hey ladies, I havent been counting calories much online so I havent been on here lately...I'm pretty impressed with how I've cut out so much junk food from my diet...I'm still hanging on to 123 but I FEEL better without the junk calories and more veggies! who knew?!! About 1500 cals/day is my norm, some days a little less... I agree that 1200 is too low for someone who works out as much as you do, Jinder....with all that cardo/running, you should probably be getting more like 1500-1800 cals. It's been warmer lately so I'm back to running more regularly 3x/week... if I could bump it up to 4-5x/week I could probably lose those last 5 lbs!! Work/kids/LIFE precludes that but I'm still trying! Good luck ladies, hang in there!! Lou |

Throwing away the scale may be a little much...putting it away and only breaking it out once or twice a week may be a better option. If you want to maintain then you need to be able to track the weight...in case you start to go up in weight then you can get more active in watching what you eat. I was obsessive for awhile but now I'm only on the scale every other day...keep in mind your weight will fluctuate 2-3 lbs on any given day. Good luck!! |

hey ladies, welcome newcomers. Sorry I've been out lately...work, kids, winter...blah. I'm still holding steady at 123 (5'3", 34 y/o)...will I EVER see 115, right now I'd settle for 120?! Not if I dont get my butt up and running again...I hate running in the cold but I hate treadmills even more...when will Spring be here?! A_mckh -- As far as healthy snacks, I like to munch on almonds or baby carrots in the afternoons...1330 sounds like a good goal for you. I was doing great at 1300 for awhile but I've slacked off...time to get serious again! Today I had a Slim Fast meal bar for breakfast, grilled chicken salad for lunch...probably a can of tuna and some veggies for dinner. I had a soda yesterday...the Devil! I have got to stay away from those if I want to keep losing the weight. Today I've only drank water and tea. :) I'm pretty proud of the fact that I did not buy ANY GirlScout cookies!! Love those thin mints! Keep it up girls...it will be swimsuit time before we know it! :-P |

hey ladies, Yesterday's plan of grilled chicken salad for lunch turned into a tiny plate of lasagna. So I only had a small can of tuna and a couple slices of cheddar cheese for dinner...rounded out the day at about 1000 calories...made up for the sloppy joe's the night before. :) Stepped on the scale this morning, 122.8...7.8 lbs to go! Thawed out some salmon steaks for dinner tonight. I watched Ghost Town last night...hilarious! |

NYCgirl, sounds like you could add some veggies and nuts to help make you feel fuller...I like to snack on a handful of almonds when I'm craving some chocolate...and snack on raw carrots while I watch tv rather than going after the cookie jar. :) I've been eating slim fast meal bars for breakfast....the chocolate cookie dough one is awesome. that keeps me full till lunch and yesterday we had sushi, which is great except for the rice. Today I'll probably have a grilled chicken salad. Last night my kids wanted sloppy joe's for dinner...and of course I ate one. LOL not sure what I'm making tonight...turkey sausage maybe. I ran Sat & Sun this weekend...hopefully I'll get home early enough tonight to get a run in. Congrats on the stairs...keep it up!!!! I'm trying to eat max 1,500 cals/day which is going pretty well...I just need to be sure to get my exercise in too. my new goal is to lose 5 lbs by 1 March...what do you think? |

welcom back vnaloo - glad you had a nice trip and congrats on meeting your goal! poofyball -- love that name by the way. welcome, sounds like you are in the right place...you probably need to jump on that scale and see where you're at and determine a reasonable goal... I know what that unwanted jiggling is all about though! I saw an infomercial for a new fat loss pill...lizoprene or something...has anyone ever tried those pills? I wonder if they work...probably not but one can hope?! |

nycgirl - ok, let's get serious!! I ate really bad yesterday too...so starting right NOW let's get working... I had a slim fast bar for breakfast and even though I really want Tacos for lunch I'm going to force myself to eat a plain salad. Tonight is bowling night and we have yummy Thai food at our bowling alley...I vow to eat the shrimp/stir fry veggie dish which has a lot of salt but pretty low calories (no rice). and I'll only have one LITE beer! :) What is your meal plan for the day? Maybe if we tell each other we'll be more obliged to stick to it... if we cheat then we can yell at each other. :) I also need to get my butt back to an exercise plan...I havent ran in 2 weeks! it's COLD outside!! bowling tonight is better than nothing I guess...I'll try hard to get up in the morning and at least do some exercises before I shower. Happy New Year! I was sick last week and dropped a couple pounds...unfortunately they came right back. :( Slim Fast bar for breakfast, Subway for lunch today...I WILL lose these last 5 lbs before Spring! I'm just glad the holidays are over...back to reality and healthy eating!!

