Well thank you for that! I thought I was crazy...or it was just me! I do feel sorry for those that think that they need to be a 00 to be happy, healthy and accepted. In my opinion it borders on eating disorder to be that obsessed when you are that small. Good luck ladies......from someone who is overweight and comfortable with who they are. Oh...and i mean that sincerely....I hope you find what you are really looking for.....(i will give you a hint.....you already posess it inside yourself!) Now off to track my pms calories! |

| Weight Loss | How weird is this.. | Sep 28 2007 18:50 (UTC) |

Hey Kay I went through the same thing about a year and a half ago. I was working out 6 days a week and counting calories. This plateau last for 3MONTHS! Not one freaking pound. I got sooooo fustrated that I quit everything. I was able to maintain the 35 pound weightloss for a year and a half. What happened was my body went into starvation mode and said that's enough....that's it....no more. This time I am making sure that I have enough calories even if it scares me.....and that can mean some days for my weight....i am taking in over 2000 calories when I excersice. I am however not working out as hard. Yoga and pilates are great because they increase muscle tone and shape your body and you feel like you did a major workout. With that and walking more I have lost 6 pounds in two weeks. The one thing I truely suggest is not letting your body go into starvation mode....cuz it can be a ***** to get out of! |

| Weight Loss | JUST found out I am pregnant and 100 pounds overweight WHAT TO DO | Jun 16 2006 20:09 (UTC) |
11 |
| When I was pregnant, I like njasmin gained a total of 5 pounds and my son was 8 pounds. I walked every night throughout my pregnancy. In fact, my doctor said that it was because I was pregnant that I was losing weight. My metoblism shot through the roof!
The day after my son was born I weighed about 30 pounds less than before I got pregnant. I made sure to take my pre natal vitimins and eat lots of folic acid. If you are doing that then you are making your body healthier without even really trying. Folic acid is found in things like spinach, lettuce, brocolli, anything green. If you have over a hundred pounds to lose.....i highly doubt that you even could gain 40 pounds extra. So don't diet! Eat healthy foods and enjoy the cravings! The rest will come. |

| Actually I did some research because i love them so much. A slurpee is mostly ice with a little bit of suryp in it. A 20 oz slurpee (the new baby size from 7-11) is 147 calories........score!
Sugar is another story however. For me I have given up all pop.....but do give into my craving about once every two weeks for a slurpee. |

| Ob.....remember when I said that i was jealous of you and you took offense to it? This is exactly the feeling I was talking about. I am happy to see you truely know how I feel now.
DCgirl......I have been overweight all of my life. I was 200 pounds at the age of 13. I take completely responsibility for my weight as an adult.....but no one can tell me that a 200 pound 13 year old is responsible for getting to that point. It is years of growing up and being fed crap and no monitoring of what went into my mouth. When i became an adult it became a vicious cycle......i was fat and felt crappy about myself and then binged on more junk and then gained more weight. The lowest I have been was the day AFTER I had my son. (My metabolism shot through the roof being pregnant). I was 180. I found myself at 19 with a brand new baby and a boyfriend who was in jail for abusing me. I was stuck in my house and I went from 180 to 250 in about 3 years. My life was out of control. I think that is a lot of the problem........when everything seems to be spiraling downward.....sometimes you don't have the tools or knowledge to pull yourself out. This is just one person's story......I am sure it is different for everyone as with anything......perception is reality |

| I would like to add something to this. I agree with everything you said. It is a personal journey and everyone needs to ultimately do what works for them.
However, there is a lot of good information both on this website and from qualified people who post. (Even from yourself, ob) Like they say in AA "take what you need, and leave the rest." Actually seeing a formula to calculate the amount of calories i should input and output really helped put all the information into place. I would have never seen the formula had someone not posted it on here. I do not have health coverage and therefore seeing a nutritionist, hiring a trainer, and hell even seeing a doctor is not a viable option for me. I do agree that everyone should be encouraged to see a doctor and not trust what they read.....but sometimes what they read is the only thing they can rely on. Just remember (like Ob said) take what you need and do what works for you! I think that we are looking for the answer out here. I see many people at their wits end searching for some answers......all we can do is state what has worked for us.....and if that helps one person then that's why this website was created.....especially the forums.....for all of us to share our struggles and our knowledge!!! |

| Choco------the caluculation she provided for us is different for everyone. For some people they will only have to eat 1200 calories....for me because i am huge still.....in order to lose weight I have to eat around 2000.
Every 5 pounds or so i have to do the calculations again and figure out the new numbers. I will eventually go down to 1200 and then go on maintanence. But that won't be for a while! |

| Ok so first of all......congratulations on your weight loss. I just want to make that known before i say what I am going to say. Because I am happy for you.
We started at the same time in January. I was at 285. I am sitting at 250 now (can't seem to budge). I have to say that I am a little more than frustrated that I havent' seen the same results. I am excersing like crazy and stay between 13-1600 calories. Now i have to be honest. I have been taking my measurements and dena we now have the same measurements. Is it alright that I am frustrated by this. It is a great success to you and i don't want to take that away from you.......but still |

You know what sux though.....I had been losing about 3 pounds per week and now i am not. I know realistically that i shouldn't be losing more than two pounds.......but when i was losing 3 pounds i feel like i was succeeding. Now it just seems hard. but still i have lost 68 inches....so that's positive!

