...141.5

My exercise hours (sun-friday)- 130 minutes = ~2 hours

Okay so...

 [S=142, L=0.5, C=141.5, EX=2] Points= 7

(???, not quite sure if this is right so let me know)

So...I hope everyone did great! (especially team A, hehe)

Also...I don't think gaining should lose point or anything. Hey it happens. It's quite alright, and perfectly acceptable =)

I might not be around too much this weekend. I'm pretty busy...SO I hope everyone has a great one!

Hi everyone

I hope everyone's day is going good. I'm busy, I have to work tonight and I have to somehow read a 400 page book and write a 4 page paper by tomrrow. Fun stuff

I know there is some talk about work out videos and pilates videos.

I LOVE Pilates. The instructors can be annoying at first because they act like it is so easy and it seems like theyre on some sort of relaxing drug or something because theyre so calm and encouraging. So that can be annoying, but once you get over that I think it really works (at least it does for me). It does take some practice and it can be frustrating to get down at first but once you do it's excellent. I have 7 different pilates DVDs. Here is great site with reviews of excercise videos and stuff. This instructor is great, I love her videos. I saw her on fit tv and that is was when I started getting into pilates, now I have 4 of her DVDs. I have read criticisms of her but I think she is great. This DVD is an excellent one for beginners. And jadedjester...some of the pilates you don't really need much room at all (just enough for about the length of your body). So you might be able to just do them in your room. That is what I did when I lived with other roommates. So, Good luck and let me know what you all think.

Everyone....Enjoy the rest of your day!

(sorry if this post is filled with mis-spellings I'm going quickly)

I was thinking...
I think that we should get a point for maintenance as well...because I know for myself, some weeks are a struggle just to not gain weight! haha....what do you guys think?
(also this way if anyone who is here just to maintain and not necessarily to lose weight can play as well)

Delve_deeper,

I would love to help.

 I can relate?

When I was 16 I weighed over 200 pounds. Right before my senior year of high school I decided that I had to change. I wanted to become healthy, learn to eat better, and be happier with myself. But most of all I wanted to look good. Not only was I going to college in about a year but my entire senior class was going to the Bahamas at the end of the year. The thought of getting into a swim suit in front of them was petrifying (to say the least).

So starting that summer I started to exercise, stop eating French fries and mozzarella sticks all of the time, and just change. By the time school started that year I already saw changes and so did everyone else. That year I really worked hard. It was not easy because all of my friends were doing the same things?hanging around eating pizza, cookies, and chips. It took a lot of will power and self motivation. I also absolutely fell in love with working out at this point. I took every opportunity to work out. Gym class, before or after school, and sometimes with friends, walking the mall, roller blading, biking, etc., I made a true conscious effort to try and stay active. I did not count calories but rather focused on being active and making healthy food choices. Concentrating on what and how much I was eating.

By the time my class went to the Bahamas that year I was down to about 155 pounds. Not quite where I wanted to be but I had come a very long way. So after the trip was over at the end of May I made prom my next thing to strive for, and by the time that prom came I had to have my size 11 dress taken in. I was fitting into a size 9 at about 145 pounds. Coming from being about a size 16-18 a year earlier, I was ecstatic. I never thought I would be that thin.

After prom my next goal was college. By the time I went to college that fall I was about 130 pounds and I fit into a size 7 or a 5 sometimes!

I am 23 now. I have struggled a little with maintain 130 pounds through out the years but I?ve stayed between 135 and 140 for about 6 years now. I made a complete life style change and it really paid off.

**You can do the same. Losing 5 pounds a month is very feasible. I personally feel that at first you should not concentrate so much on counting calories as you should changing your bad habits and adjusting your lifestyle. I know this sounds really cliché, but I really think it is true.

  • Recognize your bad habits, and adjust them.
  • Set goals.
  • Make serious life changes.
  • Try to always have alternative plans for situations where you might think your healthy changes may be affected.
  • Find things to motivate you each day(things big or small)
  • Do not completely deprive yourself of being 17.
A lot of people here write in the journals provided and people can give you feed bad about how you?re doing. That may be helpful. Please feel free contact me if you need advice (email- marec1283@yahoo.com). You can do it!

Good Luck!
