Thank you both so much! I'm doing 3-4 miles on the treadmill each day for cardio and am also counting calories, I'm going to look into the program and I'm glad to have a reference point of around a few months. I'm really excited now. Hope you guys have a great week :)

I totally put my life on hold when I'm focused on losing weight. Mostly because I know my friends will try to be nice and say "you look fine! Now let's do a shot" When I drink I DRINK. And then I eat.... I could easily take in 3,000 calories between drinks and shots and then 4th meal... Taco Bell is the only cure for the spins... too bad it gives you the something elses.

But I like to think of buying the new clothes and going out looking good as a reward. I'll totally reward myself once I've accomplished my goals. But I think going out and facing temptation feels like a punishment for letting myself become heavy. I deserve to feel good and I don't want to torture myself and see deserts at restaurants. Or watch my thin friends who eat anything without gaining weight and who don't go to the gym shove a deep fried something into their mouths. I'm not ready to say no yet.

I plan on practicing moderation outside of home in about 20 lbs. Right now I only eat desert that I make, because I know exactly what is in it. Plus I'm not just "interested" in losing weight. I'm commited. The difference is that when you're interested in something, you only do it when it's convenient. When you're commited, there are no excuses; just results. I'm earning the results. I'm working really hard and doing what I need to. I think that when I was just interested I would just dabble 2 days on a diet 2 days off... sure I feel like a burger. But I'm starting to realize that what I do with my day today, will either be a step towards my goal or a step away from it. And to me standing still is the same thing as walking the wrong way.

As for dating I was 190 lbs when I met my now boyfriend. That was just under a year ago and even though he is wonderful and supportive and he's never said anything to hurt me, I got tired of feeling self conscious.

I know plenty of girls who are heavy and in good relationships or dating. I've managed to date attractive guys who like some cushion that was nice but it made me feel that because they liked it, they were looking at it more. It depends on the person. I just wanted something different. I want to be thin.

If you have ever been criticized or teased, especially in public you may relate to this.

I know I'm valuable, I know I'm smart and pretty and funny... ( you probably want to date me now but I'm taken) but the next time someone insults me publicly, or privately ... I want to be able to give them everything back ten fold. And for them not to be able to use "at least I'm not fat" as a response. Because there are so many worse things to be on Earth than fat, but some people don't seem to think so.

And the next time I see someone else chubby getting picked on I want to be " Hot girl to the rescue!" haha. Really I want to be able to stand up for someone else and be taken seriously.

Weight Loss Instead of alcohol...? Nov 22 2008
04:25 (UTC)

get yourself a sugarfree redbull but check the cals on that first.... sip slow, drink ice water with lemon in between. Follow with diet cokes so you don't add more calories. I go out all the time now without drinking... you really just get used to it. I like waking up the next day not feeling guilty about the literally 1,000's of calories from a night of shots and mixed drinks... not to mention no hangovers! Good luck!

I've been through binging too. It is the worst I'll drive home and I could have just eaten and not be hungry at all and see fast food and feel compelled to go through the drive thru. I've actually ordered and pulled away before going through with it only to find myself in tears because I don't know why I do it to myself. It is such a hard thing. I don't always do it but I'll do it for days to a week at a time and it is so hard. I'm considering going to Over Eaters Anon. I think it may help a lot. It is a drug for me. I've never done drugs and I don't have a drinking problem. Food is my drug. The only problem with that is you can't just say you'll never eat again... the thing about being addicted to food is you have to learn how to manage it. It really is an awful thing to go through. I'm so glad that there is such a great network here to cover all aspects of health and diet. Physical and emotional. It is really important. Best Wishes!

Weight Loss best birth control for NOT gaining weight? Nov 22 2008
02:41 (UTC)

Depo was the worst thing to happen to me! I was maintaining at around 140 lbs, which looked fine on me... (this was a few years back) and within 3 months on Depo I gained 60 lbs. and then 10 more I'm assuming from depression... basically it made me heavy and crazy. So the cycle continued. About a year after not taking it I finally got my period again and was able to start losing weight without any lifestyle changes.

Try going to a forum for BC. It should help.

The Lounge Donut wars - part duex Nov 21 2008

The Donut Cutter at woodward and catalpa in royal oak makes the best donuts and great cheap coffee... I don't like fancy roasts imported from the alps or wakatiki islands or rainforest smuggled beans... I like good cheap coffee and they have the best BEST donuts and coffee. They are only open mornings though I think before noon... although I'm not sure. My boyfriend and I used to walk down there and each get a different donut to split and each get a delicious cheap non alpine coffee. Best ever.
