I know man, I don't think that they came back because bill clinton is great. I just liked seeing him on t.v. and wanted to make a lighthearted post about. Please don't take it too seriously. I have like a childhood admiration (he was president when I was a child) for Bill Clinton, and just wanted to comment on how great it was seeing him on t.v.

I would like to try to find alternatives to items I consider staples such as breakfast cereal oatmeal!, soymilk how about real milk?, granola bars I make my own protein bars (recipe below) etc.

From a John Berardi article:

Ingredients:

3/4 cup almond meal (put 3/4 cup of almonds in a blender to make meal)

3/4 cup pecan meal

AWESOME!!! I'm definitely t

1/4 cup chopped walnuts

6 scoops vanilla whey protein

2 whole eggs

2 egg whites

Mix all ingredients together, place in greased pan and bake at 350 for 15 minutes.

AWESOME I am definitely trying it this weekend!! I do drink milk, just happen to like the taste of soymilk, but have no problem drinking milk (hormone free).

Thanks to everyone for all your responses!

This is actually a dilemma I am having right now, where I lost 15 lbs, and most of my clothes are pretty baggy on me (I really don't like the way they look), but I think I might hold out until I reach my goal weight of 5 more lbs.

Cellophane_star, Where can I find tempeh? Is it expensive?

The only other Tofu sub I've tried is Seitan and know of this recipe to make it (but have never actually tried to make it myself). Does anyone have experience with seitan?

Thanks Kraysler! I had no idea that almond milk was so simple to make. I do eat only 1300 calories, for most of my weight loss (since nov.) it's been 1400. The reason is that right now I am swamped with finals and am virtually getting no exercise (except for walking around school). It's not so bad, I'm trying to eat calorie dense foods (which the walnuts w/ fruits seem great) so I don't feel hungry that often. However, as soon as I get the chance to get back into an exercise routine I'm going to up my calories. I really just want to get to my goal weight so I can maintain. 5 lbs away seems so close yet so far away lol! Wow, but really thanks! You gave me some great alternatives to my beloved cereal and milk.

Hey! We're the same height and age and similar in weight-- it looks like my start and goal weights are only five pounds under yours. It would be neat to be CC friends, if you'd be so inclined.

 Yeah I would love that!

Brandynparks:

I don't really have any brilliant suggestions. One of the big things that was bringing me down were deserts. I gave them up for two weeks and it's just not the same anymore. I don't crave them, and when I do have something superindulgent I find that I can't really appreciate it as much as I can appreciate a granola and dried fruit bar. Exercise is important (for muscle development and tonenesss) but it's not everything, really watching what I ate was really the key for me. Try different things and see what works for you!

What really was the key for me was not giving up! Even if I had major set backs I just started my calorie count the next day like nothing happened.

But Thank you everybody for your support and your replys! CC is the best! and the forums here are definitely one of the most informative, mature, encouraging, and just plain helpful forums on the internet!

So I've held strong, and have actually lost 3 lbs!! I was 165 last wednesday, and as of this morning am 162! My goal weight is 149 (145-150). Not being able to control my sweets intake was really killing my diet! I think I'm going to give up sweets until I reach my goal weight. It seems so feasible right now.

Weight Loss Dr.'s Scale Vs. Home Scale Feb 09 2009
13:38 (UTC)
9

Did you weigh yourself with or without clothes on your at home scale? Was it at about the same time with the same conditions (with breakfast w/o breakfast etc.)? Clothes can add a few lbs to your weight at the dr.'s office, and if you weighed yourself in the morning before breakfast at home but at the doctors it was after breakfast your weight is skewed a little.

If it makes you feel better, try to recreate how you were weighed at the doctors office. Weigh yourself at about the same time, with the same type of clothes (with or without shoes depending on whether they make you take them off), and after whatever you ate before going to the doctor. I'm sure you'll probably get a result similar (though you probably lost a couple of lbs) to the one you got at the doctors.

Weight Loss How often do you weigh? Feb 09 2009
12:25 (UTC)

I weigh myself everyday, or every other day. I find that when I don't myself for more than a week let's say I start becoming rather ignorant about my weight. Especially if I am exercizing! I'll eat more thinking that I am thinner, then when I realize I am actually gaining weight I put off biting the bullet and getting back on the scale and back to reality.

So I usually weigh myself every day or every other day. Yesterday I weighed myself and I as 163.2 and today I was 163.4 (haha), but I am completely ok with that.