This time of year is terrible for trying to eat healthy...everyone keeps bringing in sweets...I keep turning them down... I went to lunch with some friends yesterday and I was proud for eating soup and a salad while they had STEAK... then today they're giving me a hard time because I didnt eat steak too. I didnt give them a hard time for eating steak so why dont they leave me alone? I'm fine with eating low-calorie meals and not snacking on everything that someone offers...but it's like they're offended... geesh! I'm so glad my husband is supportive...he knows it's important to me to lose these last 6 lbs...why cant everyone else understand? The ones that give me the hardest time are overweight ladies... Hang in there ladies... be strong!! |

Good job cbridge...you've obviously changed your overall eating habits for the better...always a good thing. I'm maintaining at 122...sure would like to get below 120 by New Year's but I'm not sure if I can do it...it's too cold to run!! LOL. (GW: 115) |

Welcome MSH...can you convert kilos to lbs for me...50k is ?lbs? what is your daily calorie intake? what are you doing at the gym? cardio or weights or both? could the weight gain be muscle gain? what is your goal weight? are you drinking enough water?? 8-10 glasses/day + more when you are working out. hang in there!!! we're all struggling with the same issues...it's a daily battle for me not to drink a soda!! :) |

Hang in there cbridge ... small steps...take a walk at lunch/after dinner... try to do something fun but active...Wii is an excellent option for getting me off the couch! Don't be too hard on yourself...the holidays are a rough time with so many good treats out there. Moderation is the key. Good luck!! |

Hello ladies, I fell off the wagon a little bit this weekend...holiday party Fri night (pic to be posted), anniversary Sat...a lot of merriment (and alcohol!) :) I didnt eat much of anything Sunday to try and make up for Fri/Sat so I think I'm ok...back to counting today...banana for breakfast, probably a grilled chicken salad for lunch. Have a good week!

I will try to up my calories to 1200-1500...I'm at 620 or so for the day, just had lunch...I'll have my slim fast bar for afternoon snack and then my hubby wants to go bowling tonight so maybe I'll splurge a little. :) I'll be sure to take a pick of me in the dress Fri night and I'll post it so you all can see. :) |

Vnaloo -- thanks for the welcome! I lived in Hawaii for 6 years...LOVED IT!! I have contemplated upping my calories but I'm afraid that any increase will cause me to go completely overboard...yesterday I only ate about 900 cals...and I ran 3 miles...I'm a little worried that I'm obsessing TOO much over calorie intake...what do you think a good goal is? According to the tools on this website, I should be eating around 1500 daily...which seems like a lot considering I've been hanging around the 1000 mark for the past 2 weeks...and I've seemed to plateau so maybe I'm not getting enough fuel/calories? such a nightmare. any thoughts/advice? thanks! |

hey ladies, I just saw your group....mind if I join in the fun? 5'3" SW: 130 CW: 122 GW: 115 I've been calorie counting for the past 2 weeks and trying to eat 1000-1200 cals daily, which is going pretty well...although I do miss eating more. I dont exercise as much as I wish I had time for but I try to run 2-3x/week for about 3 miles/30 mins. My husband's holiday party is this Friday which is why I started this "diet." I have a little black dress that I want to look HOT in! :) take care all! Lousrocks |

I know what you mean...I have a similar busy life...working full-time, 3 kids, etc. I tried getting up early to work out/run but since I dont get to bed until usually 11pm, I need that extra hour until 6am! So I try to run on Sat & Sun and then sometimes if I can get dinner started, go for a run, then come back and finish dinner (my oldest is 13 so he can watch the house/kids while I run)...that seems to work pretty well. I try to cook quick, healthy meals...sometimes the kids just have chicken nuggets while I have a salad if I'm really pressed for time. Pre-made salads are pretty good and then I buy chicken strips from the deli meat section to throw in there...frozen veggies and whole-wheat pasta (they cant tell the difference!) for the hubby/kids. You just have to make your health a priority...just as important as the other things you mentioned. I take baby carrotts and almonds to work for in-between meal snacks...that keeps me away from the candy/soda. |

Don't give up, just change your strategy. Binging and purging is definitely not the right approach to weight loss. You need to look at your calorie intake based on your body's needs (under Tools on menubar) and determine a healthy meal plan that works for you...and dont forget how important exercise is! You can do it...you just have to stop hating yourself...you are NOT a failure...get back up on that horse and ride it again! |

I would think that a homemade cookie would have less calories than packaged cookies...preservatives and stuff like that are in packaged cookies. you are probably ok with the 78 or so estimate. Maybe 100 just to be safe. I love those 100-calorie pack snacks they have out now...then I dont have to worry about counting...the chocolate covered pretzels are yummy!! |