| The one thing that it has given me is the ability to walk more than a block.
I know this doesn't sound like much but my syatic (sp?) nerve acted up so much that I could not walk ten steps without being in serious doubling over pain. Now I can do up to 5 miles on the treadmill or more on the elliptical. I am an event planner. We had an event on friday where we sold tulips in the lobbies of downtown highrises. Spread over 20 blocks, i ran the show (checking in....making sure all locations were ok). I estimate i walked (briskly) 10 miles that day. I could barely move the next day.....but hey....there is no way I could have done my job if i hadn't dropped 35 pounds! |

Ok listen here! When i started I needed to lose 120 pounds. I am down 33. When I first started, I did the treadmill for 15 minutes (that's all i could muster) for 2.7 miles per hour. After about a month i tried the elliptical for the first time. I was lucky if i hit 2.7 miles. The first time I could only do 5 minutes! Now after 3 months of working out, I have been doing the elliptical for 30-60 minutes at a speed of 4.0-4.5. The treadmill that's a different story. I go at most 3.2 because if i go faster i feel unstable.....but i do have it at an incline......that's important. I can't change the speed right now but as my endurance increases so does the incline. As for how long. I was going to the gym 6 days a week for an hour at a time. My work scheduled changed and i can only do 30 minutes a day. I am doing the same intensity and seeing the same results in my weightloss and inch loss ( on average 3 pounds and 5 inches) My advice is don't watch other people.....do what's good for you and what feels good for you. A trainer told me.....you should be able to speak a complete sentence without gasping. If you can do that then you are at the right pace. As a side note.....i saw a new "skinny" woman come into the gym and try the elliptical she was panting after 5 minutes and she was only going 3.5. She had to stop. She told me it kicked her butt. So it's not just overweight people who are out of shape. |

On a lighter note, my ex girlfriend! I would like her to see what she gave up! What will i be wearing????? hmmmmm anything from a regular sized clothing store! |

| allyc----that was an example of a BAD day only being able to get to 2100 calories of the 2300 it says i need.
On good days ( which is about 92% of the time) i can only get to at the most 1500 calories. I have at least 12 servings of fruits and veggies and drink about 3 litres of water a day so i am not really worried about that. I do also eat cheese, nuts, and protein. So i am really trying to add calories....lol It does make sense to me that the more i weigh the more effort it will take me to preform exercise and day to day activities......what i didn't understand is how i can burn off almost 3000 calories more than i take in so i guess that is my real question |

| I don't know if we have officially started or not. But I am updating where i am at.
To date, I have hit the 30 pound mark! From 285 to 255. Would like to lose about 95 more. Oh and i have lost a total of 55 inches. (that's neck, shoulders, bust, biceps, forearms, waist, hips, thighs, and calves) Measuring myself has really kept me going. I have consistantly lost inches even when my weight loss has been slow. Good luck everyone! We can do this! |

| Ok. I want to say that you don't have to worry about your post offending anyone. I think it is a matter of everyone shouting about success and whispering about the stumbles.
I am 31 years old. Have always been obese. One day, (January 3) i woke up and said.....i don't want to be 285 pounds. I decided to do something about it. I can tell you in the last 3 months I have had fast food numerous times......once i had it 3 times in one week! I am not perfect at all. The one thing that remains constant though has been the exercise. When i first started exercising boy oh boy......let me tell you it was painful. I kept at it. A person only NEEDS to exercise 3 times a week. I choose to do some sort of movement for 30 minutes a day. For me i find it easier to move than to give up mcdonald's....hehe Today, I hit my 30 pound mark! The only other time I have hit this mark is doing Atkins......that's how i got to 285.....lol. I credit exercise for helping me get this far. It has now become a HUGE part of my life. I want you to know that you brought up a good point......and i appreciate it being brought to my attention. I am guilty of the same thing. Good luck and remember......don't deprive yourself |

| I agree with the salt. They say you are supposed to strive for about 2500 mg of sodium. The last 4 days have been at 4500. That would account for the 2 pound jump i have had in the last 24 hours.
For me it is ham. Ham....low in calories and fat.......friggen high in sodium! |

So according to this.....i need to lose so ummmmm ya i can't do math...96.5 pounds. I am a pretty fast loser. About 3 pounds per week. It's all the exercise i am doing.

| Eat less move more! I refuse to do anymore diets. "Diets" to me are restricting you from having something. This is a form of punishment. I don't want to be punished for the rest of my life. My calorie counter says i should eat 1995 calories a day. I find this to be litterally too much food. I stick with about 1500. I still have chocolate (Cadbury Thins are my new best friend) and ocassionally have fast food. Other than that, I excercise 6 days a week. In those 6 days i mix it up with swimming, yoga, eliptical, weights. That's it. I am in the gym at 6am......if i'm not......i find other things to fill up my time. I figure i am up anyway....why not do something productive! That's it! (By the way.....i was 285 when i started and am down to 256.5) |

| I am down 28.5 pounds. I just recently started to notice my butt was disappearing ( I have a large one). The biggest thing i can suggest is to measure yourself. This was huge for me not to get discouraged. To date I have lost 50 inches of my entire body. 6 inches off each of my thighs alone! and 6 inches off my waist. That is where I am able to tell. Otherwise I would still think I looked the same when i looked in the mirror. | |||
