Grape is my favorite...but the guava was okay too! I wish I had a Whole Foods nearby so I could guzzle the grape one daily! |

Oh my goodness....the raw food vegan diet is AMAZING! I followed this lifestyle for two months solid for health alone! It's really great, but it does take self control if you love dairy, meat, and your bread. But for a week! Go for it! It's very healing and beneficial to your body to rest from all the heavy foods (healthy or not - meat, dairy) we eat all the time! |

Lol, I tried it with whey protein powder and it worked. But you're right lafoutloud01, the chocolate was lacking...it was really good, but it just needed a bit more sweetener. |

| Weight Loss | Tall Women 5'9" or taller! | May 27 2009 21:51 (UTC) |

I love this thread. I'm 19, 5' 11" and I weigh about 157. My goal is 140 lbs...I'm young and my bone structure isn't big, probably average. I'm definitely all legs...and my waist is quite small, but my hips are average. You can imagine what a nightmare it is finding pants or jeans that fit. They'll be way too short, the waist is too big, but the hips fit right...the waist fits, but the hips are way too tight...Ooh, what trials we must suffer through. And I LOVE heels, but I always feel bad wearing them...especially since a lot of my guy friends are my height or shorter. I almost feel disrespectful to them being taller, but of course, that's silly. This is the way God made me and I love being tall. Of course, I'd be a lot happier if I slimmed down to 140 FAST...I'm SO impatient. |

Here's a good one...eat with your non-dominant hand...it'll take you a lot longer because you're not as cordinated (so if you're right handed, eat with your left). |

| Weight Loss | Saunas | Mar 19 2009 18:09 (UTC) |
|
I'm not so sure...if you use a infared sauna (the best!) it draws out toxins (sweating is one of the main ways we get toxins out). I personally think that waste equals weight...the more toxins we get out, the cleaner inside we're going to be. I use it almost every other night, not only is relaxing, it's so hot that it gets your body working as it heats up more and more. Yes, you lose water weight, but your metabolism is working harder too.

I drink A LOT of water and a lot of herbal tea...from 8-12 glasses a day. But I'm also active with running, very tall, I live in a drier country, and sweat in an infared sauna about every other day. It helps to drink 2 glasses before each meal and then 2 after dinner. I love water!!!! |

We're about the same age, but I'm 5'11" and I weight 150-155 about. I think you should slowly up your miles...and if it's cals you want to desperately burn, just upping the treadmill in incline helps burn more faster. My running background: Six weeks ago I thought running 3 miles was killing me...but now, since following a ten-week running program, I consider those miles almost relaxing. Two days ago I ran 11 miles, the most I've ever run in my life. Over the past 6 weeks...I've run a total of 105 miles. I never dreamt I'd be able to do that. 10 miles alone is about 1,100 and more for me. Hope that's inspiring for you, because if I can do it, ANYONE can! Of course, it's still winter where I live so I've been doing this on the treadmill. I expect that once I'm outdoors again, it will be harder, since you're dealing with hills and different terrain, but doing things a little a time really works. I'm not a hardcore runner like my brothers...I run for about 9 minutes and walk about 1 minute. I've tried the other way, where you just don't stop at all, but the prospect of running 2 solid hours does not sound appealing. |

Yay...just wanted to happily say...I'm now down to 152 and I'm so excited and I know I'm continuing to lose too. I'm so excited!!! Because I'm trying to do this in a healthy manner, slow and effective...That means I'm in a total of 6 pounds down since I started!! It's so hard to lose weight when you're already a healthy weight and SO close to your goals. (*happy dance*) |

| Weight Loss | How do I calorie count? | Feb 18 2009 18:59 (UTC) |
|
Hmmm, good thoughts...I just wonder at the same time if I use the same cals for a bad pizza from the store for our homemade that it would be way off. Honestly, we make nearly everything from scractch. We live in the country, grow a couple fields of wheat just so we can grind our own organic wheat for bread. That's what we make pizza dough with, and then we put lean, ground beef on it straight from our own cows that are organically raised...lotsa veggies on pizza...I don't know...I just can't imagine a healthy pizza being the same as a store bought restaurant pizza. But I like the ideas of estimation and eye balling it...I think perhaps I've come to the place where I could generally guess what things are and just eat small portions and common sense... |

Ok, thanks...but you know it's just frusterating because...you know, we all cut the bread differently...it's never the same amount of slices per loaf and how many pieces of lasagne do you know the pan will have, when you don't cut the whole thing? It's good advice...I appreciate it...but I'm almost wondering if there's some other type of diet/lifestyle plan I should be following, that doesn't take any cal counting? Any ideas? |

Good for you! I made that my new year's resolution...give up refined sugar completely, except in organic or dark chocolate (cuz I know my quality of life would decrease without that), lol. And I don't have those very often...not as much as I'd like! :) Why don't you make yourself a choco banana smoothie...loaded with cocoa and honey...mmmmm! That is so divine! And it will kick your craving...make it really thick like an ice-cream (with frozen bananas and a nut milk base) and eat with a spoon, topping it with maybe some dark chocolate chips, nuts, or raw cacao nibs (my fave!) |

Wow, couldn't agree with you more. Jesus is always the answer and HE's the reason I live and I want to make a difference for Him. I know if I truly always let God lead me, I'll be what I need to be...I just need to give up those things that I often let replace Him...going to food for comfort instead of Him, or being so hyper I eat, instead of going to God with my joy. Life will be so much more beautiful that way. I like this thread. :) |

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this thread. I'm almost 5' 11" and I weigh 157 right now...since I'm so close to my goal weight (I have two...first, 140 and then 135)...I know it's less than normal, but I have aspirations to be a model someday, so it needs to be a bit less. I'm just finding it really hard to lose those pounds since I'm so close to it...it's SO frusterating. For my height and the weight goal I have, how many cals do you think I should consume (right now I get NO excersise, rarely, a day because a CD I'm recording, all day and evening)? Thanks. Love all you tall girls, so glad I'm not alone. I feel like I am usually!!!

I love that book and tried it for a while, feeling really good that way....you know, just eating very small meals, when strictly hungry, and once I did that, I was always hungry at meals...it is often inconvenient when I'm not at my 0 hunger level and the whole family is eating...guess I just need to let my system be adjusted, but really, for the most part, I eat only when I'm hungry anyway. |

My biggest one is that I'm challenging myself to a year without refined sugar, except organic or dark chocolate (cuz my quality of life decreases with out it, lol). I'm also going to serioulsly avoid white flour, bad fried foods, bad fast food, chips, fries, and white rice.

I never used to like the taste of green tea...ugh, I thought it was bitter and gross, but now I just love it...I just kept on drinking it (always without sweetener) and now I drink 2-4 mugs a day...almost not functioning without it...lol. I really like it now. I read somewhere that green tea (I forget if it was one mug or more) burned about 87 calories a day, drinking it conisitently...so not that much, but hey! Every bit helps. :) Maybe just keep on with it...and you'll change and like it...

Me too, so my problem...especially during that time of the month...lol. I have cravings just to eat cocoa powder straight...so I actually have done that, lol. A little funny...but I like to mix it with 1 tsp. of maple syrup and 1 TB or cocoa powder, super low in cals and nixes the craving. |
