How was everybody's Thanksgiving?? I had a great time, but ate way too much! I was so happy to get to my mini-goal weight of 135, the DAY before Thanksgiving...grrr. Unfortunately, Thanksgiving led to a 5 day binge fest...today being the worst...yuck. I just got back to school today and im just kinda stressed. Well, tomorrow is a new day..I'm not going to let this turn into a 3 month binge fest like last time!! How is everybody else doing?? |

Hey everyone! I'm 19 and I'm not exactly a senior anymore, but I just started college this fall, so I don't feel like im TOO much older than ya'll I don't really count calories (used to). Its too hard to estimate the calories of the food served in the cafeteria. Plus, when I calculate I tend to eat right up to my limit whether I'm hungry or not. So I decided it would be better to simply eat when I'm hungry. But, I guesstimate about 1200-2000, it varies a lot.

OOO I'm excited! Sometimes I really love my college! Right now we have this optional 'Healthy Holiday Challenge'. On Monday before Thanksgiving break, we go in and they record our weight. After chrismas break is over (for us around mid-January), we go and weigh in again. If we maintained OR lost weight, we are rewarded with money!! Yay!! This makes trying to lose weight more fun! Anybody else have any programs like that around their school?
On a side note, I'm excited/nervous to go home in a few days! I havn't weighed myself for a month and I think I can tell I've made progress! I'm also really looking forward to the Thanksgiving food--our cafeteria food is terrible :-(. Mmmmm...my dads homeade pecan pie. Remember, the key is portion size! |

| Young Calorie Counters | any GIRLS who lift weight? | Nov 22 2008 17:50 (UTC) |

I'm a freshman girl in college and like to weight lift. I completely understand that it can be a little intimidating when there are lots of guys around lifting really heavy. But really, if anything, they would be more impressed because you're weight lifting because most girls don't. In fact, they're probably loving it because they think they have an audience now!! Don't let it bother you too much, but what I used to do was bring a friend/roommate and I wouldn't feel as awkward. I actually enrolled in a weight training course so I know a lot more exercises and how to use the machines. I was always scared to try new exercises in fear of looking like an idiot. I'm always intimidated to go the bench press/squat station because the guys there lift SO heavy and then I can hardly unrack the weights from the bar LOL. But, proud of yourself for wanting to be healthy, because weight lifting rocks!! |

I too feel the same way! I don't get to home very often, so when I do my family prepares a big feast or go out to eat. My sister always wants to bake me delicious goodies because they are excited to have me home. It breaks my heart to tell them I don't want it because they're doing it to please me, not sabotage. So usually I give in and eat it (I'm a people pleaser
But yeah, it is hard to resist all the food at home. Becuase you get in the mindset of being, oh this is break I deserve it. Good luck to everyone over the Thanksgving and Christmas breaks!! |

Hi all! This thread is a great idea!
I don't have a scale here at school (I'm almost thankful of that because before I was an obsessive weigher.) So my weigh-ins might be a little sporadic. Last time I checked was Nov.2 at 138.8. I'm really trying to get a routine here at school to go work out. I've always been pretty active. I even enrolled in weight training classes (.2 credit!!). I also have some bingeing issue that I'm thinking I overcame (last time was around Halloween) *knock on wood*
I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone!
