| Motivation | How to get past the fear of people at the gym? | Dec 09 2008 17:50 (UTC) |

I heard a quote one time which says: "Just do it afraid". That's what I have done. I put on my headphones, and just do it. I remember that I am not doing this for anyone but myself. I am making a financial investment, and investing my time in myself. Just remember that many of those that you think are observing you, felt the same way that you do. How can you expect different results, if you keep do the same things. You are trying to do something different healthwise. Just do it, and you will see the results, and be better for it. The best to you. You have many that are out there pulling for you. |

| Health & Support | STRESS--how to combat it?! | Dec 07 2008 13:11 (UTC) |

Here's a few questions to ask yourself? Can I do anything to change this? If I can, then what steps of wisdom do I need to take to fix this? Am I afraid of change? Why? Just take it one day at a time. Tackle one issue at a time. You choose your battles. You don't have to even deal with everything. What I mean by that is how to invest emotionally. You can choose not to be present emotionally. You can find other things to think about. I find that when we sit alone to long to think about it....Here comes the stress headache. Is there truly anything you can do about all of this? If you could, why wouldn't you? |

| The Lounge | how do you let someone know you like them? | Dec 05 2008 23:29 (UTC) |

How do you let someone know you like them (at work)? Just be a friend to them, chances are if there is a lot of flirting going on between co-workers you might get lost in the "shuffle". Be a friend. Be able to talk to them about anything, you don't have to be an expert. Just "BE YOURSELF" whatever you do. You may want to start by asking a question, or his opinion on a subject which does not have to be work related. Then, if you're still interested you could always ask him to lunch. |

Don't allow yourself to stay discouraged. Here's an option for you, if you haven't tried it. Try to eat several small meals throughout the day. It's sort of like stoking a furnace. Using the food as wood to keep the fire burning, your metabolism being the fire. Maybe try eating every 2 to 2 1/2 hours if you can. You may want to keep in mind these are small meals just to keep your metabolism stoked. Dont compromise on your calorie intake though. Also, keep in mind that your meals should include a protein, carbohydrate balance. Also include fiber in your diet, and of course plenty of water. That could also be an issue, make sure to drink plenty of clear water daily. I hope this helps, and keep us posted. You'll be fine, we've all been there :-) |

| Fitness | How Many Different Body Parts Do You Work Out ??? | Dec 05 2008 17:50 (UTC) |

I have found that it varies. I like to develop a routine and then switch it up. If I remain on the same routine, I will hit a plateau (body doesn't want to respond). So I may begin with cardio, and end with weight training, and visa versa. During weight training, I may do a combination of biceps and triceps with 3 exercises each. Then next time I may just perform 4 exercises on one muscle group for instance shoulders, trying to attack every angle. Make sure to view the diagrams on the resistance machines, they may help you to identify the muscles as well. I hope this helps :-) |

Yea!! Here's one for you. Try the different ellipital machines, you will quickly identify your favorite. They are excellent for burning lots of calories. You never really "out grow" them, because of the various settings. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!! You will see definite results very shortly, and of course just wait til summer. Better start saving for that "shopping spree" now. LOL!! |

If your gym has free classes, get involved. It's a great way to meet new people who will definitely encourage you, and support you. If not, you can always reach out by asking brief questions of the normal "gym rats" in between their sets though :-) I hope it works for you. Just get started, you'll be surprised! With each day, week, month you will become more stronger, and more MOTIVATED. I found that's what worked for me when I had that problem, I would go directly from work. You just have to do it "FOR YOU"! Keep us posted. I'm sure everyone would love to hear how can't stay away from the gym. LOL. |
