1/3 of a second spray has zero calories, but a one second spray has 7....... this doesn't make sense.

It's because they are allowed to round <5 calories down to 0 by law. It's still oil and contains just as many calories per gram as oil from a bottle.

ps- where does it say a "cup" of cheese is 8 1 oz servings. i see that it says that each person would get roughly a cup and that the recommeded serving is 1oz...

Paula Deen's lasagna has an entire eight cups of full-fat cheese (pretty much a whole cup of cheese per person.) As a matter of comparison, a recommended serving of cheese is one ounce. PaulaDeen's lasagna recipe has eight times the recommended serving of cheese per slice

A tablespoon of sugar syrup has about 25 Calories, so you could measure what comes out and subtract.  You should make sure the nutrition information given is for the whole package, and not "drained"

Paula Deen is a mess, no question, but the fact that this food writer doesn't seem to know the difference between volume and weight (saying a "cup" of cheese is 8 1 oz servings) leads me to question her credibility.

tony sounds like the sort of person that A) enjoys being stepped on by others and rationalizes it because of his low self-esteem, B) likes to step on others, and doesn't like being reported, or C) typical "masculine man" that thinks "handling it man to man" is more manly than "crying to HR."

This is why women manage businesses.

People that dislike or discourage communicating with HR are the people you're probably going to be reporting to HR, anyway. Steer clear of them; this isn't a 2nd grade sandbox, it's a workplace; and this isn't toys, it's your career and your life.

LOL. "This is why women manage businesses" Yeah, that worked real well for HP, Xerox, and Lucent stockholders.

You know what's funny? The only people who are saying NOT to go talk to HR are males; how funny.

Ok, make it into a gender thing when it's not.  Have fun whining about problems to HR and your bosses and being labeled a complainer at every job you ever have.

Really, a complainer? Yeah right harassment has no place in the workforce and I think that it happens too much without getting noticed. Really my mom gets harassed at work all the time and she doesn't do anything because she's afraid of the reprocussions; it's against the law to harass someone who has gone to HR because of your behavior. He never made a comment to anybody else in the group and some of those girls are a lot heavier than I am.  I don't want to sue anybody at all that wasn't the point I asked what should I do? People said to go to HR and people said to talk to him. I am a strong woman who refuses to get harassed by a boss, another co-worker, or a male. I was a victim of sexual harassment in high school and was raped so I'm sick of men treating me like I'm a peice of **** when I'm not. I do not have to deal with his harassment and I should NOT have to.

No, you shouldn't have to deal with his harassment.  You should handle it like an adult though and TELL HIM TO STOP.  Not make complaints to his superiors (unless telling him to stop doesn't work)

I took major offense to this. What her boss said is clearly illegal and is definitely over-stepping his bounds as a boss.

I would love to know what laws her boss broke. Please let me know what statutes there are against calling people fat.

Original Post by lindinig:

Her weight in no way impacts her ability to do her job. Her ability to do her job should be the only thing her boss should be concerned about. Talking about one's weight IMO is discrimination.

While I don't agree with the law, overweight people are NOT covered by anti-discrimination lawa

Original Post by lindinig:

He is probably intimidating her because of her age and he's betting on the fact that she will not bring it up to HR. He is creating a hostile workplace for her, which could cause lasting emotional damage. Going to HR with facts in hand, and a solid paper trail does not constitute whining and complaining. Employees should be respected and allowed to do their job without some a****** verbally abusing them.

I think you should go to your boss first and tell him to cut it out.

So we agree, what's the problem?

Original Post by lindinig:

Document it, as others have said. If he does not stop, go to HR.

This is exactly what I said. I said OP would be labeled a complainer and a whiner if she goes to HR without going to her boss first.

Seriously, talk to your boss first before going to HR.  He's probably stupid and has no idea he is making you uncomfortable.  You're an adult, adress the problem directly instead of "telling on him".

Going to his boss or HR before talking to him will make you look like the problem, not him.  It's not ideal but it's the way it is.  If you ask him to stop and he doesn't, then it would be appropriate to escalate the situation to HR.

Hi OP,

Have you made a lot of progress in the 2 years since starting this thread?

I am usually the first one to call people out for being childish when they claim they "can't" eat fruit or vegetables, but you seem to be making a sincere effort to change your eating habit and find fruits and vegetables that work for you.

To OP and anyone in the thread, if you can't stomach lettuce (which seems to be one of the common traits of veggie-haters) don't bother.  It has almost no nutritinal value.

Dangerous Findings of Stevia Danger Description Reproductive Difficulties Stevia, or the singular stevioside, at least in some studies, seems to affect the male reproductive organs. This was the conclusion of a group of European scientists in early 2006.
  • The study showed that when male rats were fed high doses of stevioside for 22 months, sperm production was severely reduced, the weight of the seminal vesicles declined, and there was an increase of cell proliferation in their testicles. In time, this could easily cause infertility or other reproductive problems.
  • In another study, female hamsters were fed large amounts of a derivative of stevioside called steviol. Here the scientists found that the female hamsters had fewer and smaller offspring.
Cancer There have also, at least in preliminary studies, been links to cancer.
  • In the lab, steviol can be converted into a mutagenic compound. This, in turn, may promote cancer by causing mutations in the cells’ genetic material, or DNA.
  • Scientists are divided on the issue of the caner link, and remain adamant that further testing, studies, and reviews need to be conducted in order to resolve the issue.
Energy Metabolism

Studies indicate that large amounts of stevioside can interfere with the absorption of carbohydrates in animals and disrupt the conversion of food into energy within cells. Scientists are particularly worried about this development, especially as it pertains to children.
