Weight Gain Scared of gaining too much.. Dec 11 2008

Thanks so much for all your help!

I've been eating 2500 calories everyday for the past 2 1/2 weeks, sometimes a bit more or less, and i think i've already gained just a few pounds. But only in my hips and thighs and now i look really disproportioned! I know i probably only gained about 4 pounds because i weighed myself a few days ago and it said 108, but it's like i can feel all the weight in my hips when i walk and it kind of weirds me out. Most people would say it's probably just water weight, but i'm not sure how that works. Do people usually feel the water weight on them or just go by the scales? But if this is real weight, it seems strange that i'm already noticing it while for most people it takes a lot more calories and time just to gain a few pounds like I might have already did. I don't want to be gaining too fast, but i want to speed up my metabolism. Do you think i should stick with 2500, or up it even more? Because i heard sometimes the more calories you give in recovery, the faster you're metabolism gets.

I'm going to see a dietician next week so i'll see how that goes..

What I have every morning is similiar, a bowl of oatmeal with a mashed banana mixed in & cottage cheese with grapes. I'm not very original because I basically have that every morning! But sometimes I drizzle almond butter on the oatmeal and I always sprinkle ground cinnamon. Or i'll have a boiled egg instead of cottage cheese. On the weekends though, i'll have two whole wheat waffles and spread peanut butter on them w/ maple syrup + blueberries. You can also put the waffles together and make a waffle sandwich thing, and put anything you want in between.

Hey, I’m In Australia and I am just wondering…

What are the exact ingredients in those Lara bars?

I am asking because you can get similar bars here, that are only made from natural ingredients, as in, literally only dried fruits, nuts, honey and a carbohydrate like brown rice

Do Lara bars only contain fruit, whole grains, and nuts? Or are there any “ not so natural” ingredients? I am curious weather they are like the natural ones I find here in Aus

They only contain natural ingredients like the ones you have, with just fruit & nuts. Like the Cashew Cookie just has: dates, cashews. on the ingredient list

Health & Support Difference between bingeing & 2500-3000 calorie intake? Dec 05 2008

I've actually been eating atleast 2500 calories a day for the past week. A few weeks before that it was more like 1200 to 1400, 1600 to 1800, etc. I was just naturally upping my intake every day because i would feel more comfortable with it. I'm 5'5 1/2 and i think my lowest weight was 104 lbs maybe 2 weeks ago, highest ever being 122 lbs, and i currently am 108 lbs. Do you think that's going at a good rate? I don't want to gain too much but i want my metabolism to fully recover. I just don't know how i'm supposed to know when it has. I've been feeling hungrier than before though and i'm actually able to get a fair amount of sleep at night, could that mean anything?

thanks

I don't like the cherry one either, it's too sweet. My favorites are Cashew Cookie and Cocoa Coconut (tastes exactly like a brownie!). I like Apple Pie and Pecan Pie ones too, Cinnamon Roll's okay, and I really want to try the peanut butter and banana bread ones but I haven't found them yet:( But i'm pretty much obsessed too, I have atleast one everyday!

When i was undereating, all i would ever think about was cereal! It must have been because i needed the carbs. But now that i eat healthier and more balanced, it's not an obsession anymore like it used to be.

Something else I wanted to know was how am I supposed to know when to feed myself? I try to have a snack in between each meal, but sometimes i'm not hungry. But i just eat something anyway. Or, right after i have a snack or meal (and usually in the afternoons), i suddenly become really hungry even though i just ate! I don't know if this is because my body actually needs food, or if it's just trying to store food for another possible starvation. Should I have scheduled eating times or just eat when i'm hungry and stop when full?

And another thing, my doctor recommended getting a blood test done. I'm just wondering what a blood test can determine because i'm not clear on that. Can it determine your metabolic rate?

Thanks.
