I am like you stinkypillow. I played a bit of piano when I was young. I started playing again about three months ago, after more then a 12 year break. I seem to be enjoying it more now and it seems to be a bit easier now. Although I see myself as a beginner. I like playing classical and am teaching myself Schuman's Dreaming.

I think there is more pressure from society to be thin and it is more acceptable for men to be heavier.

I always say to myself:
Real men want real women

If my BF had a problem with my extra 5lb then he should leave now because I have more to offer than a number on a scale.

Yes, I agress with veggie_head. I was told that when you're a teen your period can be irregular but if you miss it for more than three months in a row then go see a doctor. Better safe then sorry.

Our stats are almost the same! I am also 25, almost 5ft 6 and I started out at 155 pounds December last year. I lost almost 15  pounds in just over 4 months, which is a bit under a pound a week (on average, I would plateau for a week and then drop 2 pounds) and I was eating around 1500 calories. I wasn't exercising much during that time, only once a week of dancing. I am sure if you up your exercise a little then you can get to a pound a week.

I am 138 pounds now and my weight doesn't really want to go down more, I have seen a few people plateau once they hit 140. I have also started exercising (weight training and cardio) 3-4 times a week. I am going to maintain for a couple of months and then start again to get to 132.

Good Luck!

I think most people are overwight because of their unhealthy lifestyle. I got to a BMI of just above 25 by eating junk and not exercising, and I am pretty sure that's how most people get there.

But I think if you are slightly overwight but eat heathily, exercise regularly and generally have a healthy lifestyle than it would not be *that* dangerous and life threatening. That person might actually be healthier than someone who starves themselves and leads an unhealthy lifestyle to have a BMI of 19.

I just think the statement about the overweight people outliving the "healthy" weight ones is a bit unbelivable.

But I do like the rest of the post about accepting who we are and realising our bodies are beautiful Smile.

Weight Loss 5'5 people out there... what is your goal weight?? May 29 2009

I am 5'5.5 and 140 lb. I would like to be between 130 and 135. But more than that, my body fat % is 26% and I would love to get it down to 22%.

I noticed that too. Before CC my diet I had fatty food frequently. Since I cleaned up my diet, I need to run to the bathroom if I happen to have something greasy. I would think my body was just not used to so much fat at once.

I think it happens to me if it is something with a lot of saturated fat, so a pizza would do it, but once I ate a whole avo and nothing happened.

Weight Loss Do you ever fear you will wake up and discover the weight is all back? May 22 2009

The same goes for me. I think I am still in denial that I have lost weight, and I am scared that it will all come back quickly if I over do it. I see it most when I try on clothes I am doubtful that the smaller sizes will fit me and I take the old size into the dressing room with me just in case.

I know exactly what you are going through. I am 5'5 and a half and went down from 155 pounds to 140 and have been this weight for about a month. My goal weight was 132 pounds. April was a difficult month for me with Easter, Birthdays and a weekend away, I also started gyming more seriously now, and I am proud of myself for maintaining.

Right now I feel good, and I get compliments. I will try more seriously to lose weight in May and if it doesn't happen I will be okay with it. I think the number is mostly a vanity thing, for me anyway. I see a lot of people here with a goal weight of 120 pounds and sometimes it makes me feel 'fat' because I am 20 pounds over that. I agree with chrissy1988, it is just a number and focus on toning and healthy eating, thats what I plan on doing.

I agree with gms5002. Eat your more calores for a couple of weeks. Also if you do the same cardio for a long time your body gets used to it and doesn't burn as many calories.

I am no sushi expert I just love eating it Tongue out. But I would think that only the freshest fish is served at restaurants so if a fish is more that a day (or less) old it can't be used. I wouldn't trust a fish from the store, it might be fresh enough for cooking but not eating raw.

My husband and I got married when we were both 23. Since then I got my Masters Degree and he is working on his. We've been together for six years and married for two and are still happy.

I don't think that because you change as you get older should be a reason not to get married. It's not like there is a magic year where you stop changing, I know I'll change when we have kids, and through other life altering experiences. I think if two people are mature and understand that a relationship is work, their age does not matter.

I remember when I was a kid there was a children's TV show about children with disabilities, it ranged from blind children, autism, down syndrome. They actually had the disabled children on TV. I remember finding it very interesting and I wasn't scared in any way.

I think parents are over reacting and it does seem like discrimination.

Weight Loss Happiness Feb 14 2009

My happiness comes from not being afraid of food. I always thought that if it wasn't salad I would get fat from it. Now I can eat whatever I want within my calorie limit. I can portion out my food and just enjoy eating!!!

I know it must be hard to get back on the horse, I went through a similar thing. I started hiking for weight loss and a few weeks later I twisted my ankle quiet badly, it was painful for nearly three months. I also felt sorry for myself, I thought how the "universe" wants me to stay fat. But my injuries healed, I joined CC started some exerciser and I am slowly moving and getting myself in order.

The only thing I can tell you is that life is a journey. There are always ups and downs with all aspects of our lives. People have life altering experiences through out their lives, women get pregnant and usually have to work to get back to their previous shape, people get sick, have accidents, the list goes on. The only constant in life is change.

Have you had physio therapy for your accident it might help you get back on track?

Good Luck and don't give up!

When I was in high school I worked at a bakery/deli and I was surrounded by cakes, muffins, tarts, sandwiches. And I know exactly how you feel. After a day or two everything became "an object" I was selling and not tasty food. So I know exactly what you mean. Although now I would see a piece of cake as something tasty :).

I think a healthy lifestyle is a journey. When I started I also didn't want to change my lifestyle completey. And I would never last long on an eating plan. I looked at the amount of calories CC suggested and just tried to keep within that with my regular food. I learned quickly which foods were high calories that I ate regularly and that helped me to look at a better alternative.

Just analysing what I ate opened up my eyes. I always thought that wraps were a better alternative to burgers, but no they have a higher amoiunt of calories. The food analysis also helped me to look at my fibre, and that improved my digestion. But it all took time and I am still learning.

I think when you really look at what you are putting in your body and what it does, it will help you in making better decisions. Knowledge is power!

Good Luck!

Weight Loss How come SOME people seem to eat whatever they want, however much they want, and still not gain weight?! Jan 10 2009

I used to think the same way. I thought it was unfair that people can eat whatever while I "watched what I ate" (at least I thought I did) and was always chubby.

Then I saw the episode on "The truth about food" that gi-jane mentioned. That got me interested in really looking at what I ate, and that's when I joined CC. I couldn't believe the amount of calories some foods have.

And like previous posters said you don't know these people's eating habits and activity levels. I once worked with a very skinny girl. We had lunch together everyday and she would eat twice as much as me. It turned out she rarely ate proper food the rest of the time. Just worry about yourself and try to be healthy.

I have lost about 6 pounds and my clothes are definitely loser (I am certain I lost at least 1/2 a pant size) , and that's a motivator for me. Weight is to unpredictable for me to get my motivation from.

My DH says he can see a difference, but that was only after I asked him.

In South Africa we have Rooibos (means red bush) tea, it is as popular as normal tea here. I am not sure how available it is in the UK but maybe have a look out for it?

It's very healthy full of anti oxidants, no caffine of course, people even give it to babies!
