Ryan "Whoops" Mallett (as he was known here at Michigan) has been playing exceedingly well at Arkansas.  He might give Florida somewhat of a challenge.

Then again, probably not.

Princess Zelda.  Best friend is going as Link, and my dog is going as the fairy.

I find that having a beer or wine while doing homework or grading or whatever actually makes what I'm doing enjoyable enough so that I stop procrastinating and just get it done.

Which reminds me, I have a 12-pack of Killians and a homework set due tomorrow.  Ready go!

I'm a scientist by trade but a writer at heart.  I'm currently working on my fourth science-fiction novel and have also written a handful of short stories (all unpublished, despite my efforts so far).

I'd definitely join a writing group!

Do you live in a dorm?  Do you sit in your dorm room with the door closed not talking to anyone?

The easiest way I made friends my freshman year was leaving my dorm room door open.  One of my best friends I met just because he happened to be walking by when I was playing DDR with my door open.  I met my husband in the dorms (by, literally, smiling at him as I walked by).  Make friends with the people who live around you and you'll have friends for the next four (plus) years!

kbella, my husband and I got a pembroke welsh corgi last october for our apartment (we live in a condo now with a small fenced in back yard).  They are ideal apartment dogs for "big dog" people because they have big dog personalities in a 25-30 pound package!  They are indoor dogs who need to be with their people but also need a lot of exercise, so if you're able to give a couple nice long walks a day, a corgi might be a good choice for you!

Edited to add: See avatar :)

The Lounge what's the BEST movie you'e ever seen? Sep 13 2009

I think it's interesting that everyone is listing their favorite movies.  I may be strange but my list of favorite movies is completely different than my list of best movies.

Schindler's List is probably the best movie I've ever seen, because it simultaneously tells a somewhat heartwarming story of a man who gives up everything to save lives, but does not shield you from the horrendous backdrop story of the holocaust.  It also has an incredibly beautiful soundtrack.

My favorite movie is Serenity, because Joss Whedon is a genius.  Also love Moulin Rouge, The Princess Bride, and anything involving killing zombies.

But currently it's Living on a Prayer (only the chorus part) thanks to college football and the marching band.

You don't happen to go to Michigan do you?  Although I'm sure EVERY marching band plays Living on a Prayer also.

Fitness jogging shoes asics? Sep 10 2009

I run with Asics 2140 and they are so incredibly comfortable I absolutely love them!  I was getting a lot of ankle pain in my old shoes and the new ones got rid of it... however that was because I went to a store and got fitted, and the asics happened to be right for me.  I have normal arches and somewhat overpronate.  The friend I went to get fitted with had extremely high arches and pretty serious overpronation.  My hubby has extremely flat feet. The point is, everyone's feet are different, and it is impossible for us to tell you what will work for you.

Places like foot locker aren't going to know anything about what shoes you may need.  If you live in a small town that doesn't have a real running store, perhaps you could find one in a nearby city and make a trip some weekend?  It's really worth it!

Disturbed, Coheed and Cambria, Lacuna Coil, Rise Against, Avenged Sevenfold are all on my workout playlists.  I need something loud, fast, and angry to get me motivated. Laughing

"Panic Attack" by Dream Theater is my favorite song for running.  "Give It All" by Rise Against is a close second.

The other day the hubby and I were in the workout room in our building and this pretty big guy comes in and starts lifting... after he left DH informed me that he could overhear the metal on my headphones and the Gwen Stefani on his.  Guess different things work for different people!

P.S. Crazy jesus person needs to chill. You defending the good word on a forum online is not going to get you past the "pearly gates"...

I personally am of the belief that God (and, by extension, Jesus) has a sense of humor. Seriously, look at His children. I know if I were up there watching, I would be laughing non-stop, haha

I think the mere existence of the duck-billed platypus shows that God has a sense of humor.

My dog's favorite place to sleep in the world is on my husband's pillow.  Usually while my husband is trying to sleep on it.  Guess who wins.

He also likes to climb up on the dining room table, but once he's up there he realizes it's too far up for him to jump down and has to wait to be rescued.

Babibu, I don't know if someone else suggested this already but in addition to going on BC you could also get some condoms and keep them in your purse -- that way when it comes up you will always have one handy.  You can definitely get some at PP.

OP by the way, if you "claim" rape, you can get out of paying for this abortion. Just an FYI, and all you need to do is file a police report against some unnamed assailant.

Are you advising her to do this?  Really?  *shakes head*

In this case yes. I am completely for a woman's choice to bare children. And specficially in this case, NOTHING has formed yet.

I don't think the objection here is about the abortion, I think the objection is that claiming you were raped when you were not is not only illegal and wrong, but casts doubt on the word of real rape victims.

There are other ways to get a low-cost abortion.
