Weight Loss Breakfast, my new enemy! Jan 19 2009

I can't function without breakfast.  If I don't have it my stomach is grumbling and I'm sooo hungry by 9 - 10am.

I like to have my main meal earlier in the day, as opposed to suppertime, because then I have more time to burn it off.

I want to save up enough money to go somewhere hot and tropical, I'm hoping to go in November or December.

I want to try my best in college and graduate in the top 10% of my class this year.  I know I can do it, but since it comes easy to me I tend to slack off a bit.

and not really a resolution, but I hope to be engaged by the end of this year Surprised

Weight Loss 8 Pounds in one month? Jan 02 2009

Yep it's possible, you already sound like your at a healthy weight so I honestly don't think it'll come off as easily for you.

For example someone who was very overweight could easily drop 10-15 pounds in a month, but for someone who doesn't have that much extra weight to begin with it's not that easy.

I lost 8 pounds in the month of december, despite it being christmas and everything, but I'm used to eating a LOT of food, so just eating healthy portions (1200-1500 daily) I lost the weight very fast.

Id like to know when people start noticing to.

I lost about 20lbs (125 to 105) and noone has even really noticed!!

Ugh, its kind of frustrating really.

I just talked to my boyfriend about this, he said more people would notice if I didn't wear 5 shirts all the time (I like to layer), but it's noticable to him.

He also said he noticed that 2 of his cousins looked like they had lost A LOT of weight when he saw them over Christmas, but never said anything. Come to think of it, I noticed too but I wouldn't say anything either. I guess thats just how it is.

I don't remember how much I had lost when someone first noticed, but I remember reading somewhere that usually people start to take notice around 10% of your weight having been lost (so if you started at 150lbs on an ave body frame/size they would notice at about 15 lbs)

I actually did start at 150 lbs exactly. I'm down to 140 now. I really hope someone notices by the time I'm 135, thats just 5 more lbs.

'Starvation mode' is overused on sites like this, and in answers to questions such as this as well. The 'Starvation Mode' is'nt something that your body just suddenly switches on.... On the contrary, 'starvation mode' is not activated for a very long time. If your body still has s SUFFICIANT amount of fat to use up, it will not go into a survival mode until it is used up. Eating a large dinner and nothing all day is a bad idea... Especially when it comes to your metobolism. When eating less calories, your body's metabolism slows down and its harder to lose weight. To avoid this ( as it is also unhealthy) eat smaller meals three times a day, throwing in raw foods like carrots and celery in between to help trigger weight loss. Eating throughout the day wont contridict your calorie goal, rather it will aid it. You wont be as hungry later on. Nine hundred calories a day is really not all that bad... Your still eating, and you can really become very healthy. Nine hundred calories may make you think that you can eat that 200 calorie chocolate bar for lunch...but this is not so! While on a diet, liek any other diet, you have to cut out teh junkfood or it wont work.

Precisely.. It seems like anyone eating less than 1400 calories a day gets accused of having an eating disorder and is SURELY in starvation mode.

I'm sure we all have a little (or a lot) of extra fat to lose, that's why were on this site. With obesity rates as high as they are,  I'm pretty sure we're not starving.

No no NO! Slimming pills, teas, wraps etc. are not effective! My cousin is currently taking slimming teas and all she ever does is to use the bathroom.

So true, diet pills are useless.. Someone said that they are the fast and easy way to lose weight??? I think we all wish that were true.

They seriously do nothing. Look at the active ingredients in Hydroxycut.. all it is is a bunch of glorified herbs.

HOWEVER, if you go visit your doctor, there are a few prescription diet aids that Dr's will give to people who actually need to lose weight.. not people who want to lose 10 pounds, but 100+. Some of the names are orlistat, bupropion, and there are some others. If you take them under your dr's supervision it's not unsafe, but can actually really help you.

Lol I know how you feel. I feel like I'll get shot if I make a post about eating less than 1400 calories a day.

That is how much the calculator said I needed (1397 actually), Sometimes I do eat that much, and sometimes it's as low as 1000. I eat when I'm hungry and don't eat when I'm not.

If you don't feel like getting as high as 1400, don't force yourself, there's no point, and yes stomachs do shrink.

Everyone likes compliments, don't for one second tell me you don't, haha.

I'm just doing it because I don't want to be chubby anymore.  I've never been overweight, but I definately could stand to lose a few pounds. I've lost 10, I'm only planning on losing 5-10 more max, even though it's not much, it will definatly be noticable to me!!

Original Post by miket53:

Can't do it. Giving in for a day or so is my downfall. So...I will enjoy the holiday food BUT always keep portions in mind. I have to control what goes in and if possible avoid those appetizers, etc that are high calorie, high fat, high sodium. It will be tough but worth it to make through Friday.

Same, just because it's christmas doesn't mean I need to gorge on everything in sight.   I'm just going to avoid appys, eat a reasonable portion at dinner and eat a small dessert. It's not cheating for me b/c I need to include chocolate in my diet anyway or it doesn't work.

Everyone I know called me silly for dieting over the holidays but it's going great so far.

The nutrition guide at subway is funny, i don't think they're including the bread in that count, you have to add on the bread seperately, as well as all the condiments, cheese etc.

I just looked up the subway breakfast sandwich I had this morning and it came to 580!

10 pounds in a month isn't dangerous.. it's like .3 of a pound/day.

I lost about 8 pounds so far this month and I don't feel like i'm starving or doing anything unhealthy, it feels pretty gradual actually.