I definitely want to give that type of plan a try, but I want to reach my goal weight of 149 ish before. Desserts aren't essential, and they shouldn't be part of my daily diet, so I am doing this in order to lower my sugar tolerance, and hopefully my cravings for desserts. I need to teach myself that I really don't need that piece of cake or that bar of chocolate first. Hopefully I am not settng myself up for failure, but I think I need to teach myself self control (for desserts), before I can try that kind of lifestyle or diet, because I am afraid that I might over do it right now if I try to limit it to 2 days a week. I want to try this out first, I think I have enough self control to do it. This is the exact same way I stopped eating meat. I started out with a week and then it turned into a month and now it's been a year. My goal is not to ever eat sugar, just actually be able to eat it in moderation like one is supposed to. For that I think I need to get over my addiction/obsession with it first.

With that said that sounds like a great plan! I will probably use that strategy in the future.

Thanks Jane for your support and advice! :)

I'm down to my last 12-10 lbs. and I am struggling to get them off. I am exercising on a daily basis, so I truly believe sugar is the main culprit! What I am aiming for is that at the end of the week it doesn't seem like it's so difficult, and that I can do another week and so on.

I just changed my activity level to light, because I am going to the gym everyday. It told me to change my caloric intake to 1700 (yikes!) I've been doing well on 1400 calories (I wasn't exercising as much) I'm kind of afraid to increase it.

Weight Loss what's better juice or diet soda??? Jan 13 2009
12:35 (UTC)

I personally choose not to drink soda. I even limit my regular non-diet soda intake. You have to be careful what kind of "juice" it is, a lot of juices aren't really as pure as the claim to be with excess sugar, high fructose corn syrup, and other chemicals. The best I can usually find just say "concentrated x juice, water" It's pretty impossible to find juice not from concentrate.

What I do, and this kind of gives me a soda fix, is that I buy club soda, and mix it with my juice in the glass. So i'll get a little bit of juice 1/2 cup and fill the rest up with club soda. I really enjoy that, because I find juice by itself usually to be too much. It's also half of the calories since club soda doesn't not contain any. Also no chemicals :)

Weight Loss I care about my nutrition but... Dec 17 2008

I try not to eat processed foods, but it's kind of hard when you're a vegetarian, because a lot of the protein sources such as cheese, peanut butter , milk, soy milk etc. are the only sources of protein (generally) within my diet. I eat eggs, and those are usually no problem to input in cc. However, I tend to snack on things such as apples with peanut butter, yesterday I had a tofurky and goat cheese sandwich. So, I mean I think I eat pretty decently, but I still seem to spend a lot of time inputing nutritional data manually. Also, sometimes the nutrition facts (especially on tofurky) are not accurate on cc, when compared to the box.

Thanks for your advice! I ended up not eating anything, but I think that I had over my calorie allowance, because I gained .2 lbs (haha). Maybe not, it could just be normal fluxuations. I'm one of those people that weigh's themselves every day, it helps keep me motivated and realistic about my body. I think next time I go, I'll skip the sundried tomatoes, because I'm almost certain they probably soak them in olive oil or something.

Motivation omg Nov 25 2008

I was prone to these too! I kept buying oreo cookies or sandwich cookies, and just binging every night on them! To be honest what helped me stop was not buying them anymore. I also try to go to sleep early, that way I'm not up and tempted! Plus the time between dinner and breakfast goes by way quicker lol!

Beyond that what has really helped me is logging all of my calories. Its made me more aware of food. I am less prone now to be tempted by a cookie or a chocolate bar knowing that I have to spend 200+ of my precious calories lol. I try to eat foods that keep me full, like protein, beans etc. and am buying more whole grains too.

My advice is just get rid of the temptation, that way you don't have to wrestle with your will, because (at least for me) my cravings (and rationalizations) tend to win.

I'm just worried that I might not see results as fast as I maybe want. I want to be thin again pretty bad, but I also don't want to break down and binge. I think i've found a happy medium with this website, and am crossing my fingers it works. Smile

Besides, being thin I also want to be healthy. In the beginning of the summer I discovered that I had slightly high cholesterol, and well I am 21, 20 at the time the doctors told me. I worked out pretty hard all throughout the summer, I was in the gym 4 times a week etc., but did not watch what I ate (thinking it would be fine as long as I exercized). But when I went for another check up at the end of the summer, my numbers had definitely improved, but my cholesterol was higher :/. So I got pretty discouraged.

Don't let it depress you. Take it as motivation to keep going! Also, I think it helps to know that you are probably your worse critic, and other people don't really think what you think about the picture since they have a pretty good idea of what you look like anyways.

But keep going! Cool
